RUDE! SNOBBY! I had been shopping all day in Carmel walking around with my grandmother and 8 month old baby, most of the restaurants in this little town are very small and intimate, so as we walked around we tried to find something that was a little more loud and kid friendly but with some good Italian food and good wine. A local had stopped me and told me to check out this place and my child would fit totally fine here, well that wasnt the case. Mind you my child is pretty damn well behaved and quite, I take him out a lot so hes used to it, anyways, we walked in and it was nice and loud, asked if we had a reservation. We didnt. We got sat right away and asked for a highchair, the male hostess "ummm let me try and find one." You dont know where your high chairs are??? This place isnt that big! Server came awhile later to ask for our drinks and she wasnt very friendly. It took them 15 minutes and 3 people later to bring us a high chair and still no drinks. We totally felt Unwelcomed here so we left. Will never go back, staff is rude and snobby! Missed out on a big bill and a good tipper.

For starters, all we got was bread for dipping in oil and balsamic. It was delicious and hot, plus it came in a cute grape shaped container; however we got the bread with our cocktails/beer.. a half hour later.. when the busboy was pouring my water he accidentally spilled water on the table (fortunately not my lap) he did not come back and wipe our table. The mr. got a filet for entree and it was cooked to a perfect medium, the broccoli was inedible due to the fact it was over cooked so it was mushy, the mashed potatoes were boxed (I grew up on boxed mashed potatoes) I could feel the flakes on my tongue. They werent even buttered. :-( I got the cannelloni tricolore. And it was good, I wish the pesto was more prominent, but i wish had tried something else.. everything just seemed to blend together. I know it was a Saturday and all but I felt like they were rushing us out. Kind of disappointed with the overall experience. We wont be back. Im glad my green tea cocktail was amazing though.

Went out with friends to unwind after the holidays. Joel was attentive without smothering, Matt stepped in when Joel was busy, and there was another awesome dude working who was also amazing, but I didnt catch his name. If you want to feel right at home even on your first visit, definitely visit here and go upstairs. I just wish it was closer to where I live so I could go more often. The food was great, good sized portions for the price, and tasted great. I just ordered too much thinking the portions would be smaller. Staff is happy to add more if you order more later, so keep that in mind. They were busy, day after Christmas and all, but I didnt feel rushed at all and felt very welcome.

We went there late on a Thursday evening. The restaurant was not very full but they sat us in a corner where we felt cramped in with other guests. The table was extremely wobbly and we had to prop it up with our napkin to make it work. The service was unfortunately very slow and indifferent. We ordered garlic bread which did not appear until we reminded the waiter of it. The glass of red wine I ordered at the beginning showed up after the meal was already served. The wild boar bolognese sounded tasty but was a clump of pasta and tasted only so and so. Overall, our visit to the restaurant was quite disappointing and we dont plan to eat here again.

Stayed in Carmel for the first time a few weeks ago! Was inclined to explore the coastal town as it was the destination of my parents honeymoon 49 years ago. Sadly we lost my dad not quite a year ago. Carmel was the perfect stop along our California road trip to reflect of my dad and parents exemplary relationship to each other. Vesuvios role naturally reeled us in and embraced us under the glow of the rooftop, fellow patrons merriment, the warm air that truly felt like a lovers paradise. Salud!

Its a mixed review as Ive been many times, the service is great except when overwhelmed (waited 20+ minutes to get a cocktail after the first one was made incorrectly, a sweet dirty martini?), the food is very good (pizza, salmon, chicken) and served hot. The atmosphere is great and the rooftop bar is great when not busy (the place gets packed with just a tiny stair up and down). If I could Id give 3.5.

Great food. Great service. Great ambiance. What else is there? Okay, theres price, and this place doesnt come cheap. But you wont find anything cheap in Carmel, so get over it. Our waiter was superb. Took our seven person tables order without writing anything down, and got it all perfect. He was congenial and witty to boot. Yes, this is a great place for some good Italian food.

I ignored so many warning signs - "vesuvio", the "diners, drive-ins and dives" endorsement on the menu, waiters leaving dirty rags on adjacent tables... This would be a slightly above-average Italian place...in Indianapolis. In Carmel, it is entirely out of place and out-classed. Go elsewhere. choices are myriad.

Delish food and service downstairs was fantastic, inviting ambiance on the rooftop with stars overhead. Didnt like the server correcting us that the dirty martini should taste like the sea water it was. It was poorly made. To his credit he remade it and it was better. Also no egg whites on their whiskey sours.

This is my favorite spot to dine in Carmel. The rooftop seating is an absolute must. It has this really trendy vibe that you expect from one of those fancy places in LA, but its kept lower key, and feels exclusive. They have great happy hour deals with yummy mini dishes, and cheap welldrinks.

My Mom and I split the spinach salad, crab cake, and rainbow trout. We were pleasantly surprised. The fish was juicy and delicious. Louis was our server and he was fantastic, very prompt and friendly. We stumbled upon the place and were glad we did! We left stuffed and happy.

Waited ten minutes to be asked what drink we wanted. Noisy couple on adjacent table werent told off. Had to ask for check twice. Wasnt asked how food was. PizZas were ok. Had to ask for water twice. Waiter gave me three 5s in change, meaning I had no choice but to over tip.

I came with a large group and just ordered drinks. The ambiance was lovely and the staff was friendly. That said, one drink got lost in the shuffle and another we sent back because it had a sort of vinegar smell. Also, the bathroom was a bit of a disaster.

Boven is het café op het verwarmde dakterras waar je heerlijk kan genieten van een drankje en een hapje.

This place is what Italian SHOULD BE! My biggest recommendation would be the cannoli! Get it with chocolate chips if you can! Great for an elegant date night, a group lunch or dinner, a FANTASTIC place for a happy hour!

The lamb Osso Bucco was out of this world,. Veal Marsalla was marvelous darling, Mater D was charming and our waitress, Ryan, was terrific. This restaurant is definitely on our happy place list.
