Food was good, though portions were small and plates were overpriced. Service was horrible to the point I completely forgot how good the food was. We arrived at happy hour time; they were hesitant to give us the happy hour price. After we got our entrees, the server refused to give any pepper, chili or any kind of spice to my friend who wanted to make his food a bit spicier. She claimed the kitchen ran out of spice which is hard to believe. I have worked in restaurants for years and this line of “kitchen ran out of spice” in a Jamaican restaurant sounded so lame to me! Later, when my last two guests arrived, they would refuse to put a chair at our table, though our table was big enough to seat two more people easily. And after all these annoying push backs, we got the bill with over $50 dollars gratuity added to it and off course they would not split the check, which we knew from beginning. Therefore, all 8 of us at this point, had to do our own math. What bothers me is I feel like we went to this restaurant to serve ourselves not being served! And the last strike was when the server came and announced very loudly that someone in this table did not sign a $25 tab. Seriously people! You have a business in AZ, dont you know any amount under $50 does not have to be signed in state of AZ. At one point, I spoke to the manager of the restaurant addressing this annoying service; though it turned out he was the major problem himself. Bottom line, if this restaurant does not start to accommodate their guests and work on the service, they will lose customers, no matter how good the food is. The major success in hospitality job is customer satisfaction. They definitely did not satisfy me and I am not planning to spend money in this restaurant or recommend it to anyone I know.

The only reason this place doesnt get 5 stars is because the food is lacking. Its all just jerk seasoning and labeled gourmet. They had this pork belly and guava dish that was to die for but the only good dish they ever came up with somehow found its way off the menu. Other than that, just spicy for no reason at all, which (I heard from a native Jamaican) is how it is in Jamaica - very bland and spicy for no apparent reason. Other than that.. The other 4 stars comes from 3 things: the service, the vibe, and the cocktails. 1. The service - all cool people dressed to the hilt who take your considerations seriously and will provide you with an awesome experience and appropriate suggestions. 2. The vibe - modern, yet very chill. The indoor is low volume, low lighting created for intimacy, both indoors and out. The patio has wood, metal, water, plants, and if you feel so inclined, a cigar as well. 3. The cocktails - whatever you order here is as if God himself dropped an angel on earth just to make a signature libation just for you at $10 a pop. Theyre incredible to say the LEAST. I cannot emphasize this enough. Please understand this. The bottom line: Go here to get a drink and while youre there still trying to comprehend the fact that you will never find another cocktail as good as these peoples, you may then be inclined to order food if you are hungry. If you do, please be prepared that the palate cleansers are the highlight of this experience more than the food itself. And then when you are all done, grab yourself a cigar and thank the Lord for the beautiful life hes given you. Because this is as close as youll come to island time in this arid desert of a city.

Was rather disappointed in the service. Came in at 7pm with a reservation and was told to sit and wait to be seated. Well 10 minutes later and what seems like an after thought we were seated. And from the looks of it there were only 3 tables on the patio seated and 1 in the restaurant so not sure why we waited 10 minutes to be sat. The food was amazing but our server was less then thrilling. She was very polite, but she seems very scattered and unable to handle the tables she had. We received our cocktails and ordered when they came. Thankfully the other server and what seemed to be the the owner were attentive and made sure we had water. The dinner was super yummy. And we asked for a second round of drinks which literally took 20 minutes to get. We sat with an empty table, plates already cleared and dessert ordered and received before we received our second drinks which were ordered when food was dropped off. When I finally caught our servers attention for the bill it took 10 minutes to receive it and another 10 minutes to bring back the copy to sign. So after a long drawn out meal and paying well over $100 for 2 meals and 4 drinks with 1 dessert I am having a hard time giving this restaurant more then 3 stars.

I went here with a couple friends for a post holiday catch up. We had been looking forward to going based on the menu. I arrived first and had to wait in the lobby until the entire party to arrive before being seated even though we had a reservation and I requested to wait at the table. We ordered the rum punch after being seated. It was delicious but very strong! I later had a pina colada because I assumed they would do it right being a rum bar. It was so strong that it was almost undrinkable. The portions of food are very small. My friends split the salmon which ended up being about a four inch square portion barely enough for one person. It was $24. I had pork and polenta which was a decent portion and quite tasty. We also ordered a dessert to share (rum cake) which was the equivalent of about one bite. The service was attentive but with the slight snarkiness that so many 20somethings communicate with these days. All in all it was an okay experience. I will not go back though. I dont mind paying more for good food and good service but the service was just "okay" and the portions were very small.

First of all, the drinks are superb, and I find the food very tasty. A friend and I shared the small plate of roasted plantains and the entree of pulled pork with polenta tonight. The plantains were tender and delicious, the pork succulent, well seasoned and a bit spicy. However. The portion sizes are downright stingy. We got 6 slices of plantain for $8. Seriously, a whole plantain costs about 50 cents. I know its a "small plate", but thats just ridiculous. And the prices are very high. I enjoy the food, but not enough to go here regularly, what with the high prices and small servings. Our server was also apparently new and had another employee hovering over her watching her performance... or so we guessed. They never did explain why this was so. It felt very awkward, watching him give her significant glances over our table. And despite there being two of them, it took them about fifteen minutes to pick up our completed check.

Great ambiance and very strong and flavorful beverages! (It is a rum bar after all!!) Having a mother that is from Jamaica and having grownup on the cuisine.. I expected more. The curry goat was tender and well presented and had a great spice to it. The plantains were not cooked to the standards I was accustomed too, more fried then baked or sauteed, so I was not impressed. My jerk prawns and johnny cakes were very nicely done, however, so I do recommend that. Another let down was my jerk chicken, which was half a Cornish hen, so, maybe it was that that caused them to send me chicken with red by the bones.. informed my waiter and he came back with that the chef called it muscle tendon, but it was cooked.. I have been eating chicken for over 30 years, and I KNOW raw chicken when I see it.. All-in-all I will likely try this place again and I, certainly, recommend it.
