I am re-posting my review from yelp here: Zero star!!! Received a flier in the mail a couple of months ago, & since I usually travel to Chicago for Chinese hot pot & shabu shabu, I thought I would give this place a try since I live nearby & Milwaukee doesnt really have a full Chinese hot pot buffet restaurant, but what a HORRIBLE mistake & NIGHTMARE. We came in on Sunday 4/3/16 around 3:30pm wanting to try the all you can eat twin hot pot buffet (sadly last minute decision for my birthday) & when I walked in, it was like a Chinese HORROR movie! There was nobody inside, no customer & not one employee in sight. The place was dim with little lighting or natural light and it looked very poorly & cheaply decorated & set up. There was a row of booths and a few tables. It looked like nobody had eaten there ever and there was no smell or aroma of food cooking at all. In fact, it smelled old & moldy. I had to yell hello and ask if anyone was here...all that should have been a first sign. One of the employee finally came out after five minutes and she was Hispanic girl and looked like a teenager with glasses and was super clueless. I came with my sister & her husband so there was three of us & asked her about the hot pot. She then handed me the same flier I received in the mail as a menu. My sister & her husband went to use the bathroom and told me it smelled like fishes. The first booth I sat in the table was wobbly so I had to moved. As we were looking over the menu we asked the girl (waitress) if we order the lobster hot pot, do we each get one lobster per person and how big the lobster was (was it a whole lobster or just the tail)? She was so clueless that it seemed like nobody ever ordered it before or she never seen the food before. She went to the back kitchen to ask someone and came back and said it was a small little lobster, & we were like there is no way we all paying $10 more per person to get something that small. We told her we will just get the $21.99 hot pot per person (that is the middle price) because the price range from $18.99, $21.99 or $29.99 which the highest include the lobster per person, or so it said on the menu. She then went to the back for like a good 10 minutes and came back with the paper flier menu and told us that everything that is marked with a "x" are items they dont have and they only have the items that are checked off. We looked at it and realized that half of the items on there list was not even available, which are 80 percent of the vegetables. They didnt have any bakchoy, spinach, mushrooms, pea shoots, cauliflower, cilantro, etc. the only had meat. My sister was so upset she wanted to leave and I felt the same way too. Why would we pay that middle price for only 1/2 of the menu??? Maybe that was a blessing in disguise because we told her we changed our mind and wanted to leave and go somewhere else. How does a Chinese restaurant cook without half their ingredients??? It makes no sense but we felt we just wasted our time. We spent close to 30 minutes in that horrible disgusting place! We will never ever go back and yelper please beware. We should have read the reviews first, although there isnt much. Im surprise that there is a Vietnamese grocery store right next door & they couldnt get any ingredients. Also it is the closest Chinese restaurant by St. Luke hospital and they have no customers??? There is seriously something wrong with this place and I have feeling it will shut down soon. The girl looked relieved when we left, I guess because we knew more than her. Smh!

China House has been on the south side of Milwaukee for decades. It is a bit unusual in that it serves both Chinese and Japanese cuisine. You can dine in, take out or have it delivered. The Chinese dishes have a more modern take on the food - one person described it as sparkly. I have not tried the Japanese food (I was not fond of the taste even when I lived in Japan.) Parking is available in the rear of the restaurant. The place is handicap accessible.

THE WORST food I have ever tasted in my entire life $60 down the drain waited for 2 hours for delivery The Hibachi dinner was not even a real Hibachi dinner they combined the rice in the dinners, also they use fake crab meat, all the rice in the rolls were really pasty n now Im listening to my boyfriend complain n complain about the waste of money n also the worrying part of " are we going to get sick??? DO NOT EAT HERE OR ORDER FROM THE CHINA HOUSE

We went to eat here about 4-5 months ago. I did not care for it. My husband liked it because they served sushi. We just had delivery today. The shrimp with lobster sauce was in a broth- not a gravy. I saved the shrimp. The egg rolls and egg foo young were ok. My husband said the sushi was mainly rice. He apologized for wasting our money. Not going to do business with them again,

Unremarkable and not cheap. The chicken and beef have no taste. They serve the food with a lot of onions and no vegetables to speak of. The white rice, the noodles and the fortune cookies are good. The egg rolls, the soup and the food are a waste of time and money. Find somewhere else to get food. I know that I will.

OMG, Me and my brother really had to try and figure out what pieces of chicken we had. All Im saying is we both were trying to convince ourselves that it was chicken. The fortune cookies were stale, smh. The only positive is that we did NOT get sick. I will never eat here again

I wouldnt recommend this place. While they have some tables, they clearly dont really expect anyone to eat there (based on service and lack of place settings - our soup was served in a plastic to-go container). Much of the food had a disturbing off-taste.
