You want great food, go here! Next time you are looking for something new and willing to drive (from Seattle) a little bit check out Montalcino. Its easy to blow off a review as exaggerating, but please trust me, this is some of the best Italian food anywhere, worldwide. Ive been 5 times and each time myself and everyone with me had fantastic food in addition to enjoying the wine, drinks, and ambiance. Nearly everything from the kitchen has caused myself and others to look up and say how amazing it tastes. A good example is a truffle cheese that I have had served between courses. It comes as several small unassuming slivers of cheese. Each crumble of this stuff is out of this world and this is a tiny example of their amazing food. Several days ago I had a special that was a mushroom tortellini with a cream sauce and wild boar meat. I normally dont love mushrooms nor cream sauce, but something told me to trust it because everything here is so good. I have to say that after the first taste, I believe that this is the best tasting food I have ever put in my mouth (top 3 bare minimum). Again, not kidding or exaggerating. My wife agreed. We had intended on sharing 2 entrees, but essentially spent half the meal stealing bites from this special. The other menu items were, as usual, out of this world as well. The setting is a wonderfully quaint, small space a half block off Front St. Parking is easy, and I can usually get a reservation, but maybe not at my desired time as they are popular. Portion size is large to enormous, plan on showing up hungry. My only two complaints would be that desert is good, but not out of the world as the rest of the menu. Also, prices are appropriate given portion size and quality (with a bunch of organic ingredients), but its a bit more money than Id like to spend, especially since I want to be there every night. Roughly $30/entree. Bottom line is, if you think youve tried all the great food in the greater Seattle area, you havent had it all without visiting Montalcino.

We spent two weeks in Piamonte several years ago and spent nearly every afternoon eating delicious food. Eating at Montalcino is like being back in Italy. There are appetizers, primi, secondi, and desserts. Went with friends on a Sunday evening and nothing that anyone ordered was anything other than spectacular. The guys had two different dishes with wild boar. The gals had two different kinds of lobster pasta. For secondi the guys split the lamb, and the gals split the chicken. The portions are American and not Italian sized, so we should have ordered less food because even trying to split the secondi left us with far too much food, but everything was magnificent. The restaurant isnt big, so make a reservation. Also there was a guitar player/singer who, in the small restaurant, is a little loud, but the couple we went with really enjoyed him. Cant wait for the next special occasion when we can introduce more people to the food!

This is a lovely restaurant perfect to make an evening very special. We were treated as honored guests from the moment we walked in. Everything we tasted was delicious, from the homemade ravioli to the chocolate dipped cannoli. We were celebrating our anniversary and they made so many little touches to make our evening special. Somehow the small restaurant is arranged so that each table has its own privacy. I was also so appreciative of how cool and comfortable the restaurant was even though the day was quite warm and so many restaurants in older buildings heat up. The service was excellent and the food was incredible. Thank you for a magical evening. I cannot wait to return.

Greeting at door was cold to rude. We seated ourselves even with reservations. First bite of food was good, but then the waitress dropped a glass container of silverware which splattered glass and utensils all around us. She was apologizing and about to replace our food with the door oaf starting mouthing off at US and telling her that we were all right as is. We walked out and will never go back. Did not know the door oaf, but do know he is a jerk who has no business around humans.

I love this restaurant. Cozy, intimate, upscale , a great menu and a large wine list. The portions are exceptional (plenty left over for dinner the next night) The specials are varied and delicious. It works for an intimate evening out or for a dinner meeting for business. Service is very attentive. I like the family owned atmosphere and attention to detail. Highly recommend for any occasion. Make reservations as they are always full.

Good Italian inspired place. I can see why it is so highly rated amongst locals. For my personal taste, its sometimes a bit of an overkill to put so many different sources of fat into one hand made beautiful fresh pasta dish. Im referring to one in particular that had pulled wild boar, pancetta, and heavy cream based sauce. Next time Ill be asking for just the pasta since it was perfectly done without too many additions.

Took my wife here for dinner. Small place. Varied menu with daily specials. My wife had a seafood pasta and I had short ribs. My wifes dinner was a little spicy but she enjoyed it. The short ribs were fall off the bone tender. We had tiramisu and Bomba Chocolato for desert, both were very good. Service was excellent. Reasonable prices if spending about $60 each is the norm. Will definitely go back again.

This place was amazing. The wife and I got in due to a cancellation, and were extremely happy. The food excellent, I had the Lasagne, and she had the lamb, both of which were so very delicious. It is a small restaurant but we didnt feel overly cramped or too close to other tables. We were able to carry on a good conversation without feeling like we needed to shout. We will most definitely be back.

Truly Phenomenal. This is a must if you are able to, what I mean is that this place is not for the budget conscious, but well worth it. I waited and saved to go, it was the best dining experience that I have been fortunate to enjoy in many years. The service team is on it. The food was the best Italian I have ever had eating out (moms at home is the only one that rivals it).

I love authentic Italian food and this place has it. The homemade bread was perfect, loved the bruschetta and I was swooning over the lobster ravioli I got. They also brought out cheese and it was heavenly. Be sure to get a reservation, this place is small and no one was waiting (which I loved). It is perfect for an intimate and unique dining experience.

I LOVED this restaurant.Being Italian I dont normally go out for Italian food because I can make better at home, however this place is special. Its small and intimate, the service is outstanding, and the food scrumptious. Its definitely a "special occasion" restaurant, but for your special occasion you cant beat it.

This is the definitive Italian dining experience in the greater Seattle area. The service is magical, the cuisine quality and presentation is exceptional and is complemented by an incredible wine list that includes their family wines from Tuscany. Be advised this is a small venue and reservations are essential.
