Having eaten sushi in many states, its hard to believe that Columbus Ohio had better sushi than Wasa. I live in NY and was expecting something remarkable here on the west coast, unfortunately, Wasa was not it. We ordered simple fare, like YT and scallion, that came so chopped up we thought we were eating canned tuna fish, we couldnt even recognize any scallion. The speciality rolls like the Crunchy roll was inundated with rice and eel sauce you could not even taste any fish; wish were probably happy about. Even the soy sauce was not up to the standard Kikoman. Be prepared to pay for only premium sake. Very disastified New Yorkers who werent expecting too much, and would believe that youd be much happier spending the extra cash and going to Kitayama.

We have dined at Wasa on the Bluffs several times before last evening. Our previous experiences were positive. Last nights experience was, too put it kindly, awful. The sushi chef was totally disinterested in us. Perhaps because all the sushi chefs were very engaged (very loudly) with one patron who was lavishing them with saki. The sushi/sashimi came very slowly. We left hungry because the three items we ordered were so bad - nearly inedible- that we were not about to order more. The crunchy roll was so awful (cold fried shrimp, soggy rice, avocado which was not ready to serve) that we didnt eat it. My wife reminded me that every restaurant has a bad night. However, last night was so very bad that we will never again patronize the restaurant.

WORST SERVICE EVER, coming from someone writing his first review online. My wife & I live across the street so Wasa is the most convenient sushi destination. Food is pretty good (but pricey) and the chefs are great. The servers are on a another planet and have no customer service skills. Order a water / coke and it may / may not come. Typically, we order edamame and miso right off the bat, yet on 3 different occasions it arrives once we have asked for the bill. Out of sheer laziness we sometimes still go to Wasa as the "easy/close option", and the service disappoints EVERY time. (Again, the food & chefs are great, so it is a shame that the bad service continually brings down what should otherwise be a good experience).

I have just moved to the area and was excited to try this award winning spot but was highly disappointed. We found the front desk to be giving preferential treatment to certain patrons as we sat patiently waiting for an hour for our table. We checked with the desk three times and on the fourth round they had purposely taken a couple who had arrived twenty minutes after we did to the table we were promised and then said our name had accidentally been marked off the list (we had just spoken to them and they said we were next in line). For a restaurant who has received acclaim this seems highly out of place and inept. I believe the sushi must be good but in an area with so many choices service does count!
