I came here for brunch with my boyfriend on Saturday. It was nice surprise, a lovely location and a gorgeous day. They gave us an awesome seat outside where we could see the ocean and their lovely landscaped grounds. Overall the food was ok, nothing special. We had the civiche appetizer, fish and chips and benedict. Firstly, the service was spotty. It took them at least 20 minutes to get our drinks. Secondly, they brought all our food out at once... its an appetizer for a reason, not a side to our lunch. They asked us if they wanted to take our lunch back to the kitchen so we could eat our appetizer. Seriously? You want to take our food back so you can put it under a heat lamp because you dont understand pacing? We decided to keep all the food and treat it as a side I guess. Like I said, the food was decent, nothing horribly off, or amazingly great. The last nail in the coffin for a sub-par experience was the fact it took our waitress nearly 20 minutes to get us our bill after our plates had already been cleared and our glasses emptied. Overall there are probably way better places to go. The ambiance is nice, the food is mediocre and the service is bad.

We stumbled upon this restaurant last weekend while looking for dog-friendly breakfast locations near Santa Cruz and definitely hit the jackpot with Sanderlings! Our two large dogs (a Golden Retriever and a Bernese Mountain Dog) were kindly accommodated on the patio and welcomed by the staff, who even brought them fresh ice water and set up an umbrella so they wouldnt have to lay in the hot sun. We ordered mimosas, the California omelet, huevos rancheros, and breakfast sausage. Im pretty picky when it comes to food (and mimosas), and I was overall thrilled. I felt the service was great and they did a good job of not rushing us but not making us tap our watches and wonder what black hole the waitress fell into while getting our check. We had a very relaxing, very satisfying experience. And the view is amazing. 5 stars all the way.

Sanderlings has a great location with amazing views, but the restaurant has jumped the shark. Service was poor and disorganized, waitress didnt seem interested, we just didnt feel welcome. I guess thats what happens when you encounter dozens of tourists every day - its hard to keep up the happy face. Still for the prices, Id expect more.

Saturday nights in the bar are exceptional. Not only is the food (prices also) top notch, but there is a jazz group (Bob Burnett) there which is outstanding. Tammy Brown, the blues singer, often comes when she isnt on tour. She is fantastic. This place is not to be missed!

Upscale food and prices. Semi casual atmosphere. Lovely to sit outside overlooking the ocean when weather is nice (often weddings there on weekends during on-season). Fish and chips and granola with yogurt were exceptional.

Great view. Awful food. Theyre coasting on the location. Terrible wine and bland food. Very good service. So, 5 for ambience and service and 0 for food and wine works out to 2.5 stars, rounded down.

Service is very nice. Great scenery. However the food is poor. The fish in the fish and chips was over cooked and dry, the fries were cold. The Caesar salad was tasteless.
