The interesting thing about this place is how you walk in here and feel like you are transported back in time. It is an older bar that has been sitting on this spot for 80+ years. The bar is one of those classic bars with a wooden bar, a handful of booths and a simple, but effective main floor grill with daily specials and regular menu items. I love the type of grill they use as it adds a charcoal / smoky flavor (as opposed to a flattop grill), and every is made very simply, although maybe not always consistently. Their chicken sandwiches are great and flavorful, their burgers are good (not necessarily exceptional), and the fries and onion rings are OK, but not great (out of a bag, as most places use). For the most part it is your typical bar food, with some additional items thrown in and you can get a decent meal here. Ideally though Id come in here for a drink or two and have some snacks / appetizers, but in a pinch you can get a decent lunch in here served quick and to go if you cant stick around.

This place is may be one of the older bars in NYC and it definitely shows its age. It lacks a definitive style and coherent atmosphere. The kitchen is within the dining space, which for the most part, makes one believe that food is on the forefront of the experience, it is not. The appetizers that are offered, do not bode well for what entrees would be like. Service was bad and slow, even at a quiet time happy hour, the saving grace was the one male bartender committed to his craft. When looking at the environment, it lacks definition, cleanliness and any semblance of maintenance. Besides the one male bartender who was working hard, the other saving grace to this place is that the beer is cheap, lending this place to being more of a dive bar than a destination. I hope this was an off day and not a inherent problem for The White Horse Tavern.

I keep coming back here because Im a fan of its history more than anything else. I like to picture the place it used to be while Im there more than enjoy the place it currently is. Though, it is fun to spot to old timers / regulars and imagine what their stories about that place are. The most frustrating thing about White Horse is that its cash only. Just accept that thats how it is. Its not going to change anytime soon. Ive only been there for drinks (Ive only had beer, which is pretty standard in the selection), so I cant comment on the food / menu. My only suggestion for drinks is to stay with something basic and simple. No crazy cocktails / mixtures are going to be served up here.

Awesome, friendly, economical, and cozy. Food is good. Beer is cold. Pints of Yuengling for $3. Im from Texas, and Ive been coming here on business occasionally for years. The staff members always recognize me, call me by name, and remember my usual beer and dinner orders. Im here tonight, and when I walked in and sat down, the waitress came over, set a pint of Yuengling in front of me, and said, "You want fish and chips, like last time, or your usual cheeseburger?" And this is lower Manhattan! I love this place!

I think Ive found my new go to bar for this area. If you come to White Horse, DONT expect: -Great food (I had the fish tacos and it wasnt great but it was okay and enough to fill me up) -A super clean atmosphere (it is a dive bar after all) DO expect: -Fighting with flies for your food (I told you...its divy) -Cheap drinks. HH til 8 and I believe the Guinness is $5 all day! -Friendly service If you dont mind the negatives, then youll have a great time!

Its Chopt, it cant go wrong. Ive been to multiple Chopt locations - all very fast and friendly. With the generous portions, the prices are fair. I always get the Cobb salad with the vinaigrette dressing. I need to start trying new things but Im too scared that I wont like it. But Ill always be a fan of Chopt, no matter where I end up in the future.

I didnt stay here long. The bathroom is on the second floor and comically narrow. There is a long bar stretching the length of the bar with additional seating in the back. There appeared to be a kitchen on the bar floor along the narrow walkway to the back. They do take credit cards unlike the original location on Hudson Street. Would recommend.

Id suggest eating and drinking before you get here: this place is very expensive. The cheapest glass of wine at this place is $10, and the tap wine comes in a carafe thats about 3/4 of the size of a bottle. As a concert venue, it was great. But, I wasnt expecting to have to drop an extra $50 on a few glasses of wine for the two of us.

Forget the plush plastic imitations, the wannabe cool, the mock Irish. This is it. The best old style pub in the city. If you want a real pint, in a real pub with real people at real prices, this is the place for you. I mean it. New York used to have lots of real places, not anymore! As I said, this is it...

Inexpensive dive style bar with three levels. The food is very inexpensive by NY standards, a burger is only $6 and you get what you pay for. $4 drafts and $5 house liquor. Ive been quite a few times and the place is typically crowded and noisy. A place to go for a quick, inexpensive and standard drink.

Its just an amazing value for what you would typically pay in the financial district. And the The Battery Sandwich is out of this world. I would give 5 stars if they paid a little more attention and kept my beer glass full. But its a really great place.

Incredibly cheap beer at all hours on all days. $3 for the cheapest beer no matter when you come. The food is standard fare bar food. The atmosphere is always cheerful, its a great kind of relaxed bar to go to. They also have a jukebox, how fun is that?

Goose IPA for four bucks?! Count me in! Very friendly bartenders, met a new lawyer friend, and the nachos with guacamole is out of this world. If you work/live around the financial district, definitely spend a night out here. Absolutely amazing!

Quite a nice little place tucked in the neighborhood. Food is reasonable, service also. . Stop in for a beer at lunch, or after work. . Need a few minutes away?. Come on in. . Consistent product is appreciated. Happy Hour all day
