Food was gross. The mac and cheese tasted overseasoned, the meatloaf was hard, the stuffing flavorless. And those were the edible things. After attempting to eat the prepared foods I decided to switch to the salad. Mistake. The spring mix was rotten. Im talking black sludge on the greens. Used the iceberg mix instead which is pretty much that packaged stuff they sell in supermarkets. The pizza was the worst pizza I ever had. The cheesecake was the worst cheesecake I ever had. By the end of the meal my dining companion and I ended up telling each other, "check out how nasty -this- tastes! To make matters worse, the next table to us were complaining the entire time about how gangs of hoodlums come and steal receipts so they could get free food, and the entire staff knew about it. They complained that someone stole their receipt and their table even though there were literally no fewer than 50 empty tables in the place. Dude, youre 90 years old and senile you probably wiped your arse in the bathroom with the receipt and forgot about it. The staff was the only saving grace. Very friendly. I hope they dont eat here.

+ This place lets you get YOUR OWN mother f***ing water unlike that piece of s*** Golden Corral which has waitresses trolling you by treating water like its morphine, putting water all over your table/seat everytime you stand up, getting angry at you for "taking too long to eat", etc. + The waitresses here are friendly and dont troll you in any way + Interior is not bad + Its not full of 80 year old 400lbs couples coughing all over you like theyre about to have a heart attack like at Golden Corral / Has dividers but theyre kind of short so you have to crouch a little while eating if youre tall (Golden Corral has none so this morbidly obese trucker guy was sitting in the very back giving everyone who tried to sit in the row this angry stare and I s*** you not that entire row was empty because of him) - A lil expensive - No music Would give 5 stars if fit was $10 instead of $12, or if it had taller table dividers, or if it played music

This place is awesome. At first I was very skeptical about going here because of all the bad reviews here. But since my friend never have a buffet before, I wanted to take him here. Turns out, the cashier up front was super friendly, she welcomed us. Not only that, u can tell this place is a family place. It wasnt busy, and the atompshere was graceful. The waitress, Flor, who is super friendly lady, came to us and just started to talk to us, like we are friends. She is a hard worker for sure, Her Hopistality skill is over the top. The food also is amazing and delicious. I mean u got mexican, chinese, american, southern food. Many options. I love it. I never write reviews on anything, and this is my first one. The reason why I wrote this, because they dont deserve all the bad reviews here. And Im gonna be one to say this place is awesome.:))) Keep up the good work everyone, Thanks Flor for the awesome service. -3/23/2017

A pox on Google Maps reviewers for giving this place 4 stars. A pox on all your houses. This place is both disgusting and unnerving. There was water leaking on the floor under the food with no discernable effort by the staff to mop it up. The syrup for the pancakes/waffles was left unfilled for ten minutes. An employee unapologetically cut in front of me in the drink line. The food was soggy. Hoards of grubby little munchkins scurried about unsupervised. I mean really, this was my own private brand of hell. Maybe thats a bit strong. Lets just say I eat at the National City Hometown Buffet and weep for our future. The only reason I gave it two stars is because the lady cleaning my table and the omelette guys were nice (although the omelette guy was clearly inexperienced).

Father and I went to Hometown Buffet in National City today for Sunday brunch. The service from our server Flor was most excellent. I wish i could saybthe same for the preparation. The pork ribs I had were tough and dry. Ribs need to be boiled and seasoned before roasting/grilling them so they are tender and fall off the bone. The country fried steak was also over cooked, the country gravey was acceptable eventhough it came pre-made and just heated up. Next I tried the Prime Ribeye. The Ribeye was also over cooked...Ribeye to maintain it tender needs to be served medium rare not well done and dry. The only thing acceptable that I consumed was the salad and hashbrowns. Everything else I mentioned above I took one bite and set it aside.

Ahora entiendo xq van a cerrar pos wow.... espero q lo q me comí no me haga daño

My dad used to take us to this Home Town Buffet in National City for decades. The food was great and all of us in our family loved it. fast forward to a few years ago Home Town changed management and everything started to deteriorate from food quality and food availability to service. So we decided not to come back to this location or any other. Last Saturday 6/24/2017 we were in the area and decided to give Home Town another chance and to our surprise everything was back to "Normal" like I remember. All my food favorites were there, food was great and service was excellent. Keep it up !! We will come back again.

First off its actually a minus 5 star!! Let me start by saying please dont eat here!!!! Before my incident with a huge ass German cacaroah roaming around the foodline almost climbing on my plate!! I ate here on Thursdays with the kids it has always been a good value with the $1.99 kids price I never really liked much of the food myself because the cooks at this location are probably the worst out all the hometowns Ive been to we only came to this location because they closed the best location and left the worst dont make sense the only advice I can give is go to the Chula Vista location

I think there is something seriously wrong with this food. Its a buffet so I came ready to eat but I could barely stomach the food... It smells like a retirement home in here. You may think thats offensive but its not meant to be. People LIVE in retirement homes. Its not supposed to smell like someone lives here!!! The first thing I ate, the mac and cheese, tasted so foul that I could only imagine something disgusting that someone may have done to it. Unless you like watery cheese, soggy bread, and bloody chicken, I suggest staying away.

My family and I went there last year for the last time, because. While I was eating I asked my family "is it just me or does everything taste terrible? " everyone. Nodded their head that it wasnt just me,& everything did taste terrible. .I have noticed the one location at the college area San Diego. Where I used to get breakfast was also shut down and abandoned. I also remember leaving post messages. For Anthony Wedo that were ignored and never returned. So much forr Undercover Boss!
