My husband and I went to this place for dinner. We ordered a plate of steamed dumplings. It was okay but nothing exceptional. It wasnt juicy inside as a good dumpling is supposed to be and the meat mixture didnt taste fresh at all. Tasted like it was pre-cooked. I make dumplings at home and I know if a dumpling is freshly made or not. Then I ordered a plate of beef with black pepper sauce which came with a bowl of rice. I feel terrible to comment even about the complimentary bowl of rice. First of all it wasnt a good quality rice and secondly it was over-cooked. The beef dish was.. meh. The next dish was crispy pan-fried noodle. It was way too salty and oily. There was nothing good about that dish. It was a disaster. Overall, it lacked the good texture we expect in dishes that are sauteed on a high flame. Nothing tasted fresh. Not a place for the foodies.

Golden Phoenix USED to be one of my favorites...the first time I ate there. Then the next time I went, because my family doesnt eat beef or pork, we asked for the family dinner special with chicken substitutions. The server agreed, including mentioning "no extra charge". But then she brought out pork-filled soup. And sweet and sour pork! We asked her to return the inedible dishes, but she gave us grief, going so far as to poll others in the restaurant about our order - whether or not we were in the wrong! Then she went into the kitchen, yelling up a storm and completely embarrassing us. FOOD - not what we ordered. SERVICE - loud, rude, untrustworthy, lacking, & inappropriate. VALUE FOR $$ - not worth the hassle. ENVIRONMENT - small, cluttered, not very private/quiet. NEVER RETURNING AGAIN!

My wife and I LOVE Golden Phoenix! We order there at least a few times a month. Our favorite dish is the Orange Chicken and we always upgrade to fried rice. Its enough food to feed both of us for 2 meals, but were not huge eaters. For many people itll cover just 1 meal. Anyway, the fried wontons are really good too. Food comes out pretty fast and the people that work there are friendly. I wouldnt necessarily call them "talkative", but when youre just ordering food its not really a bad thing. Listen this isnt a classy fine dining establishment, but the food is really good, not expensive, and it gets the job done right when youre jonesing for some Chinese food.

We order take out food delivered from here at least twice a month. The food is always very good with quality ingredients. My only complaint is that they dont have brown rice. White rice comes with almost everything & my family doesnt like it ( I save it to make rice pudding the next day ) so we always order a fried rice to share with our meals. I think weve tried all of them & all have been good. Some people say it takes too long for the food to be delivered but that has not been our experience. It usually arrives in 30-45 minutes & I think thats reasonable.

I love this place....total hole in the wall ....you could easily drive by this place and not give it a chance...BUT youd be missing some really good and reasonably priced Chinese food!! The food portions are large and great for the dollar value...if you like orange chicken ...this is gonna be your favorite place for it!! The owner is there always serving his customers with a smile and takes your order by memory....I will continue to come here for Chinese food and recommend it to family, friends, and co-workers.

I ordered for delivery which is free if you spend $15 or more. The food came piping hot and very fresh only 30 minutes after I put in my order. They give you a ton of food! I ordered seafood chow fun wet with gravy, broccoli beef and egg foo young. Everything was good, but I didnt care for the egg foo young too much. I was expecting an omelette, and they made it into a salty little patties covered in gravy. Not a fan of that. Other than that, fast delivery, good service, fresh hot food.

The first impression one gets when walking into the place is that its very non fancy and seems hardly any different than any other family owned chinese restaurant. However, plain walls and generic decor aside, this chinese restaurant is by far the best one around. Excellent food and very friendly customer service is what I receive each time I go there. If you are in the area then you should definately give them a try.

Some of the best Chinese in the Lakewood / Long Beach ares. Their food is fresh, tasty and they have huge portions a la Chinese family dinning. Their fried rice is awesome: every bite there is a little piece of pork rib meat or shrip. Also their curry beef and pork are amazing. My wife and I also enjoy the chicken chow mein. You can order online on their website and on Yelp and they do delivery too!

My husband and I love this place! We automatically think of golden pheonix anytime we have a Chinese food craving. The staff is always friendly and always gets our order right. Its wonderfully priced. The major plus is that they deliver, for those nights your so tired, you dont want to cook or go anywhere. Weve told all of our friends and family about them! We will never complain

I love it here. The Mongolian Beef (I ask for it non spicy) is to die for good! The place needs some cosmetic updates, but what they lack in style, they more than make up in great food and very friendly service. I would give them 5 stars, however I feel it needs to be updated. This is NOT dollar Chinese food. Its a great restaurant and they have great food.

I had read great reviews for this restaurant. When we arrived, the place looked a little small and unattractive. We decided to go ahead and try it anyway. We are glad that we did. You get great service, the food is very tasty and delicious. The prices are very affordable. This is a very unique place that you have to try.

This has got to be one of the best Chinese Restaurants ever! Great food at a nice price and plenty of it. My favorite is the calamari. Perfectly cook!! And the walnut shrimp is heavenly. Do yourself a favor and try this food... you cant go wrong.

Very clean and inviting family atmosphere. Tried the rice noodle house special and a couple other dishes, enjoyed everything. The service here was great and the people were very friendly to us and our young children.

I ordered delivery they took 1 hour my soup was cold the fry chicken wings were dry and chewy . The worst Chinese food in lakewood/longBeach avoid this place !!!!
