We have eaten many times over the last several years at this location and the majority of the time, the food is really good. The last few times we have either eaten at the location or taken food to go, we have ended up with upset stomach and or diarrhea. The first few times we didnt think too much of it but it has happened more often than it should. We had food to go last night and we ordered two #21 (Super Combo Enchilada Style) Pork with red sauce, and one #21 Carne Asada with red sauce. With extra salsa, our order came to $35.00. The two pork were actually beef and the meat was very tough and try. The carne asada was very good. I could not eat half of my pork burrito because it was so dry. The other two that ate, both had extreme diarreah thru the night and still this morning. Not sure if we will continue this location. Seems kind of senseless to pay money to get sick.....

El Merendero is easily a family favorite, as it is for many others in the area. The food is great, authentic, and homemade. Lunch is always busy, both inside for sit-down service and outside for to-go orders. Fresh fruit drinks are often offered during their respective seasons. The rice and beans and enchilada are what I generally use as a guide for deciding the quality and authenticity of a Mexican restaurant, and I can say that theyre all up to par here and clearly homemade and fresh. The beans dont have a "canned" taste that some other local restaurants have, and the rice is not under- nor over-cooked. Wherever theres a craving for some simple Mexican food in a pinch (and no available grandma), this is definitely the restaurant of choice!

smell the rice before you eat it. I ate there today and I had three small bits of rice when I decided that it did not taste good. I smelt it and it smelled absolutely horrid. I was about to throw up then and there! I still taste it. I would have made a scene but my uncle is one of those people who never likes complaining. So when he left I told them how disgusted I was ans they seemed like they did not even care. I have a bad stomach ache now and it was just horrible. SMELL THE RICE BEFORE YOU EAT!

Went to pay at the window and the balance was $29.00 gave the cashier $20.00 went to reach into my pocket to get $10.00. When I gave her the $10.00 she said "you need $20.00 more!" I told the lady " I just gave you $20.00!" She denied the transaction! This place got me for $50.00 for a burrito, torta and quesadilla, the most hole in the wall place Ive ever eaten at! Beware!!! bad service bad food!!! ALL BAD!

Visit El Matador... best taquitos in town.. Are you on a tight budget.. El Matador is the best place to Go .. in Pomona CA. .. check out there torts. .. as well.. Oh yeah dont forget to check out their burrito de lengua as well Yummy... Ill stop now getting hungry just talking about their delicious food.. my stomachs is attacking me..

The food is great here. Clearly a local color restaurant since the facilities and parking are marginal, at best. Had the wet burrito and enjoyed it a lot. No bar, no alcohol that I saw, dive restaurant seating. But if you want a dive, local color restaurant that serves very good food . . . youve found it here.

I have been to Merendero twice and has had bad experience with the lady up front. She not only doesnt greet upon arriving, but is rude in taking your order. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. AND ON TOP OF THAT I DO NOT CONSIDER IT TO BE CALLED REAL MEXICO FOOD. If you are looking to eat Mexican food go elsewhere.

Ordered three items and two drinks. 20 mins later and all other customers behind us recieved food. 25 mins later I ask about my food, they didnt even start on it. I ask for a refund and they try to short me, and say they gave me drinks. If you got a whole day to waste eat here.

This place sucks. They used to have good food, years ago. It sucks that it changed. This was a place I grew up on, had always tasted the same. I try and eat there now, nothing is the same, maybe the chips. Its sad but I will never go back. Sad to see the place go bad.

The food here can be great at times. The service is a bit slow and the server always forgets about us. We are lucky to get a refill on coffee and if we need something like milk for coffee or the server forgets tortillas we need to get up and hunt down the server.

A far better than average Mexican resturant. They offer nice outdoor and indoor dining options. A great location if you are trying to fill up before or after an event at the Fairplex. My son particularly likes the ceviche tostada.

I recommend the Chicken Enchilada Plate. The sauce is super and the chicken has good flavor. The beans are quite flavorful as well. Suggestion: Call in take out orders or you might wait up to 10 minutes for your order.

The customer service is a little slow even though the place was half full. My carnitas were dry and hard. The barbacoa was good. Its better to eat outside because there is no AC on the inside.

The food here is excellent, but they need a better system of receipts. The receipt they provide dont have restaurant information. This information is needed when expencing meals with customers.

Most favorite Mexican restaurant very close to Brackett Field Airport. I go here about once or twice a week. The servings are large enough for me to take home enough for a good snack later.

I recommend the breakfast burrito with chicken and hash browns. Home made tortilla with generous pieces of roaster type chicken, cheese, egg and home made fried soft potatoes.
