I moved to Berkeley summer of 2014 & Im still exploring the area and I love indian cuisine which this town offers ample of ethnic cuisine. So after I googled & read yelp reviews, I called Priya Restaurant to check out their Lunch Buffet. A gentleman answered the phone, answered my questions, kindly & patiently gave me the direction to get there which is only down the street from where I live. Found it easily & as I walked in I was greeted by the older gentleman as well as the person (who after eating, later introduced himself by the name Reddy) I spoke to on the phone, sat me where I wanted to be sitted - by the window. As the older gentleman (forgot his name) pours water on my glass, I mentioned its my first time at the restaurant, so he escorted me to the food buffet and graciously showed & gave me details of all the food on the carts. Reddy came to my table & introduced himself & spent a couple minutes for a friendly little chat about the restaurant and them as the family owner. Both gentlemen were very helpful & informative with the food and constantly checked up on me. Food is DELICIOUSLY authentic & EXCELLENT service! I had few dishes that are my first & they are delicious! Will definitely visit again & support this local, excellent & friendly neighborhood eatery.

Seriously though. It is rude to show up there just for the coconut chutney, so I am pleased to inform you all that they have very tasty masala dosas, a solid buffet with a significant vegetarian selection, and reasonable prices that wont impair your ability to go grocery shopping in an attempt to recreate that chutney. Of course, like most Indian places, they are lacking chile relish and their spicy sauce has, as normal, too much lime. It is utterly confusing to try to understand how Indian cuisine relates lime with spicy, and I can only assume that Pataks Chile Relish is the only superior hot sauce to put on my Indian food. Alas, it would be a mistake to get food to go for such a reason with Priya, because this clean, and organized restaurant is a great complement to its Ayurvedically sound setting and family atmoshpere. Seconds? Of course, its all you can eat! If you are in the area and used to Vics, but have more than 20 mins, try Priya for a more sophisticated and enjoyable meal.

Wow. This place is my new favorite Indian food restaurant in the whole bay area. They serve both north AND south Indian cuisine. The have lunch, dinner, and weekend buffets, plus prix fixe dinners. The food is pretty great plus these are some of the best prices Ive seen for a buffet or dinner entres anywhere. The buffet is bountiful! About 8 different main dishes, plus lots of sides, super tasty chutneys, desserts, bread, and other add-ons. Not only is this restaurant great, but the whole block that its on is amazing; next door is the best middle eastern grocery store Ive run across in the bay area, and across the street is a cheese shop (all in a fridge, though, not a counter, so i doubt you can ask for samples), plus a deli meat/charcuterie counter, plus lots of other goodies. And on the other side of Priya is a smaller Rainbow Foods (SF)-like grocery store. Also across the street is Lanesplitters for good beer/pizza, and Acme which is a great local dive bar.

I wish I could give more than 3 Stars. I went for the Lunch buffet today. The buffet is over at 3:00pm and I went at 2:30pm. I was disappointed because they had some really yummy choices, but they were out/gone and it was clear they werent going to put any more out. no desserts were out either, they were all gone. They should have the buffet stocked until 3:00pm, if they are going to advertise that they have a buffet til 3:00pm. They had a chicken/sauce dish but all that was left was the sauce. The vegetable samosas were dried out and cold, had been out for a while. Those dough-y ball things soaked in the sweet sauce were all gone... just the syrup sauce was there. Also, i got no service whatsoever. I had 2 trips to the buffet but my dirty plates from the first trip just sat at my table while the workers just sat at a table and chatted to each other. Also, i had a big (3 inch) sharp chicken bone in my chicken dish.

You must be looking for Indian food. Bamm! This is good. I stopped by for the lunch buffet, having seen their rating of 4.4 stars. I arrived around 2PM, so the crowd was gone. I AM the crowd. Started with the lamb curry and curry mushroom. Wow, it made me wanting to try everything on the stand. And it did not disappoint. You have gotta try the tomato soup. One thing I did not like was the spicy pickle which I thought was chicken, too late. I was a very appreciative customer at the end of the meal and left happily with a togo box packed with goodies. My coworker loved the take out. Her eyes were literally popping out learning it was only lunch buffet for under $10. Where is it where is it. Now you have found it.

This is the defacto spot for Indian buffet for the S.O. and I. We probably come here 2-3 times a month, but weve been more. The family that runs the place is super friendly and the food is always awesome. The heat and spice of the dishes fluctuates so a dish is never the same twice - theres always something a little different which I think is great since it becomes a conversation piece for us. I typically love the goat curry, chicken makhani, ginger chicken, biryani rice, dal and the cabbage fry but its all awesome. They hand make the mango lassies here; we get one every time. Theres lots of Indian food in the area - we feel most at home here.

Best Indian food in Berkeley (and Im Indian :)). Affordable price. They dont blast ridiculously loud music at you so you can have a nice, quiet lunch or dinner and share some pleasant conversation (or have a peaceful, uninterrupted meal by yourself). The service staff is extremely courteous and responsive (seems to be a family so you get a nice mom-and-pop experience without sacrificing menu diversity and range - this is very rare). No delays and the buffet selection is fantastic. Many dishes that you wouldnt find in most Indian restaurants are actually at the buffet. Cant go wrong with this one ;)

I love this place! My boyfriend and I live about a mile away, so weve made it our weekend tradition. He loves the dough balls in syrup, I love the chicken tikka masala, and we both love the never-ending supply of naan. Yesterday we went hoping to get dinner buffet but they dont have it on Wed nights, so we ordered off the menu for the first time. The food was even better--rich, creamy tikka masala sauce, thick naan, (super) spicy lentil soup. The service was fast and friendly.

Its the finest place in the whole of Berkeley to have the best Indian food. Its only a month that I am here in Berkeley and already visited the restaurant 8 times . Reasonable rates, tasty and splendid food and great people. The buffet offers wide range stuff everyday with a very reasonable rate of 10 bucks. I would suggest this for every one who want to experience proper Indian food

Located on busy San Pablo Avenue, youll be nicely surprised after you enter. The interior is clean and nicely decorated. There is ample seating and lots of space between tables. They have both lunch buffets daily and weekend dinner buffets. The food was good. Everything was nicely seasoned and properly prepared. The service was a bit lackluster.
