Im absolutely spoiled when it comes to good coffee, and especially cold brews, so if you can stomach Folgers, my reviews might be a little biased for you when it comes to java. After weeks of Stumptown Coffee, Klatch Coffee, & Coffee Commissary, I was expecting quite a bit from Blue Bottle Coffee, in what once known as Handsome Coffee Roasters. After having heard raving reviews about the New Orleans cold brew, I couldnt help but come see what all the hubbub was about. And the result was...Okay. I mean, even if youre a coffee snob like me, you have to admit, its really good coffee. But lately, Ive been coming across blends from places like Stumptown & Coffee Commissary that have such a perfectly balanced flavor that brings together the nuttiness & robustness of the coffee without that bitter/ sour aftertaste prevalent in the New Orleans cold brew and many other coffees. I almost wanted to put sweetener in it just to balance it out a bit. Sacrilege, I know. The pastry case left much to be desired, and the space is nothing special, and a bit drab, to be honest, but thankfully you have Zinc Market & Cafe right across the street, so you can just buy your coffee and take it to go & enjoy a nice pastry or some great food at Zinc.

WOW! My very first step into this place already felt like a match made in heaven for me. Coffee is my drug and this place just became my favorite drug venue. Ive been virtually eyeing this place for a while now as Ive seen lovely photos off from Instagram and finally found the time to make my visit and it was delightful. I ordered their cold nitro brew coffee as well as their cold pressed juice flight and I cannot stress how wonderful both orders tasted - the coffee and juice flight! The nitro cold brew tasted smooth and had a much silkier mouth feel and it felt like drinking a beer from the tap but much cooler because its COFFEE =D The juice flights come with 10 flavors and a menu listing giving you the order sequence on how youre suppose to drink your flight. Id say, I enjoyed 8 out of the 10 flavors and Ill be glad to come back for it again. It tasted super healthy and refreshing.

I stopped by hear today and they were doing a film or photography shoot and were serving free coffee and free pastries for the inconvenience. You can hate them for not serving sugar (honestly, this is the only coffee joint Ive ever been to that you really dont need it) they treat their customers very well and the free coffee and pastries for their patrons for this temporary inconvenience while the main store is occupied is a really nice gesture instead of just closing the whole place down. Their ice coffee is awesome by the way. Its so smooth theres not a lick of overheated coffee beans or impurities whatsoever. Im sure if Jesus drank coffee hed be sipping on Handsome Coffee. This stuff is seriously made with some holy beans.

Con: Parking freaking sucks during peak hours. I usually grab coffee before work or during lunch, and I can almost NEVER find parking (*cries at the thought of not being able to get coffee*) Pro: Blue Bottle Coffee is so... REAL. I dont know how else to describe it, and I say this because... a cold brew of Blue Bottle Coffee will get me THROUGH THE ENTIRE DAY with no problem. And that takes ALOT for me. (I can drink 3 cups of keurig k-cups and still fall asleep at work) Blue Bottle Coffee is one of the only coffees that actually taste like real coffee and feels like real coffee that does its job for me.

So happy that Blue Bottle is now in DTLA! :) I love the New Orleans iced coffee!! Its my favorite drink. The coffee is cold-brewed for 12 hours with roasted chicory and sweetened with organic cane sugar and milk. Perfect on a warm, sunny day in LA! I also like their drip coffees too. Those I save for a cold, chilly day. The cafe is cute on the inside and I love the decor and a decent amount of light shines through its windows. Only downside is trying to find parking on the street. Will be back when Im in the area!

Once upon a time, this location used to be a coffee shop named "Handsome Coffee Roasters" or something like that. THAT place was terrible. When I heard the news that they were being replaced by Blue Bottle, I could not be more happy. This Blue Bottle location is exactly what youd expect from the name. The drinks are all made very well, and the beans roasted in house are amazing as well. The only caveat being that the selection of beans available is somewhat small in my opinion.

If I were you I would go past this place to the Urban Radish Just south of it on 661 Imperial Street, where the food is spectacular and the beverages hit the spot. The place doesnt have much of a selection and the service is pretty bad. After standing at the counter for a couple of minutes and having the people behind it milling about for a while, then help some one else they noticed me. By that time I had lost all interest in doing business with this establishment, and left.

Formerly Handsome Coffee Roasters, this Blue Bottle location is pretty well situated if you like that Arts District "hip even though theres kind of nothing to do" vibe. The baristas are all exceedingly friendly (despite some people thinking that third wave coffee folks are rude), and the coffee is pretty stellar. To please the coffee nerds: while I was there, one of the baristas seemed to be training another barista on dialing in pourovers. A refractometer made an appearance.

There was a lot of hype and expectation prior to visiting this coffee shop, but I have to say I was quite disappointed. Well, everyones taste buds are different, and I guess this one just wasnt my cup of tea, although I ordered a latte. The deco is quite industrial and modern, which complements the nature of the art district very well. There are very limited number seats with normal sitting height, and the bar stools are not very toddler friendly.

Goodbye Handsome Coffee Roasters and hello to Blue Bottle Coffee! This is Blue Bottle Coffees first LA location and it does not disappoint. Grabbing a cup of New Orleans iced coffee is a must whenever I go up to San Francisco and now I can get it here. The quality here is just as awesome and the vibe is the same. The pastries here are good too. I got the almond danish and it was delicious. Will be coming back here again and again.

Always a good experience at Blue Bottle Coffee! Everything from their hot chocolate to their coffees are brewed fresh and delicious. If youre not sure what to get, ask the friendly staff - theyre super helpful and knowledgeable. There isnt a ton of space inside, but its rarely full, although there are often lines out the door! Pro tip - There is no wi-fi at Blue Bottle Coffee, so just bring yourself, friends and relax!
