The Kitchen is a better place for dinner because the dim sum isnt anything special. Ha Gow - The skins were mushy and broke when I tried to pick them up with chopsticks. The shrimp stuffing was better. It was full of plump and firm shrimp, but couldve used more seasoning and young bamboo for more sweetness. In their defense, good Ha Gow are almost impossible to find around here. Siu Mai - Although they were filled with tender minced pork and fresh shrimp, there were no shiitake mushrooms inside. Without the earthy and umami notes, the Siu Mai were missing a lot of flavor. Daikon Cakes - Not enough Chinese cured and dried goodies. The texture was a little off, too. Im not sure how to exactly describe it, but it may have been slightly gelatinous? In any case, it was weird. Steamed Tripe - Pretty good. The texture was springy and firm, and it was sweet, peppery, and garlicky. Im more used to tasting more green onions and ginger, but it was still good. Cha Siu Rice Noodle Roll - The rice noodle roll was pretty nice - not too thick and very smooth. There was a good amount of cha siu, but it had too much cilantro for my tastes. If you love that stuff, then knock yourself out. To me, I thought it overwhelmed the sweet flavor of the cha siu. Ja Leurng - We ordered this by verbally telling the waiter, and he brought back something we didnt recognize. Instead of a donut wrapped in a rice noodle roll, it was shrimp and panko. It didnt taste bad with the plump and fresh shrimp, but it didnt have that airy chewiness that I wanted. I appreciate the effort to make something more creative, but I just wanted a plain donut. Panko and shrimp didnt make the proper conceptual substitute. Roasted Pork Leg - This is something I would normally get during dinner, but its great to have it anytime. I just decided to get it since the dim sum wasnt that great. I think its probably the best thing they make. The skin is crispy, and the shank meat is well seasoned and tender. The spices they use give it an irresistible aroma. The Kitchens approach to Cantonese food seems to work better for dinner. More of the thoughtfully prepared dishes show up on the evening menu. The dim sum is largely forgettable.

This is a popular place to come for dim sum. It is somewhere in between "budget" and "high-end" dim sum for both quality and price. Overall we think it is a pretty good value. Although the restaurant is quite spacious It is still best to get there early even on weekdays to avoid a wait. For dim sum, The Kitchen uses an order form as opposed to other places that send the wait staff around with trays or carts. The order form style works okay for a couple people; Ive wondered if ordering from trays and carts on the fly is easier for a larger group. The service staff has been attentive. However, more than once one of our dishes has either been quite late or didnt show up until we asked about it, so make sure that your order is complete. We have been disappointed with take-out service. We called on December 31 to confirm that we could get a take-out order on January 1, and the answer was "Yes". We asked if we should place the order in advance or order the next day, and the answer was "Order tomorrow". When we called the next day to place our order we were told, "Too busy, no take-out, bye."

its good chinese food, not great but not bad. not typical run of the mill and service was a bit lacking. just landed from NYC and looking for a good place to eat. Of course everyone in the area said that everything was closed but noooo, took out my handy dandy yelp app and searched for open places at 10:45 at night. Found this GEM in the all closed up downtown burlingame. Walked in and was seated on a cornet table that reminded me when i was punished at school and they moved to to the corner and everyone made fun of the donkey hat we had to wear. Ordered the beef in papaya sauce and it was good i mean really good but for the fact that its 16 bucks and only had 4-5 slices of beef and tons of papaya. The sauce was sweet and tangy, you could tell it had ginger, garlic and a sweet bbq sauce that made it taste so good. Ordered rice on the side and it was bland.. like ewkk whats that.. The menu also has frog legs and other exotic things for everyones palate. definetly go again with someone that knows the food better, there where some things i have never heard of.

Came here for a late night food around 11:30 p.m. spot on a Friday night. There is street parking and public lot to the left of the restarant. Inside was brightly lit, the staff greeted us and sat us down. Ordered the Ribeye Steak with vegetables, Peking Spare Ribs, and Hot & Sour Soup. The Ribeye Steak and Vegetables was great. The ribeye was flavorful and mushrooms were huge. Hot & Sour Soup was just right, left a light warm "spiciness" down your throat. The Peking Spare Ribs had a slight crisp to it and lightly covered in a sweet sauce. Overall the service was fast and attentive for a late night spot for eats. The menu contained a lot more items such as a Cantonese section and a lot of choices for seafood dishes.

The food is excellent, even though sometimes they take a long time to come to your table. Our last experience was a bit disappointing though .We have dinner over there quite often , for birthdays etc. Yesterday, we had 2 tables to celebrate our sons birthday. When they were about to serve the birthday cakes that we brought, the lady told us that according the manager, there will be a charge of $25 per table to enjoy the birthday cake. The manager himself didnt have the face to tell us, instead...he just sent his employee to break the bad news. The lady said that she didnt know about this rule too, she was just told by the manager a moment ago. So we just took the cakes home and continue the celebration at home.

The food is excellent. Dim sum carts go around on weekends and all weekdays you order dim sum off a pater. It was recently renovated so it is very clean and spacious. The price is reasonable and the portions are relatively big. The food alone is 5 star but the service is 3. The restaurant is packed with local Chinese both at lunch and dinner times. Food is prepared in the traditional Chinese way and not modified for the American only paler. I think the restaurant should receive a higher rating.

I am very surprised that this restaurant receives such a low rating (3.4), its easily should be in 4 to 4.5. The place is packed with local Chinese either at lunch or dinner times. We drove by at dinner time but actually stopped by to eat dimsum on a different day. I would say the Dimsums are very good and approved even by my kids (little connoisseurs) and parents. I didnt tried the dinner dishes but I think they would be good too. Highly recommended!

The Kitchen has good chinese cuisine. They have a variety of local dim sum from chinese dumplings to sticky rice in lotus leaf. They have servers that come around and serve you food and you choose from the items they have. The prices are very fair in every dish that you choose. I mainly go to this location because my family goes yum cha every Saturday, so if we go yum cha this is the place to go
