Back in 1997 it was excellent and i went all the time and loved it so much, maybe i am just too jaded now because i like meat. nothing like a good rojan josh or butter chicken or tikka masala.. yumm! its okay Indian food. the price is more expensive than what you would expect, but then its in the public market. if they improve the rice, do more lamb and make the dishes spicier, i would go there more often. i think they dumb down the taste for the more frequent American palette than truly give you the taste of India. COME ON! WAZWAN! MAKE IT BETTER! remember the day when they were all mellow happy Ashram types working there from the SYDA yoga place on the corner of Stanford street? Back then, they put love into the food and it was sooooo good. Man I miss those days. The manager lady at the register asked me if it was my first visit, even though Ive been there 3 times the past month. I said no, I used to live here and returned again to give it another try. then she charged me extra for my Naan bread even though it was posted as part of of the special. Huh? She explained it was either bread or rice. Cmon, thats cheap. Who eats Indian food without one or the other? I dont have time to read the fine print, I just want good affordable Indian food. Tread lightly at this place, maybe theyll get better, maybe its the best they can do given the price of rent at Public Market.

Total garbage. Avoid! No flavor. Unhelpful servers. Too many choices, all look the same. Naan and samosas bland, stale. Rice soggy no flavor. Salad wilted, no flavor. Chicken poor quality, dark meat. Chutney AWFUL. Over priced. Positive reviews in here are obviously fake. I recommend Nyum Bai cambodian near Wazwan.

Summary based on a couple of lunches while stuck nearby: -cheap -only somewhat Americanized, but ok considering the rest of the options in the food court area -good service -parking ok -no free wifi -you can drive to Viks in 10 minutes, but then fight for parking and a table

Simply put you cant go wrong here! One of the best food court restaurant at the Emeryville Public Market. Great menu with the best Indian Cuisine can offer. Very generous portion for either dining @ food court or to-go. Chicken Curry and Marsala are my favorite.

Thiis is a solid lunchtime choice! The two- or three-item meal choices are a bit expensive, but everything is delicious, and it really is the only Indian option close to this commercial area. I highly recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala, which is always delicious.

This was the first place I tried in the Public Market and it impressed a lot. The Chicken Masala was very good, as was the Naan and Mango Lassi.

Good selection of curries and stews, with numerous vegetarian options. Ask for your naan hot from the tandoori.
