Words that defines this place: UNCOURTEOUS, UNPROFESSIONAL, BORDERLINE RACIST. I decided to go to this place for a Mothers day dinner on a Saturday, upon the recommendation of a colleague. I called in to reserve a place for 4 adults and 2 toddlers, in the day, specifically asking for a booth. We reached there right on time and stood inside waiting for 10 minutes. There were waiters, bartenders, people from the restaurant walking around without so much as a glance towards us. It was as if we were invisible! The restaurant was not crowded at all ! There were two older couples who came in as we were standing. They were greeted and seated right away. This place LACKS COURTESY AND BASIC HOSPITALITY. After 10 minutes, I asked a guy whom should we talk to? And he said, "I would have helped you, if I could!" with a tone as if we were there for a free meal or asking him for some change! As we decided to leave, a waiter came up to us and said we can wait for longer or sit outside. He didnt have any idea about our reservation. It was cold and and windy and we had 2 kids. He left and without even asking us to wait. The conversation, whatever little there was, was in a condescending tone. We left at once. Never had such an experience anywhere in my life.

Always a terrific spot for a meal. The food is quite delicious... I usually try something different without disappointment. Any handmade Farro pasta, the Rotelle Aurora, all tasty at time of consumption and later into the night. I love the garlic olive oil that accompanies the complimentary bread... a noble contribution to the remnant flavors hours later. New wine discoveries abound here (I always like trying new wines at restaurants). After returning home I searched for and found a recent discovery to purchase locally. Service was good all around. In the beginning it seemed more attentive but it did get much busier as more diners flocked to the Il Farro. Parking is tough in the area being Newport Beach and all, but patience and luck pay off. As a blast from the past... after our wedding we had a HUGE family dinner at Il Farro with all of my immediate family in town for the occasion. It was also a well served and delicious evening.

Cute little Italian place located near the Newport Beach pier. Service here was great! Its not super dimly lit, but its a cute enough place to take a date. You get a real authentic Italian feel here. Just looking at the paintings on the wall makes you feel like youre in Italy. The Waiters recommended a really good wine too. They opened a new bottle for us to try, and they also said if we dont like it they will drink it themselves. But of course the bottle they recommended was really good so we decided to stick with the whole bottle. They were nice enough to let us keep the bottle when we finished too. What a good momento piece for a date. The food was really good as well. It wasnt too creamy like a lot of other Italian places. So you could keep eating without getting sick of it. Highly recommend. You can walk to the pier right after too.

So whenever Im in the US I keep having disappointing experiences in restaurants, particularly Italian ones, which I generally find sub-par. This wasnt the case for "il farro", where both plates I ordered (the Sorrento fish salad and the sausage farrotto) were tasty, fresh and well executed. I particularly appreciated the size of the portions and the respect for the spirit of Italian cuisine. The fennel sausage in the farrotto was great! Pretty good peach margarita and wine as well. One less star than the max because of 1) the not great quality of the olive oil dip at the beginning, 2) the wine list not reporting the vintages, 3) the espresso, tasting like sour grass. Everything else, from the food to the service to the lively ambiance was great!

I came here with my coworker/friend while we were on a business trip. It was wonderful. I have been telling my husband about it. The service couldnt have been better. I tried the shrimp saffron farro, because I wanted to try a farro dish, and I loved it. It wasnt too heavy, and the saffron flavor (which I love) was perfect. I dont love asparagus, and they were happy to leave it off for me. I could have gone 5 more times bc there were many dishes I wanted to try. The restaurant is cozy and relaxing. Definitely try Il Farro. I hope to travel to that area again soon so I can return! Thanks for a very nice meal.

This place looks so authentic, you figure its going to out of this world!! The waiters even have legit accents. Dipping bread, sub standard. Pasta, average at best. My aunt ordered a different pasta dish and I tried hers too. Average at best. She agreed. 5 stars? Thats crazy, thats what I would give this place if Id been eating friskas my whole life and had human food for the first time ever; either that or I was there on the 1 day they ran out of every single one of their normal ingredients and the cooks came in hung over. Ive had better pasta at Costco during "free samples" day.

Most Italian places have very few healthy options... but this place is the exception. They have choices with a healthier, wheat-free grain thats fresh and amazing -- you must try it!! Also, service for me has always been excellent. Theyre always willing to make special orders and accommodate our preferences... and in the rare instances when mistakes were ever made -- the owner was very kind, apologetic and worked hard to correct the order. And they always got it perfect in the end. This is the only restaurant Italian restaurant I frequent in Orange County. Highly recommended!

Nice restaurant with little outdoor patio. Slow but nice servers:) We had the 3 course dinner for $25 (starter, entree & dessert). We had the Carpaccio di Bue al Sedano (Thin slices of raw filet) & the Timbalino di Melazane alla Parmigiana (filled eggplant) and both were good for a starter. The breaded chicken special of the day with mozarella was very good and the petrole sole (fish) dish with pasta & creamy sauce were really yummy. Also the panna cotta and pies are good desserts. Its not a special restaurant but its ok for a decent italian meal.

Our favorite place in Newport! The atmosphere, food, and friendly staff all reminded us of being back in Italy. We had an amazing experience and will be visiting this restaurant whenever we travel back to Newport Beach. The food is straight out of Italy. I had the pumpkin-stuffed gnocchi which was out of this world. My sister had the PPP, which was equally incredibly. Not only was the food good, but our waiter, Claudio, was more than helpful and wished us well on our first baby. Wonderful - we couldnt speak more highly of it!

Worst level of service for the pricing level. Foods came out a different times and the owner came out and I tried to explain that I didnt want to eat in front of my child when his food wasnt out and didnt come out for another 15 min. I explained that the other 8 ppl food would be cold by this time and he got belligerent and stormed off! Looked like good quality food but when the service sucks you dont want to patronize a place like that!
