This evening we ate at The Olde Ship. Lemme start by saying Service was non-existent. Our waitress Chandra was the absolute worst server I have experienced in a very long time. If I were rating the service she would get a 1 since there is no way to mark a 0. Although I usually weigh the service in the review, the restaurant earned a full 4 stars regardless of Chandra. We saw other waitresses and they all seemed excellent, it was just that we had the misfortune of sitting in Chandras section. The food was different story... The Yorkshire pudding, was not what we expected. Of course we were not expecting Puddin. It tasted eggy and was quite small. We were expecting more for the price. Also, traditionally it is served with gravy not au jus. We ordered the Beef Wellington, which was large enough to share, and our atrocious server seemed quite anxious to split the order for us. I looked through the menu and could not fine a split plate fee, but someone on Yelp said they charge $3 to split. We did not have her split the orders. I really enjoyed the Wellington, it resembled pot roast inside a pastry, then smothered in gravy. Served with mashed potatoes and smothered in gravy, then peas and carrots. (makes me think of Forrest Gump) I tried some kidney pie and it was really good, the kidney was surprisingly delicious. I am not usually a big fan of organs. My gf had Fish & Chips, the cod was overcooked, soggy on the bottom and the breading was too thin. For dessert, we followed the advise on Yelp and ordered the Sticky Toffee Pudding. It was pretty fabulous. She would go back just for that. I forget, did I mention how bad Chandra was... Oh yeah, I did mention that. It was the tip that I forgot.

Ive been dying to go here based on British friends recommendations, and finally went recently. I had the cornish pasty and if youve ever had the real thing, its essentially a handheld meat pie-pastry filled with meat, potatoes and other veggies. Theres a bit of a sauce inside too usually. I dont know if the waitress brought me the right dish though because my dish did not have much of a pastry or flaky crust, in fact it was quite thin and mushy, although that could be due to the overwhelming amount of gravy that was on top of it and over the mashed potatoes. Despite not being what I expected, it was pretty good and the portions are huge (enough for another meal to take home). I tried my friends roast beef and Yorkshire pudding (which is actually a sort of moist dinner roll in the shape of a muffin) and that was really good, though he also complained about too much gravy. That being said, the dessert we ordered, the sticky toffee pudding was sublime. Its not too sweet and comes served in warm cream. However, it tasted a bit like cream of wheat, with a thicker texture (traditional English pudding), so if you dont like that flavor, you might not like it. I definitely want to go back and try the fish and chips, and if i order any dish with gravy, Id recommend getting it on the side since it seems to be loaded with sodium (I had a bit of water retention the next day).

We went to the Olde Ship in Fullerton to celebrate my husbands birthday. The decor of the pub was nice and it seemed like a place that had a lot of locals. However, the service for us was terrible. Presumably because we were newcomers, Im not sure?? We waited over 45 minutes to get a drink after ordering. There was a waitress (probably off duty) chatting to the bar manager/owner who was on his computer at the bar (right next to us). The bar tender was also busy chatting away to his boss and waitress and then some customers. The place wasnt busy and we were trying to get someones attention to say we needed to be served but were ignored. Anyways, I finally convinced my husband we should leave after he saw people who were in after us not only being served their drinks but also their food. When we got up to go... the waitress came over. We were served the food promptly but when the drinks were going empty again, no one came over. Service was extremely inattentive and considering you had a manager there, you think he would want to motivate his staff to actually serve people. Anyways, worst customer experience we have ever had in a restaurant - ever. It was maybe a one off but considering it was a Thursday night and the place was generally quite quiet I dont feel there was an excuse. The food was ok.

So I stumbled upon this place when browsing the internet...and boy am I happy I found it. The service at The Olde Ship is very friendly. They seem to strive to make their customers happy. When we arrived, it was full and there was one table left. The gentleman who greeted was kind enough not to try to stick us in the cramped corner table because he knew it wouldnt be a pleasant place to sit...so we waited about 5 minutes and was seated at a nice roomy table. My hubby had the Beef Wellington and he LOVED it. The nice thing about that meal is that it comes with mashed potatoes served with a nice gravy and some yummy roasted potatoes. I had the salmon with crab sauce. Very light and deeeelicious! Would I return? Heck ya! And Rebecca is a sweet heart of a waitress. Next time Ill try the fish and chips for sure!

Went here for lunch, lovely comfortable bar with great relaxing atmosphere. Realised the bar man, Danny, was a fellow Irishman. I asked him as an Irishman what hed recommend to eat, and he recommended the fried breakfast. It was as good as Ive had in Ireland and better than what Ive had in the UK. Great bacon, and he even offered black pudding. He also said the Guinness was good, I tried it and again he wasnt wrong. Best pint Ive had outside Ireland. Fish and chips looked fantastic too. Danny was very friendly and attentive and brings something American bar tenders just dont have. Its one of a few bars Ive been in that has a local feel, he makes the atmosphere and he is why I will be going back. In fact Im going back for dinner. Give the man a raise. Cheers Danny

Love the atmosphere! From the dark mood lighting to the English waitresses to the art on the walls, the setting is reason enough to visit! I went on a Tuesday and chose to take advantage of their fish and chips deal. You get 1 piece of cod and chips for $9.75, 2 pieces of cod and chips for $12.75, or 1 piece of haddock and chips for $13.50. This offer is valid only on Tuesdays from 4pm-close. I got the one piece offer. It was good, but not amazing. The tartar sauce made up for the blander taste of the fish. The chips were delicious and very thick cut. They also have a deal for their meat pies and desserts pies on Monday. All day they are 25% off. I will definitely be coming back to try their pies! Dont forget to try their Wells Banana Bread Beer! SO YUMMY!

Id work there from 1992 to 1994,very classic Inglish pub no t.v. at that time Brittish cooks and waiters.,Steven Spilberg was there one time with his friends and coworkers and no one of the waiters, the bartender or the owner, knew him,so they didnt know what happen there and I never toll them.closed at sundays like brittish pubs must to be.Very good hamburguers best fish & ships and traditional english food and they import brittish groceries too. Every thin you see at the walls or in display are for sale and check up restroom with old years newspapers reproductions for drunk customers can write jockes on them. Nice time for a family or soccer lovers.
