Ordered a simple 2 egg breakfast for pick up and they managed to give me the wrong order with no receipt, I called asking if I could just return the food, as it was for my friend since we were in a rush to leave the hotel. At this point after driving 20 minutes theres no use to try and go back at the time, so we call. This is where it gets absolutely obnoxious, The manager argues with me on the phone about how I cannot return the food that was NOT TOUCHED and tried to console me with 3 different stories about what happened, that didnt. "You grabbed the wrong bag" there was only ONE bag that was HANDED to me. "The cashier noticed as soon as you grabbed the bag and tried to get you" I parked in front of the restaurant for about 4 minutes trying to figure out to get home, I was facing the front door, no one was there. "There were two orders and got mixed up" There was only one on the counter She then continued to refuse a refund though we didnt touch "allisons" order, and argue with more bs lies to get out of taking responsibility for a mistake, completely outrageous and unprofessional. You wanna argue with a customer over $9? Maybe you need it more than I do. Ive been here before, make sure you get a receipt (didnt get one past 3 times) probably cant afford the paper. Make sure you know whats going on, though theyll probably lie to your face too to save a measly $9 and lose a returning client.

I had such a great experience with Jerad on my first visit that I dined here 3 days in a row while on my business trip. Jerad is keenly observant to his guests needs and wants and genuinely cares about their dining experience. He remembered my order preferences *on my second visit* and surprised me by making my coffee without having to ask me what I preferred! Myra and Jerad are excellent mangers and their team members are just as awesome, thoughtful, knowledgeable, helpful and genuinely hospitable. Fair prices for the quality too! If I lived in California, Id be coming here every week! Thank you!

The food was quite good. I had "Texas" (french) toast. The staff was obviously well-meaning. But, the experience was just plain annoying. First, as everyone has noted: parking is scarce. Second, its a good place for reading your cellphone (in the company of your friends). Amazingly loud even without much conversation and soft, quiet music. Third, if youre a yuppie, but dont think youre one, then this place has the perfect atmosphere for you. Everything seems so overlaid with the kind of cool you can get from a box delivered by a marketing company. Id order take-out.

this is place rocks! I had them make me a custom "early riser" sandwich that apparently combined two different combos on the menu, and I was full for the rest of the day. lets just put it that way, hah! asides from fantastic food, the location is really unique and hidden from most traffic. Eating on the front patio can definitely be a pleasure. my only complaint is that I feel the prices are a bit steep to a degree... you can tell by the not-so-updated Google maps pictures^ that the prices were once much lower than they are now.

Great place for breakfast! Their breakfast is so good, I love coming here for the breakfast tacos and potatoes, thats my favorite thing to order. I know sometimes you think tacos... Small, but their tacos are pretty loaded with eggs and bacon and are filling. They have inside seating and if you prefer outside they have that as well. When I came here Korah was working and suggested some of her favorite options to my friend and I she was really friendly and spot on for the suggestions.

The food is good, but if you call for take out they will ask you to hold, put the phone down and take 6 or 7 orders while you sit there listening, and maybe forget you all together. This has happened to me several times. They either need more staff, add a web portal for take out, or stop doing take out. I am ten minutes "on hold" now, except Im not actually on hold. Edit: Thanks for taking the time to respond. That is very helpful.

Decided to have brunch here. This place does get pretty busy on a Sat afternoon. But there are places to sit outside as well. You order first, then pick a seat. Got the breakfast tacos. They were as good as it looks in the pictures. I live how they have the avocado on top. You cant really eat it like a normal taco since theres so much stuff in it. Dont let the size fool you. You will definitely get full off of it.

Their food is great! Ive been here a couple of times and always love the food. Its a small little hole-in-the-wall place but those usually have the best food around! They get crowded on weekends for breakfast, so get there early or expect a bit of a line. You order at the counter and take a number to your table where they bring your food. They also have a coffee bar with pretty decent lattes, cappuccinos, etc.

Good service. Good coffee. The food is just OK. There are many area Taquerias that makes awesome breakfast burittos and fistful of delicatessens that have amazing pastrami sandwiches. Unfortunately, Rooster Cafe doesnt come close. The pastrami was dry, bland, and the pickles were soggy and dull. The burrito was overloaded with potato hash and the bacon was unevenly distributed. Parking is very limited.

The best breakfast burrito around. Im sure surfers wished it was closer to the beach. I discovered it because my wife was getting her hair done next door at Blanc Noir and brought one home. It was love at first bite. They manage to make them huge and tasty without feeling super fatty or greasy. The homemade salsa has an amazing amount of flavor and freshness.

They have a small menu consisting of dishes like eggs, burritos, sandwiches and pancakes. I always get the Early Riser sandwich with avocado and Portuguese sausages. Its a fast casaul restaurant, so you order your food at the counter, grab a number, and wait for your food. Small tables locates inside and on the outside patio. Dogs are okay outside.

This place is really simple and cool. I wanted a good breakfast which I havent had in a while so I searched online and up came Rooster Cafe. Simple menu, simple ingredients, great food. I tried the Hearty Scramble and was surprised at the large portion and generous amount of meat. It wasnt all egg. Yum, I will be eating here again.

Large portions for breakfast, come hungry! It was busy when we arrived at about 8am. All the seats inside were taken but there were still some seats outside available. Order and pay at the register to get your table number. Your food will be delivered when its ready.

Best Breakfast spot in Costa Mesa by far! Comfort food at its best (Early Riser)... just make sure you check your order before you leave, they tend to forget the little things... like when you ask for "extra something..." ps. they forgot my toast (yet again)... =(

Amazing Portuguese sausage served with breakfast. Great breakfast tacos. Delicious Texas style French Toast. Unfortunately pancakes were a bit rubbery... They obviously mixed the batter too much. Also the coffee used to be good but recently it seems watered down.
