Amazing food, everything on the menu is delicious, and if you love spicy food this is your restaurant. The spicy menu items arent just loaded with more spice, they change the spices used to make the dish to your desired spice while keeping the flavor consistent. The Chicken Tikka Masala is out of this world. The only thing better than the food is the service, where youll be served by the owner who knows the menu inside and out, and can help recommend items. Overall a fantastic dining experience. You owe it to yourself to try this place at least once; youll be hooked.

I have been a customer here for over 15 years. This is the best Indian food in the entire city. While the ambiance is casual the food is superior. JC is a wonderful restaurateur with a complete understanding of wine and food pairing. I cannot for the life of me understand anyone can give an negative comments about Akbar. To say they had to wait 15 minutes to order maybe they thought this was a fast food restaurant and didnt want a relaxing evening. I highly recommend that you give Akbar a try as their food is above and beyond any other Indian restaurant.

The food here is actually decent, but dont EVER order delivery from them. Just ordered online at 8pm, from 8:45pm until 9:15 I literally called 13 times and kept getting voicemail. When someone finally answered, they put me on hold for 10 minutes and then hung up on me. By the time I spoke with someone at 9:15pm, they told me that for "some reason" the order never went through to the kitchen. And now it was too late for them to fill it. Terrible service. A real shame, because the food is actually pretty good.

Orgasmic! Have a herbal appetizer at home before coming here and you will thank me. Or not. Either way this places food is to die for. My friends and I had a last supper themed dinner one night (ie what would you eat for your last meal...bring it) and no joke I got Akbar to go. Cant go wrong here. My faves are the melt in your mouth cheesy naan and the prawn madras. Chicken tikka masala and chicken akbari. Akbar always leaves you satisfied...a cleansing, spicy, flavorful yogic journey.

The food portions are perfect. The chicken kabobs are so delicious and has flavor. The price is reasonable but for most would be expensive. Even though their customer services is 4 star. I still will order my lunch and eat there for takeout because I love the food. Please make sure and call if your order has been prepared before going their. I almost waited over 45 minutes after I had asked several times if my order was ready and they kept say yes yes but it wasnt.

Had a very bad experience at this hotel , do not recommend anybody of you to go here ,I had traveled all the way from Denver to visit LA and was very hungry and reached this hotel straight from the airport and was denied the food stating kitchen is getting closed in another 10 minutes at 2.20 PM , I requested for take away then the hotel staff person agreed and kept telling to order faster and did not show any sympathy towards us.

Had been to Akbar a couple of years ago & had a great experience, so we decided to eat here again while visiting LA. Food was still very good, but the service by the waiter J.C. was very slow & inattentive. The person handling water duty was much more attentive; and would like be a much better waiter than JC. My recommendation would be to find another Indian restaurant. No 2nd drinks offered & no dessert offered.

Absolutely loved the food!!! Being an Indian, its difficult to find authentic Indian food here but I must say I love this place. For Chi downtown its a cheap place and the quantity is humongous!! I ordered paneer makhni and it came with a bowl of rice. I had the rice itself for 2 meals and Im sure I can have the paneer dish for at least 4 meals. So... Eat here if youre closeby and hungry!!

The host was pretty rude to begin with. And after 30 minutes of waiting for our food he tells us he forgot to put in our order. I respectfully paid for our appetizers and left a tip. Honestly, if he hadnt come off as an ssa, then I wouldnt have minded waiting. He said the food would be ready in 5 mins. So... Youre saying your faster than McDonalds in prepping Indian food? No thanks...

Friends and I love this place for their lunch specials. One of the best North Indian restaurants in the area, whether youre vegetarian or not. Flavors are high quality. Garlic naan is bomb. If youre feeling adventurous, they offer spice levels 1 to 5! Even 3 or 4 can get really spicy depending on what you order.

The food is good but I think the price is too high for the quantity they are providing and also as compared to other good Indian restaurants. Sitting area is a bit tight n not so comfortable but not so bad either. Food taste is very gud and close to authentic Indian food. Services are a bit slow too.

We ordered food yesterday and it was super expensive and really bad. My husband me are sick. They put too much salt in the food and was unedible. Dont order the kofta or the tikka masala. It was oversalted and overspiced. We also got burnt naans which were unedible. I do not reccommend it.

When I want quality Indian food, I always make my way over to Akbars. The service is friendly and the location is great although the parking lot is so small. I usually go for the chicken tikka masala or the Tandoori chicken, and of course, no meal is complete without a cool mango lassi.

We tried Akbar for the first time via take out, which we know could not be the best for judging, but we were beyond happy with everything we ordered. The seasoning and flavor is amazing! We ordered the tikimasala, lamb and paneer w/ nan- it was all incredible.

Their lunch specials are a steal. Their rating system for hotness is to be taken seriously, especially if they say they got new peppers in. Tikka Masala is a classic, and their lamb dishes are wonderful. I also really like the Chicken Madras (mango sauce).

The food was a bit on the spicy side but Im sure you can have that adjusted. Still, very tasty and flavorful. The place is dark, which I really like. The manager?/owner? is very friendly and knows quite a bit about wine. Decent wine selection.

The food is good. I recommend the sea bass and the mint chicken tikka kababs. Plan to get there early as the chefs quietly leave by ~9:30 and no-one announces a last call or lets you know that the kitchen is closing.

Nothing to drink for those who dont drink soda & dont want to try the mango smoothie . And the food wasnt good to me at all . Aside from some mango appetizer rolls /: ill stick to my Indian place in Hollywood

The food is authentic and really feels so good in your belly, tasty and not even expensive but they shut too early 10 on a Sat night! I wont underrate them for this though, as the food is that awesome.
