Ive given this place far too many chances and yet they continue to unimpressed at every chance. The final time was tonight, in where I ordered 2 burgers, fries, a fish fry, and 2 ice creams. Order was taken at 8:47 according to the ticket. After about 10 minutes, number was called and handed the order, well, not all the order. The Ice creams (Banana Split + Cashew craze) were missing. The gentleman that handed over the food and quickly walked away without as much as a slight check to see if everything was there. Only after calling him back did he take even a moment to confirm the order. He then apologized and went off to what I assume was either locate the ice creams or have them made. Another 5 minutes pass, my food still sitting on the counter and I watch as a couple who walked in very shortly before receiving my food, walked out with their Banana Split, Cashew Craze, and multiple ice cream cones. After a total of 20 minutes have passed, I finally was handed my ice creams, lets make a note that it did not get walked over from where the rest of the ice cream was located, it was somewhere else. A complaint to the "Manager" was met with a "Would you like me to remake the food sir?" After passed issues with food being wrong and typically being disappointed with quality. I passed on that offer since I did not want to wait another 10 minutes while now my ice creams sat on the counter. On to the food. The fries: $2.00 for this? WHAT? The soggy bag of potato slop I think may give Mc Ds small a run for size. This was simply pathetic. Island Burger: (No Pickles) Can you guess whats coming here? Of course, pickle must be shorthand for tomato according to the cooks. got no tomato and full of pickles Wasted $4.50, had to be tossed. Patty melt: This one was for myself, Like the fries, just a soggy mess. The bread had no toast to it what so ever, it was just rye bread, that is it. Has more of dripped in butter feel and taste then actually grilled back on the skillet. Stick to a Mushroom Swiss burger, you might not be as disappointed. Made it half way through before I couldnt deal with the soggy butter taste. And the Fish Fry: Well, this one was taken out of the room before I could even see it. However, Ill say that it was touted as "Very Good." Perhaps they can get something right among the mistakes. The ice creams. It was a whole balmy 55 or so degrees, one of those hot Wisconsin nights. After a 2 minute drive home, I looked to my seats only to see the ice cream bag wet. Im sure this is a good thing! Not much to my surprise, it would appear that the lid was not set on the banana split and was leaking all over. My guess is that they mistakenly thought my ice creams was for drive through and they sat over by the window for a good 5-10 minutes before they were handed to me, thus on how it was a mess within a short drive. I suppose I can take blame for the ice cream, I should have known better other then to glance inside the bag when they were handed to me. Perhaps then I would have noticed that beneath the toppings that it was a melted mess of what was once ice cream. Big Deal Burgers needs to take a step back and rethink the name in my opinion. I could be wrong, the burger itself might be good, but it is hard to tell among the soggy bun and flash cooked toppings they add to it. There are far better options in the Milwaukee area for a butter burger. I suggest taking the extra travel distance if you crave a quality butter burger.

This is one of my fave stops around the area to take the kids. The service is fast and friendly both in the drive thru and inside. The prices are reasonable and you get a ton of food. Their Italian beef is just right - juicy, flavorful, and the bun is slightly crispy and buttery. I like that they offer it with au jus on the side, especially when I pick up. The gyros are also phenomenal, as is their grilled cheese. Fries are always hot and cooked perfectly. Not sure if they fry them twice or what, but the flavor is amazing and they are never soggy. The fish fry is decent...beer battered, large portions, but could use a little more salt. The custard is good as well, easily on par with other Wisconsin hot spots like Kopps or Culvers. We visit this place quite frequently and have never been disappointed.

Been here twice now. Place is just like Kopps, but better in my opinion. The food is fresh and tastes great. Ive had a regular cheeseburger with just guacamole and it was fantastic the first time. Decent amount of guacamole too! Not a thin ass skimpy spread! The second time I had the mushroom n Swiss. Again, great burger! I like that they arent greasy to the point where you feel like youre gonna have a heart attack half way thru. Kopps is notorious for this... Also, the fries are AMAZING! A perfect crispness to them every time. Nice and soft and potatoey on the inside! This place may just be my go-to burger joint from now on!

Went to Big Deal for a burger (I had heard how great they are), but saw a server walk by with one of their Friday fish fry plates. It looked so awesome I said, "Im getting one of those!" Fish was crispy and golden, and on the inside tender and juicy. So good! Their fries have that special coating that makes them crispier. Perfectly fried and delicious! The cole slaw was great too. Has craisins in it, but they didn t taste strong, just a hint of cranberry. I still want to go back for a burger though...

Weve visited this restaurant in several of its many forms as its changed names and owners over the years. Some versions have been better than others. One thing we really enjoy at Big Deal currently is the custard. It definitely ranked in the upper tier of Milwaukee Custard (a very special category!) in terms of taste, firmness and freshness. The chocolate raspberry needed a bit more fruit, but overall each of the flavors we tried was very good. We hope this version will stick around a while!

Very comparable to the Culvers franchise. I would say they had better (and bigger!) burgers and fries, but lacked in frozen custard specialty menu items. The flavors of the day were great (Brandy old fashioned was one of the two... Can you get more Wisconsin than that?!?), but outside of shakes, malts and sundaes there were no other ordering options as far as frozen custard goes. I would definitely go there again because the food was great!

The fries are amazing. The burger was decent, but there are other much better (and cheaper or similar) places than here. Bun was super lightly grilled (wasnt done long enough) so the bottom bun got pretty soggy quick. Soda fountain was low on syrup so everything tasted like soda water, but they do have Sprecher rootbeer in bottles available. The vanilla custard was tasty, would rank it the same as KOPPs (better than Culvers).
