Ick! I was not impressed by A&J and I dont think well come back. After seeing the high reviews for this establishment, my bf and I decided to try this place since we were in the area. The place itself reminded me of a cafeteria. Its very bland. Im not sure if they were understaffed but we had to flag down the waiter a couple of times before he could take our order. I guess we just pencil in our order on the menu and take it up to the front? Per the yelp reviews raving about the Beef Noodles and wontons, we ordered those two items and onion pancake. I got my beef noodles and was not impressed. There was no flavor and the noodles tasted bah! I only ate like half of it and left the rest. Maybe we came at the wrong time but the food wasnt as good I expected. I guess given the price, there wasnt much to complain about. The onion pancake was a big pile of dough with bits of onion. Wontons were alright but still... sigh.

Perfect for a cold day. My typical go-to noodle is ramen or pho. If there were more beef noodle soups around me, I probably would favor that more. The thing about beef noodle soup is that is more about the broth and the chunks of meat in there. I came on a work lunch one day and found that this place reminded me more of the hole-in-the-wall Asians foods you would find in LA than an elegant upscale Irvine modern Chinese fusion. Its the kind of place where if you can order in Chinese, you may just find a few more extra meats in your bowl of soup. -=-Beef noodle soup #101-=- Seriously just get this. I looked around at my coherts bowls and still found mine more appealing. This is soup, so do not expect full on beef mania, but if you cherish your Chinese subtle rock spices, a bowl of #101 may just fix your rainy day blues.

Ive eaten at this restaurant quite frequently but never had a chance to write about it. Here is this traditional Taiwanese restaurant with authentic flavors. The best thing about this restaurant is that I dont have to visit Taiwan or even drive to Rowland Heights to taste the bowl of famous spicy beef noodle soup. Its so authentic, you have to specially request for English translated menu. Here is the shot of spicy beef noodle soup. You MUST order "fat" noodle for maximum experience. I highly recommend their spicy wonton and fried dumplings.

Great casual place for a quick lunch or dinner. Service is fast; the same waitresses have probably been there for the past 10 years. Definitely recommend the scallion pancakes, any of the noodle soups and the wide noodle with sliced cucumbers, chicken strips and peanut sauce side dish. But as everyone noted, its cash only and the menus in Chinese. Saw a waitress helping two girls out today who were totally checking off the wrong things on their own.

A&Js has been my go to for Taiwanese food nearby. I recommend getting the highly popular Spicy Beef Noodle Soup (with the thick noodles) and a side of the Spicy Wontons. One recommendation would be for them to add the corresponding menu items to the list to make it easier to order food. Downsides of this location is that the parking lot gets very busy so you have to park behind the building or across the street by the Ranch market.

Pretty decent Taiwanese food. I definitely crave this place after eating weeks or months of salads and sandwiches for lunch. Decor is pretty cheap/crappy looking so it makes you want to eat faster. But at the end of the day, what matters is the food. MUST TRY DISHES: -beef noodle soup with thick noodles (theyre better) -pot stickers -1000 layer pancake GOOD, BUT IVE HAD BETTER -beef roll -spicy wontons

I love A&J. Cash only, but quality food for a good price. The ladies talking to me are always very friendly. Ive ordered to-go from this place more times than I can count, and have eaten in with small and large groups. Never been disappointed. Fantastic, quality place that I highly recommend to anyone who likes Taiwanese food and enjoys a laid back, casual atmosphere.

Cash only but AMAZING. Their beef noodle soup is to die for. Their fried chicken and pork cutlets over rice are bomb. Their dumpling and pot stickers are killer. Beef rolls are great, scallion pancakes, etc. Dont sleep on pickled mustard greens and the spicy pickled cucumbers. If you want Taiwanese style Chinese fare, this is a must visit.

One of my most visited place in Irvine. The food is great, especially the pork chop. Though this is coming from a Taiwanese, I am not sure how others would view this place. I noticed a lot of restaurants close to it has closed and new ones have opened, but this place is still around. Keep in mind it is cash only.

Pretty authentic Taiwanese Cuisine. Many of the staff speak Taiwanese. The beef broth is so complex and unique. Have not found any place that has a better flavor. I like the cold items as well like the picled cucumbers, pig ears, and the Chinese Doughnuts. Cash only and very inexpensive in my opinion

Beef noodle soups, spicy wonton, beef rolls, spicy cucumbers, & dumplings. Just some of my favorite taiwanese food!! Be sure to get the hand torn noodles (the fatter noodles). You wont regret it! They recently renovated and got some new tables and redid the counter. Looks much nicer!

Im a huge A&J fan. Some of my favorite go-tos: spicy beef (thick) noodle, pan fried dumplings, seaweed, dandan noodles, pork chop rice, spicy wontons, scallion pancakes, ground pork noodles, cold noodles. There can be a wait at times but its not long!

My favorite thing there is the porridge and hand grab bread. They are a Taiwanese styled northern noodle place. So its not the most authentic if youre from mainland China, however, that doesnt mean its not good soup, good noodles, and good dishes

Considering that Irvine has very few authentic Taiwanese restaurants, A&J is decent in quality and flavour. Food is pretty bland and generic, yet much higher priced than restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley...easily $2 - $4 more per item!

Ordered a ton of food. Scallion pancake, beef noodle soup, fried chicken over rice, fried pork chop over rice, 2 different veggie plates not on the menu, pickled cucumbers with garlic. The worker was friendly in our large takeout order.

No authentic Chinese restaurant has great service. They have amazing food and thats why you go. Plus they get you in and out quickly. Spicy red wontons are a must have here. The beef noodle soup with thick noodles are also a go to for me.

We had dinner last week at the Ruths Chris steak house in Irvine. We were well taken care of by Carter and Tom. Our food was delicious, cooked as we had asked. Like most steak houses it was a little loud but otherwise very comfortable.

Looking for a quick fix of Taiwanese food? Look no further because you can get beef noodles soup, fried pork chop with rice, spicy wontons, and small dishes to share. Price is decent and the staff here are super nice!
