The space is beautiful. I had the grilled octopus and the hamachi tar tar with a glass of white wine. The food was incredible, the wine was delish. The only problem is the same typical problem that all New Yorkers are from some reason accustom to and that is lack of service. I sat at my table for a good 5 mins before anyone came over, the server walked past me at least 4 to 5 times before even saying he would be right there. Its as simple as just acknowledging someone that will put the guest at ease. I had to order right when I got the menu because I was not sure if he would be back. Once I got my wine he just said enjoy, nothing more not even offering to take a food order. A few mins later I had to flag him down to order. After that he was attentive but I hate having to pull teeth to get service. It was around 7pm and was not busy to the point that his service was justified. It really comes down to management and their ability to be on the floor and have good training program which they dont. This is not a negative review its a simply acute description of my experience. I will return and try more food with a lower service expectation till I see better. Side note; this was in the bar area not the dining room.

How lucky I am to have SoleLuna on the corner of my block. A warm, friendly, and calm atmosphere makes this restaurant a really nice neighborhood haunt. Both SoleLunas menu and dining area are small, but the quality of the food and the kind service more than make up for it. With jazz in the background, I enjoyed a starter of lightly fried rice balls with a garlic aioli for dipping, along with the requisite bread and olive oil. Definitely recommend. For main dishes, I had the spaghetti with clams and white wine sauce - perfectly al dengue, the claims juicy, and the sauce abundant but never overpowering. What was even better was another dish - essentially ravioli with a pear/cheese filling and a rosemary butter sauce. Absolutely delicious, and NOT something Ive seen in most Italian restaurants. The freshness of the ingredients and the understated elegance of the space itself make SoleLuna worth a visit to Sunnyside. Lucky to have it so close to me!

From the atmosphere to the service to the quality of the food it is top notch. Busy but relaxed, the crowd is varied with a lot of young professionals (consistent with the location) but thats at the bar. In the back, in what once was the lobby of the Endicott Hotel, it is a chill vibe, very airy and pleasant with soaring high ceiling. The staff is remarkably well-trained, incredibly familiar with every menu item, and its across the board. Everyone working there knows their food and drink. A real pleasure. The menu is relatively small but the food itself is incredible. The flavors are supreme with no one part of any dish over powering or too much. Its simply delicious the way the chef mixed complex layers of flavor into the dressings & sauces. Do not be in a rush when you come. You will want to savor the experience. It was memorably good and extremely delicious. Its like eating artistic cuisine if such a thing exists!

Unusual ambiance for the neighborhood - and its great! Im looking forward to going back and having a drink at the bar in front. The dining room has a large sky light that I imagine makes it beautiful during the day. I tried the hamachi, octopus and risotto and everything was delicious. The cocktail menu is really gin heavy - which I love. I had the Josephine and its wonderful and refreshing if you like strawberries.

Beautiful airy room. Not too noisy even tho full. Attentive service. Appealing menu. Reasonable NYC pricing... 4 stars b/c portions were so small. Octopus fantastic but two 4" pieces for $16? Hamachi appetizer, less than 1/2 cup for $16? Plus$2 for a martini cause it uses extra vodka? I had a crab special over pasta... I dont think there was 1 tablespoon of crab! But despite teeny portions, I would go back!

I had the crab benedict and my mom had the shrimp and grits. The mac and cheese was also amazing and the olives came with no cheese or bread. It was legit a bowl of olives with the pits still in. I wish this place had more veggie options. We couldnt get the shrimp and grits without bacon. We also got mimosas and bloody marys, multiple of both. They were yummy. Really good food and good service close to home.

Exquisite from start to end — hamachi tartare and asparagus with mushrooms are both superb. House-made pasta with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, and spicy peppers is bright and delicious. Pork chop is excellent. Even the warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream was perfection. Service was a touch off; hovered at the beginning and was MIA toward the end. The space is airy and gorgeous.

Dejlig restaurant, smukke omgivelser og skøn mad. Prøv andebrystet - det er helt fantastisk. Også den lille bar i "forhallen" er et besøg værd

This is my favorite restaurant in New York. Consistently high quality food. Well priced menu wine list. The space is awesome, with a great ambiance. Nice for Romantic dinner, groups, and perfect bar area in front to have a quick bite or hang out when waiting for rest of party. Definitely check it out, you wont be disappointed.

Stopped in here for a drink and appetizer at the bar. Fantastic beer and wine list and the cheese board was pretty large for the price (and for NYC). Really beautiful front bar area and the dining area was very nice as well. It has an upscale vibe but its not really pretentious. Nice bathroom, just watch that first step.

Such a beautiful restaurant! Our server was wonderful and the food was fantastic! My friend ordered the Risotto which was amazing. My boyfriend and I ordered the Pappardelle as a first course and the Cod dish as a second course - both were delicious. Also, the Rose was to dieeee for. I wish I asked the name of the bottle.

A great place to get your italian sandwich fix...and the sandwiches are huge enough for two people and will set you back about $8. They carry all the popular imports of Italy...refined olive oils and olive spreads, etc. They also have a great selection of fresh meats and sausages...way above any of the areas supermarkets.

Amazing atmosphere, seriously beautiful. Waitstaff was professional and really nice. Only one thing: the food wasnt quite worth the very high prices. I loved it, but the food wasnt unique, fresh, or beyond expectations to meet the very high price. Loved it, just maybe not quite special enough for the prices they demand.

This place is so beautiful! I had the "Calm Down Special" which was absolutely delicious along with the Braised Duck Pappardelle. My boyfriend had the Roast Farm Chicken, which had a nice, crispy texture on the outside and was very juicy on the inside. Very nice place to take your date to.

Probably one of the best places in the upper west. Very good choice of cocktails (ask about the one with the jalepeno ice cube). Food is delicious and the waiters are the best. They pay attention but not pushy at all. Got to stop here for a great dinner but make reservations!
