The restaurant is small, but cozy and very clean. Its decorated cutely (love the water basin for customer use off to the side) and they made great use of the small, open kitchen. Its tucked into a strip mall next to a donut shop and a cellular phone store. We came an hour before closing so it was understandable that the place was pretty dead and they were out of brisket. Despite that fact, the service was really lovely. Its a sort of Choose Your Own Adventure as you go down the line and you can assemble your own meal as a sandwich (on a french roll), as a salad (atop kale), as sliders (on Hawaiian rolls) or as a plate (with half a french roll on the side). They were patient and took the time to explain all the fixins, even giving us a sample of a sauce for us to try. The food portions were hefty and left us all full. A salmon option would be delicious! We did get the cookie and while delicious, I couldnt taste the "smoke" and there was a bit too much sea salt. I bet this place gets super busy during lunchtime hours and with good reason. A much high quality & healthier option than the McDonalds/KFC/Taco Bell around the block, and at a really affordable price.

I was home one day and I was kiiinda craving a little bit of a southern flavor. My friend said that there was this app that I could use to get food delivered and that there was Hiatus Urban BBQ which is kind of like a chipotle meets a southern bbq restaurant. The service was good (app) but the food was. I liked the pulled pork a lot. tender, moist, not dry at all. with the mustard sauce and crunchy ramen, It was new, but the food was not AS good as I thought. The texture was interesting (especially w the crunchy ramen). It was ALRIGHT. Try it if youre curious.

Tucked into a corner strip mall thats present seemingly on all LA corners, right next door to the ever present donut store, is this small bbq place. Friendly service and no line on a rainy day was very appreciated. Ordered the Crispy Pig, pulled pork with peppers and RAMEN?! The meat was delicious, succulent, and sweet and spicy, but not sure the ramen added to it. Guess its an alternative to traditional cole slaw? Overall, it was a tasty sandwich but not to the point Id rave about it.

This hole in the wall did not disappoint. I got the slider trio and although they ran out of brisket the pork and chicken options were really tasty. The pork sandwich was just the right amount of sweet and spicy while the chicken was juicy. I would definitely come back to try out one of the full length sandwiches or wraps. I am a Big Banh mi enthusiast so Im excited to see what their Banh mi is like. Also a check in got me a free cookie so that was a nice surprise.

Wow!!!!! Yes!!!!! Im writing this as I am swallowing a bite of their perfectly balanced sandwich- loaded with super tender meat, (crispy jalapenos?!! )deliciously glazed in bbq sauce, dressed with crisp cole slaw all in a Hawaiian roll. The sampler trio!!!! Must must must have. Also, God bless the employee who took time to bring it to me because I wasnt able to leave my work to grab it!!!!! That is a definite impression of excellent customer service!

This is not a true BBQ joint, so if youre looking for true southern BBQ just walk away. The meat is cooked well, not smoke thoroughly, but the spicy sauce helps lift everything up. They have a bunch of unique ingredients thrown together and called it a culinary breakthrough. No. Sometimes less is more. Portions are more than enough and service is amazing; thats the saving grace. Im torn because I wanted to love it but it fell very short for me.

Let me start by saying, this is not your typical BBQ spot. The meat is great, the BBQ sauce is darn good. What I like about it the most is the sides, they are refreshing, original and yes, healthy. Good portions too. The owners are welcoming and happy to guide you their great menu and process. Thanks for the great sandwich and dinner plate guys! Oh, pricing ok.

seriously? This is NO BBQ joint. they have exactly ONE item which is BBQ. Brisket. nothing else here is actually bbqed. For me If I cant smell the smoke when I approach the joint it aint BBQ. Try JnJ or Phillips instead. Sorely disappointed is the lack of serious BBQ variety. Having one BBQ item does not make a for a great BBQ joint. AVOID Sorry. YMF

Was in the area for work and was craving BBQ so tried this place. It was pretty solid. I got a chicken BBQ sandwich. Good portion and the BBQ sauce was on point. Definitely a hole in the wall but serves decent food. Guy working behind the corner was really friendly as well. Overall, a pretty decent place.

Dont think I went to the same place you did, both my BBQ plates were a totally mess kid! Come here if you like a soggy bun, super sour and tart sides too hun! Corn and beans were definitely bland, Not coming back if you paid me a grand! Hate when I follow the hype, Just to find out it its not ripe.

I came back for my third time. I went with the vegetarian option, plate with a side of ginger baked beans. For the bbq sauce I went with sweet and spicy combo. The food filled me up, was different from the usual lunch options and was reasonably priced. I am going to keep coming back!

Just happened across this place. Always willing to try some good bbq and did this place not disappoint. Everything looked so good but i went with the slider sampler. Chicken, Pork and Brisket and they were all delicious. I will be back to try more for sure!

Si mangia benissimo, fa anche catering e consegna a domicilio, il luogo è piccolo ma ci si sta bene.

If I could give Hiatus 5 more stars, I would! All the meat is cooked to perfection and the different variations of coleslaw are to die for. This is a must have BBQ experience...on a weekly basis of course!!!

Very healthy and imaginative traditional BBQ featuring pulled pork and slow roasted brisket seasoned appropriately for a user friendly, very tasty dining experience. Excellent culinary creativity.

I was hoping for a good bbq meal and friendly service, but I got neither. The chicken was burnt charcoal..but yet still under cooked. The coleslaw kale ...was not good. I wouldnt go here again.

Not your traditional BBQ joint. But if you like good quality and reasonable prices you will be happy you stopped. Skinny pig salad is the best. This is our go to lunch spot.

The pulled pork w/ crispy slaw sandwich is incredible. Small place and not really somewhere to go relax or hang a bit. But delicious food and really nice staff.
