Located inside Ling Nam I came here for the star bread, which I completely neglected for years because I’d only come here late night when I was drunk. I’d actually hadn’t been here in the day time until recently and therefor wasn’t getting Star Bread. Daytime is when my sweet tooth is strongest. We came here solely for the Senorita bread which they bake to order. All these years I’d never noticed, but this place is popular, just look at the to go boxes stacked to the ceiling in the back. Protip: since they are made fresh, they come out hot, like wait 10 minutes before you open the box hot. This is the perfect thing to take home beucase it’s perfect upon arrival. I’ve burned my mouth half the time I get these because they are that good that maybe I don’t care. Cash only. The pan de sal is smaller than what I get back in Socal, which is nice, more along the size lines of PI. The hopia is dry. Senorita bread is basically pan de sal dough rolled and filled with butter, sugar and then dipped it’s bottom in honey. LEGIT. We’ve all dipped out pan de sal in chocolate milk as kids and smeared butter on it and topped with sugar and then toasted, but this is small, portable and next level. Simple yet refined, something we could all do at home bootlegged.

The Starbread (Senorita bread) is at the far end of the counter when you enter, but even though it is the smallest part of the counter, it does the lions share of the business here. The weekends are packed with people ordering Senorita Bread. They bake the bread fresh when you order it, you have to wait 6 minutes, but fresh, its a little bit of gooey, artery-clogging heaven.

Buttery Senorita bread is made hot to order and so addictive. Theyre about the size of 3 fingers and you cant stop at 1. And theyre affordable. I occasionally pick up a box of 50 for $20 to share at work. And the Lingnam counter next to the Starbread counter has hard to find homemade chicharrones made with chicken skin.
