Probably the best in Marin. Top two or three for sure... consistent, informal atmosphere with creative menu expertly executed. The Kampachi crudo was delicious (shaved artichoke, fava beans, meyer lemon smash, ramp, crispy shallot), but the Tuna Tartare is a cannot miss (hard line caught ahi tuna tartare, asian pear, shiso, sesame, soy, fresh wasabi, and sticky rice cakes). The avocado bruschetta was also a MUST order... must....for real (avocado with manodori balsamic, sea salt, and chorizo leon "flakes"). My wife got the Wolf Ranch Quail, with bacon and chard stuffing, soft polenta, fennel sausage, sage, and maple jus. I was jealous, because it was *SO* hearty... incredible amounts of meat. It was too much for her, but I helped. =) It was a lot of meat on a plate, but it was really well plated / thought out. Probably a guys dish though. I had the gnocci with house made fennel sausage, erbette chard, and black truffle butter. It was heaven, but I was a bit full (as we ordered the whole menu, basically). Cheers to celebration. Too full for dessert, we opted for coffee instead. We enjoyed the Cristom Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley with the meal, too. The half bottles are great, and fair priced.

We had dinner at Restaurant Picco for my girlfriends birthday while in town from Texas and could not have been more impressed. The food and service were both amazing. We had the avocado bruschetta (pure, simple and delicious), the crispy ricotta stuffed squash blooms (a very tasty treat and a great twist and squash), the fresh vegetable risotto (freshly made every half hour from hand made risotto), the sauteed diver sea scallops (cooked perfectly) and the smoked ribeye (a wonderful smoky taste cooked to perfection). The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and went out of their way to ensure that we enjoyed every bite. Special thanks to the Hostess, Amanda, for helping to arrange such a wonderful evening and for the avocado bruschetta on the house.

The food is excellent at Picco, but the service is inconsistent. Sometimes it can be very good. Other times its careless. Most recently, I took my wife there for her birthday. I notified the restaurant in advance of the special occasion. When it came time for dessert there was no candle, no staff singing, "Happy Birthday." A small thing, sure, but still disappointing. I informed the hostess on the way out of the oversight. She spoke to the waitress who, it turns out, had been informed in advance that it was my wifes birthday, but she completely blew it and offered a lame apology. Lesson learned: Despite the good food there, dont expect the wait staff to be all that attentive.

Delicious! Amazing! Yummy! And awesome vibe. And did I mention the food is great? It is! Creative, fresh ingredients and excellent dishes -- make a reservation, because this place is VERY crowded, especially on weekends (the next-door casual pizza version of Picco is also VERY popular.... and has long waits -- go weekdays). Highly, highly recommended. Not sure if this is one of the best in Marin, but certainly in the Top 10.

Walked up to the bar, asked for the wine list. While waiting to put in my order a couple people leave. I go to sit down... I was promptly told that there is a wait list for the bar and could not sit there. She shooed me away without even taken my order, very rude about the whole thing. I watched another couple get up and she told them it was open seating. Horrible treatment by barstaff.

Great food, but the portions are too big. Smallest portions will give the opportunity to taste more dishes. And, why a so nice and fancy place is so noisy ? it was almost impossible to speak, and with my friend, we just wanted to leave to enjoy some peace. American people arent able to speak normally, even in a restaurant of this quality....... too bad..........

A little cramped for 6 adults in a booth for 4, even with a reservation made over a week ago, but the incredible food makes everthing else irrelevant. The avocado bruschette is a favorite, and of course the gnocchi. Its our go-to family restaurant when the kids are in town.

We had a very enjoyable 3 hr. dinner at Pico last night and it was fabulous. We obviously didnt feel rushed and the food was perfectly timed out throughout the night. The food was amazing and the wine list was even better. I will recommend this restaurant to all of my friends.

One of the few gems in Marin that feels more like an S.F. upscale place than a local joint. Top notch food, especially in the pizzeria. Gnocchi are must gets, and the son of yeti pizza was tasty too. Strauss soft-serve to finish it off is the perfect finish!

I used to eat here once a month but recent poor services made me give it a miss. The food is excellent and as long as you are happy with long waits, incompetent and disorganized service this might work for you.

Everything was delicious, but the halibut tartare and the gnocchi were next-level. I think I would actually eat the gnocchi everyday for the rest of my life, given the opportunity.

Great food, small venue, great wine, modest servings of genearally lighter, nuanced fare. Fennel gnocchi was full on flavor though! reservations recommended.

Apparently they have a new chief. I was terribly disappointed this restaurant was a favorite that is now not the case anymore. Huge let down.
