I really good restaurant with great location in downtown Encinitas. The house salad with chicken is fantastic and has become my go-to menu item. Service can sometimes be a bit of an issue, however. On one occasion my food was served to me by an employee that had just cut his hand. While these types of things do happen in restaurants, the blood from his hand was all over the bag he handed me with my to-go order. On another occasion my order was somehow misplaced. After waiting for over 30 minutes I went to inquire. Instead of owning their mistake and making it right, they tried to hide the oversight and scrambled to make it as quickly as possible saying that they were just busy and my order was next. Since I had only ordered a salad and watched as many other people who ordered after me received their cooked and prepared food before my salad, I knew they were trying to cover their mistake.

Great cafe with plenty of options. Giant pastries line the display case at only $2-3. The menu has a span of delicious brunch options - good luck choosing one! Plenty of seating inside and out and friendly staff to boot. Ordered: California Benedict - Ingredients were fresh and cooked well, with the exception of the flatbread underneath. It was overly toasted and became hard to cut, let alone bite into. My husband just ended up eating everything on top of it, but was delicious nonetheless. Veggie omelette- Hit the spot. Fresh ingredients and the omelette was moist and flavorful. Wed definitely come back.

Nice environment. Great menu. Food was really good. Good service. I felt the staff went out if their way to make sure you were well taken care of and happy with what you got. Pastry selection looks to die for. However, looks did not equate to taste. The bread-based pastries (croissants, tarts, etc.) were really good. However, the "fancy- looking" pastries (cakey and creamy types, like including mousse cakes, tiramissou, etc. ) were actually pretty dry. :( Would love to go there for breakfast or lunch again, as their menu and food is good, but Ill definitely avoid their pastries!

I discovered the St. Tropez Bistro over 10 years ago, on my first visit to Encinitas. I went there for the beautiful, delicious French pastries and have had nearly everything on the menu. Everything has always been fresh, well prepared and beautifully presented. I love their breakfasts the most, and I always have a pastry and buy a few to enjoy for later. I love this place and always eat at least one meal there when I am in the area.

The place has very delicious food. Good to enjoy on a lazy weekend afternoon with family or a quick bite before running errands. They have a delicious tuna melt! Nice selection of pastries, although Im very picky with them, so I wouldnt say St. Tropez has amazing ones. Their pastries are just ok, lackluster and not always flaky or crispy. I usually go here for the food, which never disappoints.

Decent little bakery. I like their baked goods best. Ive had mixed experiences with their sandwiches/salads/breakfasts, sometimes theyre awesome and sometimes its a bit meh. But if youre going for a tart or croissant youre in luck. Basically their baking skills surpass their cooking skills. Go for a pastry and coffee, not for a meal.

Ordered a hot chai latte, worst Ive ever had! Barely warm, very sweet, instant mix. Not real chai at all. I overheard an employee tell another employee "People THINK its tea but its not." Fruit I had with my meal tasted like mold. Dont know how they stay in business.

If youre looking for some french onion soup, or pastries, I would definitely recommend this place to you. This cafe has mostly outdoor seats, and a cool breeze rolls in from the ocean

When I am visiting from NM, I always end up having a coffee and one of their delicious breakfasts or pastries. Sitting on the patio with ocean nearby having some grub is awesome !

The food is great, however, the wait for food is very long. The place was not packed, but the salad I ordered took 30 minutes.
