It is very sad for me to report that my first time eating at the beloved & newly remodeled and newly owned Westlake Joes, Will probably be my last. I recently ate at the Marin Joes where the previous owners of this restaurant still reside for my 37th birthday last November, it was fabulous and exactly how I can always remember it since Ive been eating it from the womb. Tonights meal at Westlake Joes in Daly city was quite a different experience. Although my medium rare New York Peppercorn steak was grilled perfectly, everything else was basically a disaster. My wife had the chicken piccata, which was overly salty and had too much lemon. The minestrone soup almost tasted like it came out of a can, The calamari appetizer tasted like something you would get at a county fair (not in a good way), and the raviolis were definitely not made in house anymore. It hurts me to report this, but the new owners of Westlake Joes have failed all of us. I will only be spending my money at Marin Joes. This what happens when greed surpasses quality control and integrity.

This is one sorry excuse for a restaurant. On June 13th we went for a late lunch. Had to ask for bread. Were told the had to heat it up. Waitress came back with bread and "butter". The bread was so hard you could hammer a nail with it. The "butter" was not at all. When questioned the waitress said "oh no not butter margarine. Its better for you". What? What? Had a shrimp sandwich. More bread than filling. It came with coleslaw. This was so dry. It had no dressing at all. The woman across from us called the waitress over and told her it was not fit to eat! Boy was she right! My advice, dont bother to go there. The new management is delivering poor quality food and charging the public higher pricing to put more money in her pocket. Shame on you calling this Joes!

It was an important day, a celebration, I called in advance for a reservation, informed the staff of the occasaion. We arrived early, but werent seated until 30minutes after our reservation and 45 minutes after we arrived. They didnt even reserve a table for us, much less have it ready. The staff was unapologetic. They made it seem like it was my fault. Service was poor from the waiters. The bus boys did better in being responsive than anyone else. Food was plentiful, but of low quality and tasted like it was from the 50s. I guess I should have expected that from a place where the carpets hadnt been cleaned since the place was built. My guess is that the other reviews are a sham and that this wont be posted, but well see.

Havent even got our food yet and Im not impressed. Im becoming increasingly annoyed with restaurants with servers that dont know how to...serve. And if Im paying $30+ for a steak, i expect the restaurant to be on par with its prices. If i wanted to wait forever for such poor service, Id go to DMV. Well see if the food can win them a few more stars. Host/hostess was on point and very polite. Decor is retro and very attractive. Everything seems very clean except for some greasy fingerprints on the blades of the knives. I would prefer fingerprints on the windows rather than my utensils. Mothers day fail. Update, once we (or they) figured out who our servers was, he was very polite, accommodating, and helpful.

Had to give a star for our accomidating server. The food was so disappointing. I grew up near Westlake and loved Westlake Joes prior to their reopening. My favorite was the french dip. Used to be awesome, now they have a prime rib french dip, with meat that is well done to the point of dry and leathery. I asked for medium rare, was told they only make medium, came dry as a bone and lifeless. Sent it bach, my guy had the cheeseburger, ordered with jack cheese, came with american cheese. They took it back to "fix" it, only pulled off some of the american cheese and remelted Jack over it. Thats crazy, oh did i say the dip was $18.95 and the burger $16.95!!! Dennys wouldve been better. Lost a long going patron.

Had an amazing time celebrating my 75th birthday at Original Joe’s Westlake in Daly City. It was so worth the trip. The hostess, Sara, was very efficient and welcoming, and Golf, our server, was so much fun. We sat in a brightly lit room surrounded by windows. We experienced an outstanding meal starting with warm sour dough bread and a great calamari appetizer. We each ordered a different delicious entrée which we shared with one another. The frosting on the cake (pardon the pun) were three amazing desserts which we shared – butter cake, ice cream sundae and I think it was bambolini (an Italian donut) served with chocolate syrup and a berry sauce – Yum, yum, yum!!!. Can’t wait to go back again.

Not happy with the new Original Joes Westlake first off the bread was stale thats not a good sign.... They didnt have my favorite broiled halibut the menu is minuscule compared to the "Real Original Joes of Westlake". I ordered the pot roast with ravioli. I had to test the sauce. Im very disappointed the sauce lacked seasoning the portions way small. That was fine since I didnt like the sauce but thats not a good sign your marinara was awful. The presentation of the pot roast was atrocious they gave you slabs of meat when have I ever heard of that pot roast is pieces of beef and I shouldnt of had to use a knife use to be like butter broke off with the fork or spoon whatever you had not happy.

food was real good, had a steak that was cooked just right, the garlic bread was to die for, tons and tons of garlic on warm sourdough (like old Totos Restaruant that use to be on Junipero Serra in DC). had a jazz quartet in the bar playing while you wait for a table, whole family loved it. its true that the service may have been a little slow, but that was okay considering how busy the place was. what was real nice was i got to spend real good quality time with my wife and daughter, got to talk and catch up on things that I sometimes find hard to do at home. wish i went there sooner after 30 yrs in DC.

No recognition for loyalty... My first time at joes was when I was carried in a bassinet... i have been going ever since... I moved to Los Angeles ... and when I cam home... I only ate a joes... since these people have taken over.. I have been up here 3 times... I drove to joes all three times from San bruno... with my parents who are in their 80s.... each time I was turned away because of the wait... each over 2 and 1/2 hours... even after explaining. .. Joes employees rudely discounted years of loyalty... that is shameful for those Duggans.. SHAMEFUL!

Well I am going on what I have been told by others. Many others, the price has gone up as to be expected. The portions are 1/3 smaller. This is A fact that they are not taking reservations, and still do not have to go orders. Maybe the Dugan family should stay with what they know, burying people and taking victimless peoples money heartlessly for those who pass away. I have first hand knowledge about this. "Dont you think your loved one needs a rose wood coffin" always trying to push the bigger sale praying on peoples emotions.
