What a great brunch place! Its so easy to understand why its hard to get a reservation. A few points: -Make a reservation as early as possible. They have reservations for brunch up until roughly 2pm. However, be aware that the kitchen closes at 3 and bottomless sangria ends at 330pm for dinner prep. -I highly recommend sharing the Gallitos (I believe thats the spelling). Its so much food for such a reasonable price. And friend and I couldnt even finish ours. -Make sure to grab some complimentary pastries! Who doesnt love free, sweet carbs?

Horrendous! Shame to the name of Irish bar... our food arrived to the bar wrapped in tin foil which they didnt even try to hide from us.. they served me reheated chicken which wasnt reheated to the correct temperature .. sure who doesnt want food poisoning on their holidays...!? Chicken was just rubber and uneatable.. I asked the server flat out was this chicken reheated? The answer I got was... oh the foods from our sister bar... he knew rightly and couldnt give me a straight answer just passing blame! Massive let down!!

Best bar on the Upper West Side. Stands out starkly from all the other bars along blackout alley as less of a frat house and more of a neighborhood spot. Think less Jager and more Guinness, fewer popped collars and more regulars. The signature cocktails are fantastic, especially the Dead Poet cocktail. The burgers are delicious but the bacon cheeseburger and the Frikadelle burger both top the list. Oh, and the bartenders are the coolest of the cool. No better place to grab a drink in the 10024.

The best bar on the 81st street strip, the Dead Poet stands out from the predominant, fratty scene. You can get a great pour of Guinness, a well made drink, a good conversation with whoever is behind the bar, a book to read and a new friend - And thats just in the afternoon. At night, the bar can get a little cramped, but everyone is happy to squeeze out of the way for you. Great for catching up with friends or celebrating whatever it is you feel the need to celebrate this week.

Good neighborhood bar with a "divey" feel but super friendly bartenders and regulars. This is a Guinness bar but they have a few other beers on tap and also have a nice whiskey selection and a few potent cocktails. Only order the "dead poet" if you consider a long island ice tea to be light on alcohol. Drink enough Guinness and you can get your name on the wall. Free popcorn and decent bar food ordered from surrounding restaurants. Reasonable prices.

Limited amount of menus available, because they come inside vintage book covers. This doubles the time it takes to place an order. Chose a gin & tonic, 9/10ths of the glass was ice chips. For a 2nd round, asked for it to be easy on the ice, it came with 1/4 ice, which is a little more like it. Had a bite of my friends burger: overcooked. Fries were soggy. Both suggest food is frozen, which isnt unheard of at a bar, but some out there do it fresh

Readers digest: small, great beer selection, free popcorn, good cocktails. Picture yourself as a stereotypical writer. You drink, you brood, you drink some more. This place has a similar ambiance in that its dark, narrow, and almost a whole in the wall. Dont let that bring you down as you guzzle pints of Guinness and shovel in free popcorn. The atmosphere is more relaxed than surrounding bars and can be a great place to catch up with friends.

Gotta love a theme bar where the name is more than a gimmick. The Dead Poet serves up some mean cocktails, and the namesake drink is one to remember. The well-protected recipe manages to taste uncannily like a good grape juice and hits you like a Mack truck when you stop looking. Evenings are a great time to catch undergraduates attempt the foolhardy on Amsterdam Ave., adding to the whole atmosphere.

I heart the Poet. Friendly bartenders, very reasonably priced, the crowd is fantastic and the food isnt bad either. Order their signature Dead Poet drink and take the mason jar home with you! If your cell phone is dying and you think you have to leave, fear not! Ask nicely and theyll charge it for you behind the bar. Oh, and dont forget to have some of their free, freshly-popped popcorn.

Love the Poet. It gets pretty packed on the weekends or even during a game night, but it doesnt stop the bartender from being friendly and getting you a cold drink quickly. No judgments for poor decision shots, either, which is also good. The bathrooms are tiny and at the way back, so be ready to elbow your way through, though the crowd is very nice.

This is a very loud, very narrow bar and I came here for a friends birthday once. At night it gets really loud and crowded, but theres a jukebox and it can be lots of fun. Lots of really great comfort food and drinks. The service is great and theres a quick turn around. I would recommend it for small birthday gatherings.

Love the Dead Poet for casual gatherings with friends. Its not a huge space, but the drink specials are great and the food is pretty good too! I definitely recommend this place for Sunday football if you get there early enough to snag a seat at the bar -- or one of the tables in back to share with friends.

Long, thin bar that runs the length of the place. Bartenders are friendly and they give out free popcorn! We were there around dinner time and it was pretty packed but we didnt have to wait too long to be served. It was a fun atmosphere, highly recommend!

You have to have a Dead Poet if you come here. Its like the law. And youll get an awesome mason jar along with your accomplishment. It comes out looking like grape koolaid and tasting even better. Narrow bar with lots of personality. Fun bartenders.

Absolutely love this place. Its definitely a bit divey. The names of their cocktails are all of famous writers and poets which definitely gives this place personality. The beers are also really good - they have some mean Perfect Pint Guinnesses.

Bebidas ok, mas um lugar difícil para fazer amigos. O banheiro (ao menos o feminino) é muito sujo.

I came here with a lady friend for tequila and taco Tuesday. There are specials and a happy hour during the week. I had a tequila and a beer. There is a good selection of liquors and beers. There was upscale pub food on the menu.

Nice, small Irish pub. They have a good selection of Ale. Prices reasonable. Its a little bit noisy, but thats pub, it should be like that. If you are looking to kill some hour or two at night, I would recommend this pub.

Google suggested this as a top 5 bar in the UWS. Once again Google did not disappoint! Our server Alex was great, good drink selection and friendly/cozy atmosphere. Will definitely return!
