I went to Todd English P.U.B. on Tuesday 10/7. The bar was modestly busy, but with 5 or 6 open seats. The restaurant was about 30% full. It took 5 minutes or more to place a drink order, which was delivered promptly. After 5 more minutes trying to get attention, I was able to get a menu. The customer next to me desperately tried to get the bartenders attention for another beverage to no avail. After some time, I was able to accost a different bartender and place my order, and then finally get a drink for the customer next to me. The next 20 minutes were spent by 3 customers trying to get attention of the staff who repeatedly looked at the ground or away when near us. The staff was happily chatting with each other and with the young girls at the bar. We all joked the if we set something on fire one of the bartenders would have to come and put it out. my food came so overdone that I could barely cut it. And it was a hamburger! The bartender was kind enough to remove this from the check. However, I did not get another drink, and gave up trying and asked for check, as did my new friends at the bar. A comedy of errors. I returned for breakfast with a hotel voucher, and spent 15 minutes waiting for coffee before leaving. The manager offered to pay for my breakfast, (already had a voucher). This is the third and last time I will patronize this establishment. Good Luck! The Hotel generously gave me points for my inconvenience, but really, I just wanted to have a beer and a bite and go to bed. There is a systemic problem here, and they are fortunate that the hotel funnels customers in that havent been violated yet.

My husband and I went in late for apps after the Deonte Wilder fight. There werent many customers there at the time; however, there were plenty of employees running around (as if they were lost). We sat at the bar and ordered a couple of beers and a large order of fries. The fries were served to us smothered and covered (which isnt what we had ordered) with no napkins, no flatware, no salt and pepper and no condiments. It took about 20 minutes, but we were finally able to get the attention of one of the bartenders to get us what we needed. As for the customer that complained about blacks and whites being treated differently, get that chip off your shoulder and stop letting that type of thing effect your life. I respect all people the same (as I would expect them to treat me), so I am not placing judgment on you, but some people just arent this way. I encounter rude people a lot, but am not going to let them taint my judgement of others. My husband and I are both white and were treated horribly. We were completely ignored for most of the time and had almost finished our app before we had received anything that we needed. For God sake, our fries were not even salted and it took the bartender 5 minuted to chase down a salt shaker! Honestly, what bar doesnt have salt and pepper shakers? You were right about one thing....The price of the food was too costly for the quality and service we received. Some people just simply dont care what color you are and take no pride in their job and arent going to serve anyone with respect. They are too ignorant to understand that you, the customer, are the reason they are able to pay their rent.

I have never had such horrible experience! Im so upset right about now I cant think straight. Lets see where do I start... The waiting staff was rude as well as the manager. She was rude and a bit arrogant. During the time we were there we had not one but three different waitress. The first took our drink and appetizer order. The second delivered the order and slung it on the table. The third was a bit nice. We had to ask for appetizer plates. Not one out of the three came back to ask if we needed anything. The first waited on several tables around us but at no time did she attempt to check our table. The second never came back and the third...well she tried her best. The manger came out with an attitude and stated the first felt as though we didnt want her but she (the manager) didnt bother to find out why. Now Im thinking why would she think that we didnt say anything to give her that impression. I could go on and on but I wont. I will say that was my first and last time ever dining at Todd English The Pub in Birmingham, AL. Now you can take my advice and the advice of other unsatisfied customers or you can experience it for yourself. But dont say you werent warned. Ill end by saying Im so pissed I want to check out of The Westin!

If you want to be ignored by the bar staff and pay $9 for a draft beer then this is your place. A pub it is not. Its probably the farthest thing from a pub I can think of. I sat twiddling my thumbs for about 10 minutes, until finally a guy came by and said " thats not a seat at the bar, that stool shouldnt be there" and then walk off. So, I move to a proper bar seat, and ask if they carry any local beers. "Yes". So we played this game until I finally deduced that they in fact do have Good People IPA. So I got one and shortly after they called last call. They were literally putting things away at this point, so I quickly asked for a roadie and cashed out. $18 for 2 pints of local beer. $18. I can go to the taproom literally 4 miles away and get it for $4, and these dorks are going to charge me $9. Outrageous prices and horrible service.

I eat out 5 nights a week, and I dont think Ive EVER given a place one star. And this isnt from one experience, Ive eaten here several times. This is connected to the Westin Hotel, which in my opinion is the ONLY reason its in business, b/c theres nothing else in walking distance yet. First, the food here is terrible. No really. Its a running joke with all my co-workers how bad the food is here. So much so, that it actually hurts the Hotels reputation. Soggy Fish and Chips, butter soaked lobster rolls, flavorless everything. This morning I ordered a Bagel with eggs and Bacon. How hard is that? It took 23 minutes to get it, and it also was soaked in butter. And I didnt ask for butter on it. The place actually has a great vib, and beer selection. its not bad if you want to grab a drink or watch the game. Just eat before you get here.

I have to agree with a lot of the other reviews. Not too long after it opened, we dined here and it was very good (loved the chicken and waffles). Tonight, literally nothing on my plate was worth what I paid for it. The vegetables all tasted like charcoal. I couldnt even eat them. The fried chicken was tolerable, but the crust was overcooked. My wife got the steak... it was made edible by the supplied sauces (which were tasty), but was not seasoned on its own. The potatoes were soggy and suffered from the same "tastes like charcoal" problem that the other vegetables had. Maybe well try again someday, but, for a $75 meal, there are a LOT of places in town that wouldve been better tonight. This might be closer to a one star experience, but it gets two for the great beer selection.
