Ambiance five star...very little vegan or gluten free options which would be so easy to improve on. As a vegan I almost always end up getting the bagel with the cucumbers hummus tomato onion... They can never answer me there but the bagels vegan.. Or I can get tofu wrap for the tofu is usually not so yummy.. Its kind of plain tasting not really flavor like anything.. I think they have one pastry that is dairy free and possibly gluten free but its not vegan .. They have really good to hear and really amazing drinks if you like sugar Which i do but I have to be careful about not consuming a lot of sugar. I really enjoy their teas. The vegan milk has sugar in it though. The staff is friendly...good study spot..internet was too slow to work on my prezi so had to go somewhere else.. I understand about service dogs and they do not harass which is awesome. Watch out if youre wearing sandals cuz the bathroom floors are often filled with tiny little puddles of water I dont know if its from the toilet or from leak in the sink. All that said though.. The staff is nice and the ambiance is great and they i providing a great space for people to get work done and I really honor that.

This was my first time at this "cafe". I felt that since it is a middle eastern restaurant, I should order something authentic, so I did. I ordered "Falafel", which is supposed to be the signature dish for any arabic middle eastern restaurant. This was by far the most awful food that I have had in a long time! The ingredients were very old and - putting it politely - just tasted awful. The so-called falafel was wrapped inside a white flour, old, and very cold lavash bread that was falling to pieces as I tried eating it. The service and attitude; especially by a female (who seemed to be part of the family owning the joint) was not any better. I would stay away from this joint called "Cafe" at all costs and would advise all my friends to do the same. To make matters worse, whereas the best Falafel that I have ever tasted did not cost more than 8 or 9 dollars tops, this poor excuse for a Felafel cost a whopping 12 dollars!!!!!

Cafe with back yard. The food is your basic breakfast food and reasonably priced. Service was friendly in the past but Ive definitely had weird experiences and the past two visits left me leaving without being able to order. For example one time I had ordered a coffee drink for about $4 it had been made and I then found out that the minimum was $5. Strangely, they preferred tossing out the drink or charging me a small transaction fee over running my credit card. Went back two months later. There were two people ahead of me but it took about 15 mins since the cashier was answering the phone and generally slow. Once it was my turn I was told they had stopped serving breakfast 25mins ago and wouldnt serve me breakfast. So, I left and went somewhere else.

This place has to be the most over priced cafe in the area. Everything is expensive considering the funky atmosphere and location. I ordered the ginger steamer for $4.95. Hey, it must have cost them 27 cents for the slice of ginger, 2 lemon slices and a bit of honey. After letting it steep for several minutes, it tasted like warm water. Even the second cup 20 minutes later, which had the above ingredients steeping in a small amount of water, was insipidly flavorless. Ive come here with my drawing group and the wait staff patrols the cafe to make sure everyone at the table has ordered something. Because of the unfriendly environment and expensive menu, the group no longer meets at Leila. Id give this place zero stars if possible.

This place has a great layout and lots of seating, however the food is pricey and hit or miss, and espresso drinks are mediocre. Also dont make the mistake of sitting at the owners favorite table (it looks like all the rest in the row and is not marked). A few minutes after I sat down he came and slapped a reserved sign on the table. Every other table in the area was empty! When I asked he said it was "his" table but that I did not "need" to move. It was an awkward confrontation and then very uncomfortable knowing he was not going to sit anywhere else and instead wait until I was done and gone. There are too many other wonderful cafes with nicer ownership to come back to this place.

Arrogant owner with an attitude. The lady at the register was nice and warm, and as I ordered coffee and was about to pay the owner said from the side "What shes trying to tell you is that you have to spend $5 then the system will generate password for wifi". No - the lady wasnt trying to tell me that. No issues spending $5, would have spent more than that. Will not go again.

It was very disappointing. Our food sat on the counter long enough to get cold. When we told staff, they said that once the food has left the kitchen, they cant take it back. When we got the food,it was mediocre in taste. The cafe has gentrification energy to it, in the attitudes of the staff, and the feel of the place.

Initially greeted by a really rude guy, but after that the service was okay. Food wasnt great (bagel want cooked well), they charged me for avocado then served my food without it - when I asked for it they said they were out. Outdoor seating is the highlight here, its a great place to chill and catch up with someone.

Food is almost always good especially weekend brunch. The setting is spacious and relaxing. My biggest complaint is the espresso drinks. They tend to over steam and even burn the milk. Both Casa Latina and especially Bartaville make better drinks. I still come here to sit and work because of the food and setting.

My husband and I stopped in Berkeley on our way to Sonoma. We stayed at the Claremont Hotel but wanted something more home style for breakfast. I checked Trip Advisor and found Rick & Anns. We waited longer than the 15-25 minutes we were told but whatever we were on vacation.

Loved their omlettes, fresh fruit, delicious coffee and homemade chai tea; great atmosphere for writers and bookworms who want to enjoy their morning. The owner was also very attentive and fun to talk to. Will definitely be stopping by here again next time were in town.

Not the best breakfast place in Berkeley. I couldnt swallow more than one bite of the Egg Benedict. First time I had potatoes that I needed to add salt because it was so bad. The Chai Tea was too sweet. It does have nice seatings out back with plants and fountains.
