I had been to this restaurant before with my family and had a good experience, so I decided that this was the place I wanted to take my girlfriend to before I move away for my freshman year of college. Staff seemed friendly at first, and the food was absolutely amazing (was going to give 2 stars instead of 1 because of that, but what happened towards the end of the night ruined it for my date and I), but the service was just not there. Our waitress was no where to be found after she sat us down and got us drinks. We had got there around 7, and around 745 we were just about done, but the staff serving the rodizio had asked us if we had not gotten something on the menu, to which we replied yes, and that we would like to try the sirloin. For about 25 minutes, we watched every other table continue to be served as we sat there with no one even coming to ask us for anything. After everyone else had been finished at the restaurant, they stopped bringing out any food and that is when I just decided to get the bill. I had to basically yell across the restaurant for a man who was cleaning up to just get us our bill because no one had even come over to us for a half hour. I would love to recommend this restaurant because again the staff was very friendly, the restaurant has a nice romantic look to it, and we were having a great time, but unfortunately we werent even waited on for drinks and what happened at the end completely ruined our experience. I would have loved not to tip (maybe we didnt get service because they thought we didnt have a lot of money because we looked younger? who knows. But that is far from the truth!) but I worked in a restaurant and I understand that the staff makes a living off it. But it didnt keep me from writing on my check how the service was not great, and leaving a small amount. My advice: get a reservation early, because once they decide to stop making food I guess thats all you get.

I was very excited to find a Brazillian steakhouse in the area. A worker at the Everhart Museum had suggested it as a unique dining experience. I arrived to place my to-go order and waited till it was ready. That evening Brazil was playing Ivory Coast in the World Cup and there was a large party there with everyone wearing their teams jerseys. The Mixed Grille (Churrasco Mixto) was delicious, it consisted of pork, beef, sausage & chicken along with a small salad. It was around 18.00 and piping hot. We also ordered the feijoada which is a black bean stew with meat & veggies mixed together (15.00) Overall a great experience, Im a huge fan of Brazillian food, a la the Churasquerias in Northern Jersey. They have a all you can eat buffet (rodizio) in the evening. they accept VISA, mastercard and have a private parking lot on the side.

Ive been to many churrascarias ... especially some of the more well known ones... plataforma in nyc, fogo de chao. While the buffet part of it doesnt come close... im not here for the buffet. im here for the meats and I have to say that Ipanema Grilles rodizio... especially their bacon wrapped filet, their flank steak, their rib eye and their garlic sirlion are perhaps better than either plataformas or fogos. They are better prepared in terms of temperature. (I prefer a rarer steak... i always get only medium rare at the others. Here it is as rare as I ask). Compared to NYC or Philly, I think anyone would be quite amazed that you can find something of this quality in Scranton!

Ive been to Ipanema twice so far and the food was great both times. The first time I went, I took my kids and after some concerns that my "picky" kids wouldnt eat anything, I was happy to see them try almost every meat they brought out. I had to laugh when my son asked for all of the chicken hearts. He surprisingly tried everything and ate more then Ive ever seen him eat in a single sitting. He now refers to it as the meat train restaurant and is looking forward to going back. Personally, I thought all of the meats were great. My favorites were the garlic sirloin and the lamb. Im very happy with both experiences and cannot wait to go back.

Get the Rodizio! Experience the excitement of a true Southern Brazilian steakhouse called Churrasco, where more than 12 combinations of savory cuts of fire-roasted meat are presented on skewers and carved table side. This is an adventure in meat! You can get this buffet and meat meal for $26 and it is all you can eat. They come around with meat and cut you off a chunk. They had 12 different types of meat: chicken, ribs, sausage, rib eye, serloin, pork loin, turkey rapped in bacon, chicken hearts, and some other stuff i just ate it all!!! Man was it good! i ate for 2hrs and there was a group there that ate for 4!!! wear your sweat pants!

I absolutely LOVE this place. I have my birthday here every year for the past 3 going and I see no reason to stop. The staff are very courteous, kind, and easy going. The atmosphere is clean, upbeat, and warm. I have been there probably 30 times over the years and it never gets stale. Sangria is the drink of choice and by the pitcher. I should go on a Tuesday sometime to take advantage of the cheaper pitchers. One of my favorite parts of it, other than the skirt steak which sells itself, is the grilled pineapple. I leave feeling lightheaded and full of both food and good cheer. Thank you Ipanema for making my life more fulfilling.

Really cant describe the food, drinks, or total atmosphere in words Very unique and authentic. Run by a Brazilian family who seems to stay true to their heritage. Make reservations! We didnt but sat at the bar. The bartender was very informative and friendly, I would probably opt to sit there again due to her friendly and outgoing demeanor/personality (although all the employees seemed to be enjoying their jobs). Highly recommend! And yes I tried all the meats several times, each one would be awesome on their own, everything is that good! The chef is an artist. The caiprinas and sangria are worth coming for just by themselves!

Extremely similar to the ones Ive been to in Brazil. Im not a big red meat eater, but will make an exception here. Excellent service every time Ive been. A bit pricey, but if you take their rewards card, you eventually get a free meal which evens it out. A great place for business dinners, weve had parties of ten handled well. It is a bit on the small side, so I would probably make reservations on the weekend. Easily the best restaurant in Scranton, feels more like a New York-level experience. Try the Brazilian drink, I forget the name but its rum, sugar and something else I cant remember.

We visited last evening with our Brasilian friends. The food was delicious, the service impeccable, and our friends, Pedro and Amanda, had very happy (homesick) smiles. Our friends were so happy to converse with the wait staff in their native language and excited to have us try their culture. I think the best review would come from those who know the authentic tastes and there were thumbs up all around! We truly enjoyed the meal and the experience. Cant wait to return! Who knew, this gem was hiding, in of all places, north Scranton.
