Friday night We ate at Brocach in Madison. The meal was a poor excuse for Irish let alone good food. It started off with the offering of "Lipton" tea, not Berrys or even Twining Tea. Two things, Lipton is cheap American tea and secondly the amount of tea in a tea bag from Across the pond is twice what is put in a Lipton tea bag. I ordered a Reuben and K ordered the beef pot pie, both became laughable. A Reuben sandwich requires a form of meat. They sell an 8oz burger so one might expect something more than 1oz of top fat and edge cut corn-beef. Oh ya, and as I recall a Reuben has Swiss cheese on it, not the case last night. Ks pot pie was almost as cut. I sheet of puff pastry over some shredded beef and more "large" cut veggies than beef. Frankly the meal was a joke and GREATLY OVER PRICED.

We heard good things, drove 140 miles round trip to get there, we had reservations , sat us at a table facing the bathroom wall. They had a problem day ,a group upstairs so kitchen was running slow, then the orders were all lost, they ran out of biscuits, so one changed order to 3 large heavy pancakes, with tiny cups of syrup.......ok but, 2 had eggs benedict, , mine was mushy, crab patty was smeared on like peanut butter, one egg hard one soft, and that 1/2 teaspoon hollandaise, almost could be tasted or seen, and my fried potatoes Im sure were from the french fryer.....In the end they gave us the meal for free.......we love going out to eat, too bad they had a bad day .waitress was so hurried, we had no idea what she said most of the time.......

Slow, unfriendly service. Drinks are not made consistently. Waited 20 mins for one old fashioned. Another 30 mins for a round of shots. While waiting for the shots, I went to the bar to get another old fashioned, since our server was no where to be found. The two behind the bar did not smile once. One was waiting for a woman to choose a beer I was standing next to, I think I saw him sigh & roll his eyes 3 times as she asked for beer they were out of, or no longer carried. I overheard him say that the menu wasnt up to date, but never once did he suggest a certain beer to her to make the process go quicker. Not very helpful... I dont make it downtown often, but the next time I do, this will most likely not be one of our stops.

My first experience at Brocarch was not a good one due to being seated at a table, then no one even asking for my order or bringing me a glass of water for the over half hour I waited before leaving. The owner contacted me to talk about that experience and sent me a gift card. So, I gave it another shot. I visited Brocach over lunch. The place looked clean and nice. The staff was very pleasant and prompt. I was able to order quickly and the food arrived within about 10-15 minutes. I was in and out in less than 35 minutes. The food tasted pretty good. I was told the beef is grass feed/grain finished. A much better experience than last time.

We hosted a very informal party here for our anniversary this past weekend, and I cant say enough good things about our experience. The manager, Marcos, was beyond gracious and helpful in arranging things via email, even though we had a relatively small group of just 12 people and paid nothing to reserve the space. He really was exceptionally responsive and just plain nice. We ordered a few appetizers off the party menu ahead of time, and they were all very tasty. Guests especially gobbled up the pretzel bread and warm cheese dip. Our server didnt miss a beat, kept everyones glasses full and everyones drink tabs in order. A great time was had by all!

The food is always serviceable, the service is generally good, and one of my favorite drinks can be found here. Although its not an Irish concoction, Brocach serves something called the Stoli Doli. Basically its a martini made from vodka which has pineapple soaking in it all day. I was a patron of Capital Grill in Washington, DC - home of the original Stoli Doli. I like to hit Brocach occasionally when I am feeling nostalgic for my time there. Brocach can be a little cramped, but usually its a good time. Ive certainly enjoyed myself at the various private events Ive attended upstairs.

Hosted a bachelorette party of 15 here this past weekend. Organizing with the Manager, Marcos, was a breeze. He was so friendly and accommodating - he even made up a special menu that stated the name of the group and event. Its amazing that we could reserve a group space for free. The bride is not a real picky person, but commented on how great everything was. Although she ordered the Reuben, she wished she would have ordered the Mac N Cheese. Drinks were great and server was attentive. Definitely recommend for any group looking for a great atmosphere at very reasonable prices.

Terrible service, dish washer detergent in my scotch and line cleaner in some of the beer. The place was busy, but not even remotely packed, and they had plenty of staff on hand to manage to crowd, but it still took 15-20 minutes to get our first round of drinks, one of which was the aformentioned detergent scotch. I sent the scotch back, only to wait at least another 10 min to get a replacement. Later, one of the beers clearly had line cleaner in it, to which the waoter replied "Thats just how it tastes. Its the worst beer Ive ever had."

Usually a great place. Just NEVER order the Vegetable Coconut Curry. Listed on the menu as a dish with root vegetables. Comes with summer squash, zucchini, red peppers, and oh yes, one root vegetable - onion. Not a good vegetable combination with coconut curry -- watered down. And when the wait staff asked the chef why the menu states one thing and the dish comes with completely different vegetables, the wait staff was told "I dont make the menu". And, no solution for the mistake -- not the usual fare that this restaurant is known for.

I really really enjoy this bar. They have quite the selection of spirits and beers and their food is absolutely delicious. For the food I had a variation of a BLT and it was absolutely delicious. This bar also offers quite a special some nights. I dont remember which night I was there but for only $5 you could order a pint of Guinness and a shot of whiskey. Dangerous and wonderful! I know that they often have Irish band frequent the bar to play, which is pleasant. I highly recommend this place.

We came in during the farmers market to see the new look after the remodel. The bartender was friendly but seemed unprepared for customers. Ordered some bloody marys off of the menu but the ingredients didnt match what was listed. The staff hunkered down at the other end of the empty bar, and we had to flag them down to get waters and the bill. The bloody marys were tasty though and the new look is clean but doesnt exactly scream irish pub.

Had the pleasure of working with Marcos last week, as he assisted me in planning a surprise party for my lovely lady. Not only were arrangements made quickly and discreetly, but the private venue was perfect for our group of 16, the food and drink service were delicious and prompt, and overall the night was perfect. Bravo, we even returned the next day for their all-you-can-eat brunch, which was splendid. Very, very pleased.
