Their recent remodel modernized the atmosphere, but I must say that I and my family enjoyed the old motif of classic movie B&W photos. The food, however, is wonderful, large portions, and not neuvo. The dining wear has changed, but the food remains the same, and that is a good thing! The booths are comfortable, but not spacious for parties of 4. They have a room in the back for larger parties, and parties in general. There is also seating in the bar area that is adjustable for larger parties too, but its a more active area and has a big screen TV. All in all, its very good, and they do aim to please.

This place is horrible, sorry... juat telling the truth... ordered a carnita taco salad and it was full of just fat it was disgusting! And their beans r very salty.. only reason I went here is bec I go to the dan joses in tustin, come to find out not the same thing... same name but has no relation to the small chain of don jose mexican cafe.. also my girl got a chicken burrito, chicken dry as can be.. over all not worth the time and money!!! Very disappointing!!

Overpriced, greasy Mexican food. The Carnitas burrito was nothing but boiled, flavorless pork smothered in a distractingly bland red sauce. My wife had the fajitas and the meat was tough and the onions and pepper were overcooked and limp. You would think that a resturaunt that has been around for so long would know how to cook vegetables. There are many Mexican restauranst in the area, don’t waste your time here.

Worst experience at dinning we have ever had. The food is not handmade or from an old recipe. The soup was canned, tbe chicken was old and from a can, the guacamole was from Albertsons and there wasnt anything original or authentic anout this place. The best we can hope is that the nasty old tasting grocery bought food will pass quickly. STAY AWAY!

Had the fajita the meat was okay but after being served never saw waitress again I had to get up and go pay for it at the front and had a $10 coupon and apparently theres another Don Joses but lets just give him $5 for waiting 30 minutes to get your bill nobody ever asked us if we needed refills or anything dont think Ill be back

I love their food but lately their service has been bad. I went there for brunch and had 3 glasses of champagne and asked for another the one and the waitress says there is a limit of 3 or 4 & it doesnt say that on the menu. There is only 1 good waiter there and the rest are rude but I still come back. I dont know why thou

Sunday night dinner not too busy and we got our food quickly. The food was pretty good. The telling sign of a good Mexican restaurant is the chips and salsa. They were average so you can guess what I mean by pretty good. Prices were fair for large quantities of food. If we are in the area we would come again.

Good Mexican food. Chips were fresh & warm. Beef tacos were deep fried...no pre-made fake shells here. Brewed ice tea was delicious. Had karaoke next door in their bar that we could hear which made for a lively environment but it wasnt too loud. Server was friendly and professional. I would go back.

Been coming to Don Joses for over 10 years with my family. Its an every Tuesday ritual, Affordable and delicious with the best huge tasty tacos Ive ever had. and I love the chips& salsa self serve station. Roque is the greatest server too, we see him because he is an amazing caring person.

We tried this food a year ago when we first moved to there and we were very disapointed, paid and walked out leaving plates full of food, that was not good. The service was ok, the food was not. I wouldnt waste my time or money going here.

my and my husband went there on friday and got awful service, and never were offered refills, and we were forgotten, also our dinner was served 5-8min apart. and when we said something we were never offered a discount ........WONT BE BACK

Food is outstanding, drinks are so good. The customer service is real customer service its a real family atmosphere, the bartender is on his game. My family has been coming to Don Jose for many years. Always a comfortable place to visit.

I like coming here for dinner. They have a lot going on with specials in the bar and the restaurant. Nice atmosphere and Diane is the greatest person that works here. She is so friendly and always in such a great mood.

The place is awesome.. a nice, chill vibe across the street from the beach. It looks "tough" and kills you with kindness. The staff were friendly and the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD!! The pork tacos were my favorite.
