NOTE: This review was written in April, 2009. Its possible the food has improved :) --- I used to live in Germany and Im addicted to Doener Kebabs and kebab platters. Juicy tender melt-in-your-mouth meat with a delicious creamy and potent garlic sauce with raw onions sometimes even goat cheese mixed in. Unfortunately, this schwarma wasnt remotely as tasty :-(. Hummus: pretty good. Bread: just a little bit crisp, nicely fresh. Meat? Dry dry dry. I knew I was in trouble when I couldnt really tell the lamb from the beef in this beef-lamb schwarma plate. What a disappointment! Granted, the service was decent and the price reasonable for the amount of food (it was a very large platter, so for $10 you could quite possibly feed two not-famished people). But theres something wrong when the meat I get from a frozen dinner is more juicy and flavorful than the meat from a restaurant :(. Hence, 2 1/2 stars, rounded down to two.

I love Mediterranean food, especially things like falafel, hummus, and kebabs. I was excited to find out that we lived within walking distance of this place. I have to eat gluten free. I explain this at the counter. I specifically ask if my vegetarian plate comes with plain rice or not (its common for some rice sides to include pasta). They say its just rice. Great! I order my food. Sure enough they served me the rice with pasta. They did swap it out with plain rice after I asked, but I dont think they really understood what the problem was for me. I wont be going back.

I was in Mountain View for a short visit and was staying very close to this restaurant so thought I would try it. I was pleasantly surprised when I ate here. The restaurant is a no frills place and relies only on its hospitable hosts and scrumptious food. I highly recommend the falafel and hummus here. I have not tried the deserts until date and cannot comment on them. The place is only about 3 months old and already gets pretty crowded in the evening. There are a few other Mediterranean eateries on Castro Street but this one gets top honors in my books.

Halal Sign on window and Owners are Known Muslims. Went here for lunch with a friend. I had the beef/lamb platter ($9.99). I had to get some hot sauce on the side. It came with rice, hummus and choice of salad. Everything was pretty good. I also ordered a mint tea, but was slightly disappointed that it was just a prepackaged tea bag in hot water. Service was good. This place gets packed during lunch time. Parking is usually difficult in this area (Castro Street). Will have to come back again to try some of the other menu items.

Very good food, but unfortunately they have very poor customer service. I called today to ask if they had any special offers or discounts for regular customers. He proceeded to say no and explain, but hung up before giving me the oppurtunity to respond and explore other options. I tried calling back twice. On the second attempt he put me on hold only to curse me out at his office when he got off hold and threaten to call the police. Very poor behavior for a restaurant that delivers such good food.

My husband and I had lunch here on Sunday and I must say, they have the BEST Falafel I have ever had. My husband had the Chicken Shish Kebob and he absolutley loved it. We came back the following Friday for dinner and again the food was consistant and delicious. The service was excellent and the owner was very friendly. If you want authentic, delicious, Mediterranean food I would suggest you give this place a shot.

This place is a diamond in the rough! Instantly when you walk in, the smell of the BBQ makes you want to stay. This place is also the first that doesnt marinate their meat in yogurt or use gluten in their felafel. An excellent place to go to if you are gluten-free or dairy-free. Will definitely be coming back here :)

I tried the lamb and beef shawerma. Note the unusual (incorrect?) spelling. The meat was definitely not cooked on a spit and tasted like over-cooked pot roast. My friend tried the falafel wrap and liked the falafel, but not the wrap or the pickles. Will definitely not go back.

My long-time go to spot for consistently good Mediterranean food at reasonable prices. Fast and courteous service. They have tables outside where you can people watch or inside. Can get rather crowded at lunch time, so I usually go early. Highly recommended.

Not a bad little place for a quick kebab / kebob for lunch. Im used to really good kebabs (the kind that are wrapped) in Australia and this is about as close as Ive found so far in the Bay Area. Very unflashy place, by okay for a quick lunch.

Shawarma was tasty but menu was confusing and slightly pricey. I asked for clarification and the lady taking my order got defensive and angry. No Greek style gyros with the lamb meat and pita bread. Shawarma only in a whole wheat tortilla.

the Mediterranean Grill House cooks Falafel to order, it wont sitting around in some tray, and the Baba Ganoush in the Falafel plate was excellent with lots of garlic, well above average, even toasted/warmed the pita bread slices!

Delicious food! The chicken shawarma and the hummus is really good. The owner is kind and very friendly to large groups. The seating arrangement was a bit packed but the service was fast and courteous. Id like to visit again.

Few restaurants make rice as good as they do here. The hummus is also excellent. If you like garlic, ask for the garlic dip for your pita bread, it is a real treat. My wife and I eat here about once a week we like it so much.

took their beef shawarma to go, the beef was tender and perfectly made, Hummus was solid as well as the vegetables. Def. one of the best mediterranean places around, but they could work a bit on their service

Great service, great food, great selection. We would come more often if we didnt live so far away. Ive had them cater a few of our events as well! The chicken Shawerma plate is my favorite!

The food was good. I am a foreigner. I dont know whether I should tip here. Anyway, I tipped 15%. The waiter didnt passed me the napkin and fork, and I had to fetch them by myself.

Their vegetarian dishes seem fine; Im not a big fan of their chicken dishes, though. And among friends whove tried it, the vegetarians seem to like it more than the meat-eaters.

People are very polite and accommodating. Place can get busy. Been there a lot and food has missed the mark some times. Have been served dried meat or cold food at times

This was an okay place. The food was great. However the service was just ok. The server was not really interested in anything. However this place is great for takeout.

Great food for the price and i recommend to get the hummus instead of the baba ganush, its way tastier and you should also get smoke chicken shawerma, the meat is A1

Nice place for a quick Mediterranean bite. For vegetarians, the mujjadarrah platter is particularly good. They are willing to change the sides if you ask them to.
