SAD TO SAY, BUT I am really DISAPPOINTED WITH HOMETOWN BUFFET NOW. Use to be a place one could go and have a pretty decent meal of Quality and menu selection.. THE NEW MENU (as we see it) provides less VARIETY and QUALITY, and IS NOT TO OUR LIKING..........The new CEO has made changes, yes, but NOT FOR THE BETTER................to the point we WILL NO LONGER BE EATING THERE. Went in for dinner Nov 29, 2014 and paid for two. The first thing I preceded to do was to get some STEAK, WHAT? - NO STEAK!, YEP, NO STEAK and also tried TO GET A BAKED POTATO..........WELL GUESS WHAT....NO BAKED POTATO FOR DINNER, but was TOLD IT IS JUST SERVED ON THE LUNCH MENU. ........ THE BUFFET NO LONGER SERVES STEAK along with its ham and roast beef, etc.. WOULD YOU BELIEVE THAT IN PLACE OF STEAK, they NOW SERVE A PATHETIC TASTELESS HAMBURGER PATTY , yes I said HAMBURGER PATTY which NOW REPLACES STEAK ON THEIR DINNER MENU. Thought they were finally getting their act together when they got rid of THEIR CHEAP LOW QUALITY GRISTLE STEAK and replaced it with a higher quality steak without the gristle. Heck, IF I WANT A HAMBURGER PATTY, I CAN GO TO MCDONALDS or IN AND OUT (just any drive in burger joint). All the many little servings thingies they have in the little "skillet" type of containers, are non-edible...need to be done away with. We had thought bout going to SIZZLERS , NOW I BELIEVE THAT IS DEFINITELY THE CHOICE FOR DINNER FROM NOW ON. GREATLY DISAPPOINTED WITH HOMETOWN BUFFET..........their new MENU needs to take a DUMP. Come to think of it, it already has taken a DUMP. In short, STAY AWAY. AS FOR WE, THE PRICE GOES UP AND THE QUALITY OF THE NEW MENU SELECTION HAS DIMINISHED GREATLY DOWNWARD. AGAIN STAY AWAY. ........the new CEO HAS POISONED THE WELL.......... Think I will have to send an email to CEO or may just send him a snail mail of the above review.

There has been a big decline in the appeal for going to HomeTown Buffet since all the TV commercials claiming how great the place is began airing. The greatly reduced menu options are a turn-off. The choices now seem to be very limited. For us, the very best single menu item, the Orange Sorbet, is no longer available. It was a major factor for us to pick HomeTown Buffet on any given night. Fried fish, which my wife always selected, is no longer regularly available. The last 4 of the last 5 times we came, on various nights, no fried fish. The "fresh" tortillas are almost always hard as a rock, that is, they are inedible. Now there are a variety of unappealing little pots that pretty much all look the same (mystery meat dishes?). Chicken pot pies are a nice addition, if you also get a piece to chicken to cut up and add as a supplement to the mostly gravy under the pie crust. The prices are up and the quality is down. Not the best way to attract and keep customers.

The service was horrible the server never came to your table they never came and got your plates and the fish looked yellow and the cookies were burnt the bathroom were dirty and it had to take a manager to come pick up your plates.and I would never eat there again.they told me they would make it right and I paid for 3 meals and they said well only give you one meal if you ask me how is that makeing it right when the other two people came with me to shouldnt they get it right also and all I wanted was my money back they they told me they cant do that.i would never eat there again and I wouldnt recommend it to anyone.

One star only because there were no 0 stars....first of all for the $109 I payed at least the food couldve been cooked properly...the meatloaf was under cooked pink in the middle the prime cut roast was served cold the fried chicken was burnt on the outside and pink and runny on the inside and to top it off it was FREEZING in there I honestly dont think Ill be coming back to this location totally not worth what they charged us

The family got together last night, we went to Home Town Buffet, When I walk in it was clean, set up was great, the people in there was very nice. The staff was there to meet you, show you to your table, they were very friendly. I think the main reason We went there was the food, and too me it was very good. I have not been to the one on shaw, but I will come back with more of my friends. Try it you will not be sorry.

Food is awful and old. Dried out cornbread, old mac and cheese, meat was barely warm, silverware is dirty most of the time, everything is sticky, lots of empty trays. The only reason Im giving 2stars is because the employee working our section was very good and on top of things, the young lady working as a cashier in the front was rude though. Waste of money if you ask me absolutely gross and over priced.

There was very little to no food laid out to get. The place itself was messy and dirty. The trays in which the food was held in were dirty as well, concerning the food in those trays: it looked as if that food had been there for days. I am only giving it one star due to the fact I cannot give it zero, and my sorrow goes out to the only one waitress serving everyone today.

I imagine it is their attempt to save money, but instead they will lose customers like our family. They have eliminated all of our favorite foods: steak, broiled fish, cantaloupe and other healthy food choices. Their foods are way too salty, and almost everything now is breaded and fried. I am very disappointed in the changes they have made!

The food getting nasty. The have hamburger patties what they call chopped steak they used to have steak. Then it was good.what they now just plain meat patties. I can go to sizzler get real steak.they need to out of business all of them. If they cant get their things better than this. No.wouldnt remanded this place to anyone

This store is very clean, with friendly and efficient staff. The Manger was constantly circulating to make sure the dining experience is top. The food was fresh and when something was running low it was quickly replenished. No real criticism to speak of. Great comfort food, great restaurant.

Theres only 2 Hometown buffets in the Notown. The one on peach and shaw has closed down. Excellent service, great place to bring all your family. Varieties of food at lunch and dinner. The desserts are so good you might literally inhale them, but dont take my word. Taste it for yourself.

The food was great, and it taste good. There were variety of foods to choose from. Salad bar, Italian section, and all other food sections were great. The food was so good I had to wait in line for the server to replace the empty trays during early evening dinner!

Decline in food quality and variety over the past two years, along with an increase in prices. I discovered online that the CEO of the restaurant chain changed about three years ago. It was a better place to eat before the change.
