Recently remodeled their inside dining as well as the outdoor seating. Its not a drastic change, but the newer décor helps. They could have addressed their main problem which is flow, but I believe their seatcount stays the same. As with so much of Irvine this place is a haven for surrounding business folks come to get lunch which means form 11:45-1:30 this place is pretty much off limits. Be prepared for a 10 minute wait to order and a 10 minute wait for food and the pace is not slow, there are just that many people in front and behind you. The worst part of this is that once you order, get your drink, get your salsa there is nowhere to go, just stand in the common area basically hovering over and lingering around everyone which can be uncomfortable for people other than myself. They also recently expanded their supremely popular chicken bowls menu which have beans, rice, chicken, pico, cilantro and chicken, but in a more substantial portion than most of the burritos. Its the go to for many looking for value at that price. Now they offer a much bigger variety. Its actually a pretty clean location, aside from the super grungy parking lot. In fact the entire parking lot is a trash heap of terrible parking and bad drivers, one way entrances all sharing space with McDonalds, Arbys, Chevron and other non rush business. With the upgrade they now call your name for to go orders and have a waitress bring the dine in orders to you which is great. Service used to be mediocre, but has gotten better. With chicken in the name its still their signature item, well marinated, juicy, cheap and fast, constantly on the grill. The rice is pretty light and not heavy like many Spanish styles, beans are a little bland as is their salsas, but I do like how they chop onions and cilantro for you. Its a go to place outside of the typical rush at lunch for value, but its still nothing special.

Where do I begin? This used to be a good place to go, but the owner of this franchise (Mr. Rangwala) decided to lower his standards and quality at this Duarte location. There is rude customer service, unclean restrooms & dining area. Worst of all, he puts ice cubes in the salsa to stretch it out. Yuck! They will make you wait extra long for your order while they chatter away among themselves instead of working (where is the manager?) and dont let someone they know come in and order...that order will be made before yours no matter how long you have to wait for your food. These are things we have experienced in the last 2 years. Even though we live in Duarte, we now go to Pasadena or Arcadia for our Pollo Loco fix. The worst thing is, when we have tried to contact their corporate office in Irvine by phone, letter and email they never reply. As a whole, shame on the Pollo Loco Corporation for their terrible and indifferent customer service. I guess that is another reason this Duarte El Pollo Loco doesnt feel they to be accountable. I cant feel the "Mexcellence" until there is cleanliness, courtesy & customer service! If there was a similar chicken place around, we would definitely go there and not give this discourteous company anymore of our money. This rating is for the corporate office about their awful attitude regarding customer service.

Today is now the 3rd time my order has been wrong. I go here on my lunch break and it takes 30 minutes to get back to the office to eat. I ordered an Avocado Bacon tostada salad with NO beans. I repeated NO beans 3 times & the order taker repeated it twice. Well what happens? I get to the office and it has BEANS. It ruined my whole lunch. Its not like its something that can just be picked out without noticing it was there. The bean juice ruined the rice and tostada shell so it was inedible and by then I didnt have enough time to go back. Horrible experience! !!

This El Pollo Loco Delivery was the absolute worst delivery I have ever had!!!! They were late, forgot half the order of a $200.00 order. I had to call the store 4 times and they said "oh ok, I will send the driver back out there". This was the worst experience I have ever had and I order catering weekly. I will never use this catering service with them again.

Worst service ever. It took them 20 minutes to give me my order. And even then I was so angry I gave them the receipt and left without the food while slamming the door. People that ordered after me got their food before me. I only get 30 minutes for lunch and I spent it waiting for food that never came. Thank you pollo loco

I live close to there and it is convenient to go there, but they need to hire compilation people. Just about every time I go there something about the order is wrong. Plus the mac and cheese is like soup. Would not recommend this place. Drive 3 miles away and go to a different el polo loco.

I had a bed experience with this store using the app order. It came out with cold/dry/small chicken pieces, since the package were taped, I couldnt check when i picked it up. Also they ignored my additionl instructions for requesting some salsa and plates. If Id you i will avoid this store

I read other negative reviews and they match my experience also read owners replies. I have gone here 5 times but will not go back again.The owner needs 2 go thru drive time 1 time during lunch 1 time during dinner undercover to experience what customers deal with

I made the mistake of getting a salad. It wasnt priced like a fast food salad, but that was my lasting impression. My advice: stick to the grilled chicken and bottomless horchata!!! These will never let you down.

Not the best El Pollo Loco Ive been to. Didnt ask me if I wanted salsa, didnt give me any. Didnt get the right T. And didnt get extra salad dressing like I asked for twice and was repeated back to me twice

Filthy. Employees look as if they hate working there and dont care about much. Go to the 2232 Southeast Bristol St, Newport Beach location. Much better quality chicken and CLEAN!

I go to this EPL for lunch 3-4 times a month, food is great, employees are nice, but some of the patrons that go there could at least somewhat clean up after themselves tho.
