This is my favorite restaurant!! I love this cute little Mexican eatery in the charming town of Sierra Madre. Situated in the gently rolling foothills beside Pasadena, its hard to beat such a beautiful location. I usually eat inside, because I like the feel of the booths. But on occasion, its nice to eat outside and watch the people strolling by! The place is not very large, so I like to eat early in the afternoon or late at night, when the crowd is less. The food is super! Their tortilla chips are the best Ive tasted, and the salsa is wonderful. If you feel brave, ask for the special habanero salsa, and they will let you have a try - its HOT!! I always order my favorite dish - beef enchiladas with rice and beans. Its a very common entre, but the taste is what keeps bringing me back time and time again. This restaurant has a tiny bar, but that isnt too bad since there are TVs which usually show our local sports teams in action. Surprisingly, the margaritas that come out of this small bar are SECOND TO NONE! Honestly, I have not had a better margarita anywhere else in the world. So Casa del Rey is the champion in this regard. I dont know how they do it, but they should get an award for their margarita creations! And in concluding, I must credit the honorable staff. Everyone is so nice and friendly and they give great service. So I give this Mexican restaurant my highest recommendation!

Very poor food quality. Everything tasted like it came out of a can or a jar that had been opened and sitting in a refrigerator for days. The tortilla chips tasted like they had been re-fried to warm them up, the guacamole was turning brown, the tortilla soup was clear broth with soggy, sad pieces of tortilla floating in it, and the salad was tired. On second thought, the salad was EXHAUSTED! The food is horribly overpriced (nearly $50.00 for four, no alcohol) for the level of quality and freshness you get here. Although the decor was bright and cheerful, the floor felt like it had a layer of grease on it. Youll get a much better meal for a lot less money at Chipotle! Not sure how this place stays in business serving such low quality food.

This place is quite popular, and although Im not exactly wowed, it hasnt disappointed me either. Its probably THE Mexican spot for Sierra Madre, and honestly, its fine. Ive taken my kids there both times, and its a good place for families, and theres sidewalk tables too, and being Sierra Madre, this idea is way better than, say, downtown LA. I also get the distinct impression that this is an excellent place to drink, and it may even be walking distance to a fair portion of the neighborhood. Im giving it four stars for what it is in the context of the neighborhood, which is a solid "Good". In a more Mexicentric neighborhood, it would face some stiff competition.

Ive had food from here that was mediocre at best. Ingredients are not quality. What bothers me the most is that I walked in there the other day to order just a side of rice to go, and it cost $6.59, I was appalled, that much for a side of rice. Are they out of their minds. What makes it worse, is that the rice sucked, was bland, overly oily and there were some burnt pieces mixed in, which made it taste terrible. I will never go back. This place is a joke. Also, the bathroom is disgustingly filthy, which makes you question how sanitary the kitchen is.

Terrible. We arrived at Casa at 5:35 and placed our order immediately since we had a play to attend at 7:00. At 6:15 we still had not been served our meals. People who came after us was served. I asked if it was because we were Afro Americans. Of course the answer was no. I couldnt even get a manager to the table I was given a business card to call the owner. If youre Afro American I do not recommend this place. We received our meal at 6:18 and it was not good. Bad cooks.

My wife and I have been coming to Casa Del Rey for over 40 years (starting at the original location that used to be on Las Tunas in Temple City). We went there with my wifes parents to celebrate our engagement announcement in 1975 and now we will be going back in a few days (to their Sierra Madre location) to celebrate my sons engagement! We love eating at the Casa and highly recommend it to everyone! Paul & Janice

The quality of the mexican food here is out of this world. Everything is phenomenal. I also like "The Most Interesting Man In The World" cutout behind the bar. He makes me feel like Everything is gonna be ok. If you cant decide what you want, try the large nachos. It looks and tastes like Zeus himself forged them in Olympus.

Nice outdoor seating, I can have my dog with me. Delicious margaritas. Excellent food. They dont use the gringo spice black pepper, which I am allergic to. Now that is authentic Mexican food. I absolutely love the staff, especially Nico!

Carnitas are mush and way to salty. I stopped going even before a family in town told me they all got sick after eating there.
