I’ve heard so many great things about the food at El Zarape’s that I finally decided to check it out. Unfortunately, my experience at the restaurant was disappointing. If you are concerned with cleanliness and good service, this is NOT the place for you. The table that we were seated at had an overhanging plastic plant that was loaded with spider webs; it looked like one of the chandeliers in the haunted mansion at Disneyland. It’s definitely not something you want to see hanging over your food. And the drink glasses that we were given were dirty, they had dried pieces of food stuck to them (looked like old cheese). In addition to the lack of cleanliness, the older owner was our waiter and he seemed to be having a bad day, he was not polite and should probably leave the customer service aspects of the business to someone else in the family. I recommend the younger waiter; he does a good job and seems genuinely nice. I hope other people who decide to try El Zarape’s have a better experience than I did. Overall, I thought the food was mediocre, overpriced and the service was terrible. The place could also use a good cleaning.

Came across this place by accident. I live in Signal Hill. I was at a doctors appointment and heard of this place. Let me say I LOVE Mexican food with a passion and I am fussy About it. First impression was, very cute and kinda small. Were given the salsa and chips and that did it. Best salsa Ive had at a restaurant in a long time. Each time we eat there, it is always good. Everything on the menu is delicious. Its family owned and the service is very good. And one last thing, the margaritas are excellent. Several choices are available. This is a hidden jewel.

I walked in and was given eye contact by two waiters. They both ignored me. I was holding my one-year-old daughter so I just seated myself since I was ignored. The manager came over to apologize because the waiter knew I wasnt happy with the situation. I told him what really bothered me is that the two couples that came in in back of me spoke Spanish to them and they seated them immediately. Oh well...

Small hole in a wall restaurant, there could be a wait times depending what time you come in. My friend wanted to get a torta so we assumed that theres going to be a torta at this restaurant. We were wrong. However, we decided to get something else and we were surprised how great the food tasted. We had a great service, great food too. I recommend this place.

Best Mexican restaurant around!!! A Family ran restaurant, everyone there is very friendly and really puts a lot into the experience. Of course like any great eatery, there is often a wait, but it is worth it. Food is fantastic, from Sals Burrito (popular favorite) to the arroz con pollo (my favorite). Also really good salsa....

My wife and I come here often. Its super close to our home and the food is pretty good. I really enjoy the fajitas and burritos. The table salsa is really good and when you get the fresh warm tortilla chips... its amazing! The family that runs this is super friendly and always welcoming!

Ive been to El Zarape in Cypress twice now and this is definitely one my favorite places for the food and the service. Nothing but good things to say. Love the family service feel and the quality of the food. Cadillac margaritas are always a good mix of alcohol and flavor.

When you get a taco, it has approximately one teaspoon of meat in it. Sent it back. Came out the same way. Sent that one back they finally got it right and accommodated my request. Food is pretty ok for the most part. You have to ask for hot salsa if you want it hot.

Very nice staff! Unfortunately I wasnt impressed with the food. I know they have a lot of repeat customers that love it. I just really didnt. I was even told about this place by 2 different people. Just wasnt for me and Mexican food is my favorite.

We love this little family place. Its so cute and eclectic. Even thigh its small, it has a great feel to it. The food is delicious and the staff is very attentive. Its been here forever. A great little must go to place in cypress!

Its really pretty great, I love the food, reminds me a bit of some of the Tex Mex Im missing, but the only complaint Ill have with the place is its cramped and loud. Service is good. Foods great. Just too small and too loud generally.

I was looking forward to trying the lobster taco, but they didnt have it! So I settled for a scallop taco, it was okay. 3.50 for a taco, a little too much! The place is good and the tortilla is good but a little too overpriced!

Best dining experience in a long time. Food is super good and the staff friendly and attentive. Another customer over heard my husband and I say it was our first time here and she bought our dinner. WOW!!! Our new favorite place.

Great restaurant, friendly staff. Such a busy place, but everyone there seems to enjoy the time & awesome meals. Im waiting for special ordered Tamales - but wishing for a Sals Burrito (theres one at most tables)...

I love this place. Is just an all-around great place. I always get the L-15 off the lunch menu. Is a grilled chicken breast with a salad and rice... Sooo good!! Excellent place and anyone who doesnt like it is crazy.

Excellent classic mexican. Great margaritas that make it hard to have just one. Its usually very packed and we wait 30 to 40 minutes on average which is why I rated it 4 and not 5.

Pretty good Mexican food. Its a little on the expensive side here but everything was pretty good. SUUUUPER long wait when we went- Friday at dinner time which is to be expected.
