I consider this particular Groundwork location to be a great neighbor and an active part of the neighborhood. The workers are always friendly and the coffee is great. Groundwork in general is an L.A. institution, roasting coffee locally for decades. Great quality coffee at much more reasonable prices than some of the newer, trendier specialty coffee joints. The whole beans are a particularly good deal, often selling a full pound for less than what other places charge for 12 oz and on top of that, bean purchases come with a free drink! I am particularly a fan of the Viora lids they put on their paper cups... closest thing to the experience of drinking from a mug that youll ever get from a paper cup. I havent seen these lids anywhere else in L.A. or even Seattle for that matter.

I love groundwork, but more especially this location! The coffee is so good, the staff is incredibly kind and helpful - Jeff, Kate, Arneet, Angel, Kira and Ainsley! Their like neighborhood friends. Really its the first coffee shop in LA Ive gone to where they dont seem PAINED to serve their customers but actually delighted. Coming from the south, its refreshing. People are really good at complaining when something is wrong, but I think these people are doing it right and they deserve accolade. Glad I found this place.

Ive been here a few times due to its proximity to my work and it always leaves me disappointed. The portion size for the steel cut oats was about the size of a baby food jar, the quesadilla had like one thin layer of cheese, and the last time i was there they were out of eggs so i ordered something else only to be told they closed the kitchen (it was lunch time! ). This place is ridiculous and the only reason it does well is because hipsters will like anything that is overpriced.

I got my debit card information stolen from here and had to deal with reporting fraudulent charges and the works. I know the fraud happened at this location because I never use my debit card but accidentally used it the last time I was here. I still have the card...so I assume that someone who works there got my info out of the credit card reader/database/system thing.

This a great coffee place in DTLA art district. Nothing artsy and fancy like Urth cafe just which is only few blocks away... just simple good coffee! I have been buying their cold brew AND coffee beans for home from them for a while and happy with my purchase. Their brunch style food is also pretty good. I regularly get theiravocado with poached eggs!

Good coffee. Ive been coming here for about a year now; their soy latte is reliably good, the wifi is great, and its not too crowded. Great place to work for an hour to get away from the office. Fun fact: this location was a Novel Cafe for a couple years, but its back to being a Groundworks now.

I literally NEVER write reviews but this groundwork is great! My wife and I got a cappuccino and an espresso milkshake. The milkshake was not good, didnt taste like ice cream or espresso but the cap was perfect. Its a cozy little place to get some work done and conversate with the local artists.

While boasting a great variety of premium options for food & drinks, Groundworks craft coffee isnt quite up to par. Most people will love Groundwork as always, but if youre a fan of pourovers or a good, clean coldbrew, Id suggest you keep walking to Blacktop Coffee around the corner.

Enjoyed their beaans bought from stores for years so I was pleasantly surprised to find a brick and mortar shop in Arts District. Lucky Jack is described as medium roast but tasted like dark roast to me. It is good nevertheless. Pastry display looks delicious. Staff is very pleasant.

Chill spot for a cold brew and a great atmosphere. The staff are nice! I came to buy some coffee beans, and they told us about a special promotion, you can get a free cold brew coffee when you buy a bag of their coffee beans. Great deal!

Honestly, I like the coffee at the other coffee places that are close by much better, however they still have great coffee and whats more important, way much nicer staff than at the other places.

This is my go-to coffee shop when Im in the Arts District. Im here every other day to grab drip coffee and a pastry, usually an almond croissant. I havent been disappointed with their coffee yet.

Drinks are good, service is almost always slow, especially when ordering food. Food is mediocre. Atmosphere at the arts district location is nice when not too crowded.
