I wont deny that the food is AMAZING, but the service was not the best. The service was perfectly fine the first time I visited, however, this time, it was unacceptable. I placed a to-go order but did not receive it until about 30 minutes later. The customer who placed a to-go order right before me received his food within 5 minutes TOPS. I asked about my order three times before an employee came to ask if I was still waiting for my order. He then checked up on my order and told me I was up next. This happened two times, and my food never came out. I saw other orders that were placed well after mine roll out within minutes. It wasnt until I told the cashier that I had to go when they finally threw my food together in (literally) less than a minute.

Visiting from London, this is as far from Persian food as Persia is from California. I do pity SoCal residents. The mark of a good Persian restaurant is the quality of the meat and the meat here is atrocious (smell the meat). Hummus lacks any tahini and has been pulverised for geriatric patients. The sherazi salad for $6 is a complete rip off and does not resemble anything except an after-thought.. honestly I would avoid like the plague.. the customer service at the establishment Is mediocre.. I regret having even considered this place but at 1am, this can be chalked up as a one night stand regret...

I tried their 3 pieces chicken. Each dish does take awhile to prepare so be ready to wait 20-30 minutes before your food comes out. I really liked the naan the best. They actually use the stone over to make that naan individually. The rotisserie chicken was very tender and the meat almost fall off the bones but it was tasteless. Its a minor issue but 3 pieces just came in as one chunk.

Way overrated for Persian food. I think because its the only game in town, it gets so many good reviews. They need to step up their game. Lots of room for improvement. Food was bland and tasteless. Ive had better Persian food just about everywhere. The quality of the ingredients was noticeable. Higher quality ingredients would have made for better tasting food.

Phenomenal! Even when its busy busy they take care of you here. Just make sure to order in advance if you want tahdig. Great choices of stews in addition to meats and rice. Portions of rice are HUGE you have been advised. :) Everything I have ever ordered has been exactly what I expected and leaving me coming back for more and more.

Love the new location! Ardi and the other staff are always friendly and give a 10% discount to students. (Theyre pretty generous in general actually!) Love everything on the menu. Theyre sandwiches are killer for lunch too. And thank Christ something is open past 11 in this godforsaken place. Hen House closes at 2AM!!!!!!!!

I have been coming here for a while now and here is the bottom line: Pros: best Persian food in Irvine period, best food options including abgoosht, olovieh, sosis, and even kalle paache, and friendly service. Cons: no bathroom, a bit expensive, and a small line for food.

Very bad service. Group of 8 people we ordered food together but 2 of us didnt get their food until 45 mins later. When half of the group left, the food arrived. When we asked what they can do for us, the cashier said "it is what it is". Will not go there again.

The chicken rotisserie had good flavors but it was heavy on the salt. The free Persian tea was awesome. Charming hospitality from the owner. They are open till 2AM with plenty of parking. They are very popular with hungry UCI students at all hours of the day.

OUTSTANDING! Hen House is owned by an amazing man. Hes genuinely nice and cares for all his customers. Food is fresh and tasty. Prices are reasonable and portions are huge! Im always a returning customer and usually come here every week with coworkers.

Food is mediocre. This place seems to get a pass being the only Persian restaurant in the area. They also need to improve their veggie and vegan options. Most Persian and Arab restaurants do a good job with veggie and vegan options.

This place is one of the few places thats open late in OC. Good food with great service. Staffs are very friendly and they welcome you with hot tea, free of charge. Food portions are generous and easily can be shared.

I love the boneless chicken and chicken combo. Large portions: lots of meat, rice, comes with giant piece of naan. Its slightly pricey, but theres definitely a ton of food. Theres also student discounts :)

Decent food! Wife and I ordered the beef and chicken koobideh and half chicken. Wife loved the chicken and the koobideh was pretty tasty. Each order had plenty of rice. Will be back!

It used to offer really good food, but not anymore. I just had three different types of dishes, and they were all tasteless. I shared that with the owner, but I found him uncaring.

Friendly staff, good food. Medium size meal portions. Regular Meals come in plastic dishes which i dont like. I usually come here for kallepache and dizi. They are my favorites.

Dizi and kale-pache are great. Koobideh at times; dry. the service is great and quick. The place reminds of ghahveh khuneh and clean. The prices are reasonable.

The best Kalepaache I have ever had. They make fresh bread too which is a big plus. I had extra bread with my food but I wasnt charge for that too.

The owner is super friendly and the food was delicious! I tried #19 (Dizi) and it was very yummy, albeit heavy on the flatbread. Would recommend.
