Was very excited to try this place after seeing it on many top dim sum places in LA lists and great reviews. We got there at 2:20 and was greeted by a rude woman. The place was not busy and yet she sat us in the back room in a tight corner right next to all the lazy susans. During my entire meal a staff member would walk behind me to retrieve a lazy susan and bump me with no apology. After a minute after being seated, the rude woman came and screamed at us to order because the kitchen closed at 2:40 and the restaurant closed at 3:00pm. Being rushed, I checked off a few things after looking at the picture menu. It turns out the order of the food in the picture menu does not correspond to the numbers. So the top row first four is not #1, #2, #3, or #4. So we got items that we did not want. After getting our first two dim sum which came out quickly, the rude woman came with the bill and demanded that we pay. So we did and after that, we got zero service. The rest of the dim sum came quickly but no one came to refill out tea which costs $1.20 a person. I had to go find the large hot water canister to refill it. Later, I had to find a to go box. Foodwise, it was okay. The Shu-Mai and the Har Gow were large but I have seen large ones that tasted better elsewhere. They use a lot of MSG and salt. Most of their dishes were either salty or flavorless (such as the Bean Curd Wrap and the Fried Taro Cake). The restaurant is a dump. There are cracks in the wall and the bathrooms were flooded and dirty. As we left, the rude woman was sitting at the first table stuffing herself. She looked up but did not bother to say anything. Totally rude. We will not be coming back, ever.

This is our go to Dim Sum place. Be aware that lines can be very long and you may need to park on the street. As far as service goes, it is pretty standard for a busy Chinese dim sum place. Some quick tips if youre not familiar with dim sum 1. Be prepared to stop the wait staff (in black) to ask specially for waters, forks, dipping sauces that you may want. 2. If you run out of hot tea, lift the lid and place it tilted on the top of your pot as an indicator for the wait staff to refill your pot with water. 3. If there are specific desserts you want, order it first as it can run out if you request it after. This includes the snow bun (filled with almond milk pudding) and egg custards. 4. When you are ready to leave give your receipt book to a wait staff in black. Typically I just hold it up in the air and they will run by and grab it from you. You can ask for boxes at this point.

Elite Restaurant is an order-off-the-checklist-menu dim sum restaurant, which I prefer since the food is more fresh and you dont feel as bad turning away the Chinese ladies hawking their food. My group of 5 arrived around 10:30am and the wait was only about 10 minutes long--come any later though, and your wait time can be up to an hour plus! I was really impressed with the quality of the food coming out of the kitchen and the pace of their service too. This was some of the best siu mai and har gow AND chicken feet Ive had anywhere, and Ive been itching to return to Elite Restaurant. The only thing that I wouldnt order again is the steamed turnip since I like the pan-fried version. Maybe its the fatty inside me talking. Otherwise, I enjoyed everything from the food to the company, and hope you can make it out to Chinatown for a delicious visit sometime!

I ordered just 4 dishes and and got full. What the heck is going on with their dim sum size, where both har gow and shu mai was huge. Especially for har gow, the dumplings skin immediately separated from the shrimp fillings as I reach it with my chopstick. The whole dim sum eating experience was taken away by this unusual size of dumplings. I was never the one to complain about the portion but this would be my exception. Because of the size, the price seemed unreasonably high. Between two of us, we shared only 4 less than average taste dishes. I personally wont go back here again.

This place is pricy. I mean, quality is good, but we had a party of 9 adults and 2 9 year olds, and rang up a $228 bill! They charged us $14 for tea! I think we had 4 refills, but $14? That should be free. They also charged $10 for our rice. As for the dim sum, the shiu Mai is a pretty good portion for $3.28. 4 large not-as-greasy pork and shrimp goodness. But man the prices are a deal breaker. We also got some red bean taro sesame balls and some egg tarts. Again, really flavorful, but really no different than NBC down the street.

There are some dim sum dishes that are very well-done at Elite, but there are several drawbacks that take away from the overall experience. The wait times can be very long on the weekends, the staff is rude, the prices are higher than other dim sum restaurants with similar quality food, and ordering off a disposable paper menu by marking your selections can be a little cumbersome, if you decide you want more food; traditional dim sum restaurants that have cart-pushers career to the needs of gluttons much better.

I am just not fond of Cantonese food..Everything that is considered to be "vegetarian" were pretty much the same dishes. I ordered 4 different vegetarian dishes but when it came out it was literally the same thing with maybe a slight difference with an add of 1 or 2 different in vegetable or soy bean ?! I wouldnt recommend it if you are pure vegan there literally isnt much to eat and def. not the healthiest of choices even if you are just eating vegetables...everything is so overly gravy and greasy!

Finally got the chance to try this place out , and yes a crowd starts to pick up after they open . So I suggest to arrive when it opens . So at this place you order off the menu, not the typical dim sum places that the servers push the cart around . Its a bit pricey, but the quality can be seen and tasted . It takes a while for your items to arrive. So its best to order everything at once . They charge for the condiments , but to be honest the dim sum tasted so good nothing else was needed .

I wish this place was in LA so I could come here every day. It is the perfect dim sum experience, minus the carts. Prices are very affordable/reasonable, and they have a huge variety of foods. They also have some East meets West fusion dim sum, like deep fried taro balls and green dough? I took off one star because parking is a hard to find, customer service is so-so, and they force-charge you for tea. But other than that, I wanna come here every day for the rest of my life.

While there is no shortage of dim sum restaurants in Monterey Park, LAs nouveau Chinatown, Elite is a standout for its vegetarian options, not typically offered at meat-centric dim sum places. Try the fried tofu with sweet sauce or the delicious baby bok choy to compliment the traditional shrimp and pork dumplings. If you dare, venture into the dessert zone. The sesame balls are yummy. You can also order off menu. Ask the friendly servers for suggestions.
