Horrible experience at this restaurant . . . went yesterday to celebrate our Nursing Directors birthday. Front desk . . . was RUDE, specially the girl on duty that day (2/10/2016)... she didnt allow us to get in ... she said that we need to be complete and wait for the others . . . We waited x 15 minutes at the front desk (take note) . . . we have reservations before we went there! also its not so busy (we went there around 1:45)... we noted that other customers doesnt have the same waiting time as we did. Then were seated inside and the initial server got our initial orders (Austin) . . . next ordeal . . . waiting time . . . 45 minutes! ... before the cook came... So since were really hungry . . . imagine most of us came from Fontana CA.... then our Medical Director asked the girl on duty *(same front desk girl too) ... Wheres the manager? She answered, I have no idea ...? in a snobbish manner! The manager came and talked to our Boss . . . (the celebrant), she complained that weve waiting too long for our orders and another issue is ... Weve been waiting for so long but the table beside us were served first! ... imagine we came there first and were way ahead of this group then they are already eating... Heres what the manager (Jason Hayden) said to our Boss... "The order was keyed in late by the initial waiter (Austin) . . .honestly Austin was nice to us and he said that he did his part . . . so whos telling the truth? then heres the clincher . . . Manager said "The other table ahead of your group is served first because they are REGULARS!" (Imagine these words coming from the Manager of this restaurant!) Is their service different to first time customers like us as compared to regulars! ... also he said that the front desk girl reported to him that our group is attacking her? but in fact our Medical Director is simply asking where is the manager in a calm manner . . . and she just answered "I have no idea" and since then she had those silly snobbish glances to our group! The cook came (Nelson) .... finally . . . he was nice and was able to calm us down. Then another manager came (Michael) when were almost done . . . we told him of our ordeal and we told him that he should educate his team... proper Customer service... and improve the waiting time . . . and we think that they need a competent manager who can resolve issues and problems and not finger point issues to the employees... The Manager (Jason Hayden) didnt help us in any way... so how do we rate it....No stars for this restaurant!

As a party of 10, we celebrated my little sisters birthday. We had 7:30 reservations, arrived at 7:30 and didnt get seated for 20 minutes. We finally got seated on an empty half of the restaurant and later had a few other groups come to the back side. They were quick to take drink orders and even dinner orders. We went through two rounds of cocktails at our table and got offered a third before a chef ever came out. Finally at 8:50pm we got Chef "Luis". He complained about management as he approached our table, proceeded to say things like they didnt have enough chefs for the number of tables seated and over worked the chefs. I told him that we were just here to have a good time and he said "oh great so it doesnt matter how the food comes out." He burned the rice, over cooked the shrimp, scallops were both under cooked and over cooked and my lobster was perfect. He under cooked my sisters steak. He had no coordination cooking, by the time he finished cooking it was 9:40PM. Luis put on a small show with the onion volcano and after that it was back to the bitter celebration. He was a MESS! Foo am over the place. My cousin had rice hit him in the eye. We ended up being the last ones there. Everything was shut down and they finally came to sing happy birthday to my sister. We spent 3.5 hours there and it was such a disappointment. If gratuity wasnt included I wouldnt of tipped anyone but the bartender.

(TL;DR place sucks.)Benihana Santa Anita by far the worst ever location weve ever dined at (This was our 1st visit to this location 3/26/2016). Never again! Made a reservation for 7 people @ 8:30 for birthday dinner. We all arrived 20 minutes early and were told we would be seated at our reservation time but didnt get seated until 8:50. This is what immediately upset us. Management & Front Desk is beyond awful. They sat two more people at our table making our TABLE 9 PEOPLE which made the plate space very tight. The chef didnt arrive to our table until 9:45pm. How does this occur with 8:30 reservations? We wanted to all get up and leave but I insisted we did not because were do you find another restaurant at 9 pm to celebrate. I was embarrassed because some of my family who hadnt been to a Bennyhanas before wanted to know why I picked a place with terrible service. It really put a dent in my familys first time experience and my birthday. Did I mention that having extra people at your table makes your plate of food cold since it takes longer to complete individual dishes. We didnt leave until 11pm because thats how long the service took. This location has no idea what the definition of reservation means. Sorry but this location has permanently been crossed of our list of places to eat.

Bar Louie Closed? Its okay, because Benihana actually revamped the location and it actually looked quite nice! My gf, her adorable baby and I decided to go for happy hour and it was pretty good! I wanted a special vegetable tempura roll and the sushi chef not only made it delicious but it was actually pretty!! the edemame was a bit bland but the seaweed salad was better than what i had at most places ..sweet! I also caught a glimpse of the teppanyaki area and saw the chef cooked with a blindfold on! Pretty cool!

Service was unbelievably disappointing. Had to ask 4 times for a Kirin at the bar and even then the bartender acted as if I was inconveniencing her. And there were no other customers at the bar. We then had to wait 40 minutes after our scheduled reservation for our table when we arrived for our reservation on time. Things were no better after that. I could go on and on but you get the picture. The only positive was the chef. All other service, including the manager, was not what I expected from Benihana.

I was weary of eating at Benihana because of some of the bad reviews regarding the services. But I was glad that none of that came about. Waited about 30 mins because of me reservations, no big deal. Waited in the bar lobby area. Got service right away and staff were very pleasant. Once seated waitress took our orders. Appetizers, first and second courses came out just right. Waitress was very attentive to our drink refills. Chef experience was very entertaining. All in all GOOD TIME!!!!

Since I look forward to using my birthday certificate at Benihana, I was happy when I saw that this location opened close to me. Now I dont have to go all the way to Santa Monica. This location is really nice too! The bar/lounge area is comfortable and pretty, and the rest of the restaurant is huge and nicely decorated. The sushi bar is very attractive, with a mural of cherry blossoms behind the chefs. The food is consistent with meals Ive had before. Parking is nice and easy too!
