Had a horrible experience with a special order cake. I placed my order in person, more than a week in advance of the party. Spoke with Sherry in detail about what I wanted, she wrote it all down. I asked her the price and she said about $30 to $50 at most. I come in the day of the party to pick up the cake. No one has any idea where the cake is or record of my order. I get tons or run around, no one will give me a straight answer. Finally someone contacts Sherry . She says they will make the cake in about a half hour. Then I have the cake, its not what I ordered but close. Nothing else I can do at this point anyway the party starts in an hour. I have to rush home. Then they tell me it will be $76! Yes, seventy six dollars for a cake to feed 6 people. Its not even what I ordered. I complain and they say thats the price, take it or leave it. So basically it was extortion. If I had any idea it would be that much I would have left and gone to a decent bakery and gotten something else. But I had no choice now I had to just pay their ridiculous price or completely fail my mother in law by showing up to the party with no cake. A decent company would have offered a discount for screwing up the order. Nope! This place charged me double price after they screwed everything up. Horrible, horrible place. The cakes may be tasty but not worth the price and the customer service is so bad... I cant even.

I ordered a 2 tier Snoopy cake for my daughters 3rd birthday party ONE month in advance. I want to make it clear that i Loved this bakery, i ordered special cakes for baby showers, baptism and all of my daughters birthday cakes . Anyway, the Snoopy cakes was to be pick up at 12 pm , when we got there was no cake , nobody could find my order, even with my receipt, finally they said the person who took my order is on vacation. Yup! That was their excuse , i guess the person who took the order when on vacation the day after she took my order, and for some reason did not put my order through. The party was starting at 1 pm and there i was 12:45 pm waiting for them to give a solution. I demanded them to make that damn cake and yes i was pissed! Finally someone said they would have the cake ready by 3 or 4 pm . And yes they did the cake, of course it was not the pictures i wanted nor the color i requested but it was better than nothing. The cake initial price was $210 in which i had no problem paying! But for all the chaos they gave me generous $20 discount. Thank you guys for the great deal! But i will be taking my business somewhere else.

Around 11:30 am, I decided that I wanted to surprise my mother, who works in Burlingame, with a pie for her Birthday. Unable to deliver it myself, I was hoping to have it delivered to her, or find a place w/in walking distance such that she could pick it up during her lunch hour (~noon). I was able to find Copenhagen Bakery & Cafe via Google, called and spoke to Christine, and was able to select a pie, pay for it, and arrange to have it personalized ("Happy Birthday, XXXX!") and packaged for pick-up by Noon. Christine also offerred to contact my mother, to notify her that a pie was waiting - thus preventing me from having to notify her, and ensuring that it would remain a surprise. I am aware that it was a busy time of day, and that I gave little prep-time, and yet I was extremely pleased with their customer service - and though I did not see the product myself, nor taste it, according to my mother (who typically makes her own pies, at home, no less), the pie was fantastic & personalized beautifully! Thanks for everything!

I have to agree with some other reviewers that their meals at this cafe - I have eaten breakfast here twice - are just okay. An adequate and very popular breakfast place to go. When we lingered at an outdoor table on a busy morning we got lots of attention from staff as they kept asking if they could get us anything more - hint, hint, MOVE. We took our time. Yet the pastries and bakery items are amazing wonderful. I tried two of the fancy pastries yesterday - brought a dozen to share at work, and got nothing but happy comments. The one with chocolate mousse filling - wow. Rich, creamy decadence. The other had marzipan and a light flaky crust, also quite good. I also bought a loaf of the sour dough bread and it is also delicious. Pleasantly sour and fluffy with a crisp crust. Pricing for the loaf of bread was quite reasonable. The pastries are well priced for what they are - high quality indulgences. Looking forward to trying more of the breads and pastries soon.

Went here for dinner at the part of the cafe thats "dressed up" at night. Service was seriously awfull. It took 24 minutes for someone to even come by to greet us. She then took our drink, appetizer, and entree order all at once. After she dropped off waters we didnt see here again until the check was ready. The food was Ok. My husband had the house special meatballs and I had the shrimp and scallop penne. The scallops were so overcooked, one had turned burnt orange. The others were chewy like beef. My husband enjoyed the meatballs, but even those were just pretty nice. While it was cheap it still didnt feel worth the price for what we got.

Good coffee, awesome pastries, decent other food, mediocre service. Everytime I come here I have to repeat my order a few times or verify the things Ive ordered. Im always worried theyll get the order wrong, but thankfully, hasnt happened yet. That said, everyones friendly and the quality is solid here. Their chai latte is sweet over spicy and they have a bunch of fresh brewed coffee, from light roast to dark to hazelnut. Theyre bakery forward so the pastries are on point, but if youre more of an eggs person, their omelets are an acceptable, if not as great, second choice. Take out or eat there!

This review is for the cafe, which was terrible. It was some of the worst food Ive had in a restaurant in years. Everything I ordered was either mediocre or awful. Our group left the restaurant with most of the food still left on our plates. It was really that bad. I havent really tried much from the bakery, but with many great options available within a few hundred feet, I dont think that I will any time soon.

The princess cake was very rich! I bought one some weeks ago and ate three (yes thats 3) pieces. Then I had to spend the next 6 days dieting and working out to burn it off. I havent been there for anything other than breakfast, but Ill be back soon. Their pancakes are ok and their breakfast rolls and pastries are good. Coffees fresh too. Theyre open for dinner sometimes but Im not sure when.

We ordered a traditional Danish birthday cake from there, and oh yeah, they knew what I wanted. A cakeman. Giant size pastry cake with lots of candy. As a Dane, I could not be any happier. Their bakery is second to none in the Bay Area if you go by Danish standards. They have everything. If you go here, you will find out what a Danish pastry is truly meant to br
