I attended the local La Crosse Soup monthly event, which consists of people from the La Crosse area intent on doing good and making La Crosse a better place for all. It is a wonderful event and other major cities in the U.S. are looking to La Crosse as a role model for improving their cities and getting more community involvement. Sadly, just as last nights event got underway, we were all informed that Management from the Boot Hill Pub was planning to tow all of our vehicles for parking in the parking lot next to the building. It was a rainy and cold Wednesday night. Our event would normally last about an hour and it was a special Soup as the Pitches of Goodness were going to be all created and presented by students from UW-L. So, back down the flights of stairs we trudged to our cars in the cold rain, because you see, we care. As mad as it made us to be treated poorly by the Boot Hill Pub, we are Do Gooders. We try to do the right thing. Sad that as so much of our community is getting involved to Do Good, we run into this curmudgeonly, Archie Bunker attitude from the Boot Hill Pub. They have lost me as a customer FOREVER and I imagine I am not the only one.

Food tasted good. Portions were generous. Love the option of sweet potato fries. Prices were lower than we expected!! The Soup/salad bar needs to be moved off of the main traffic area - recommend closer to the kitchen for easier staff access. The service was erratic and dis-interested. Not playing their "A" game - especially for an expectedly busy Friday night - and we were there early! Soup tasted exceptional but with the serve yourself option, the tureen of the popular turkey-wild rice soup (soup of the day) was empty for over 30 minutes before it was removed to be refilled. Server did not check on us as we started the meal. It took over 10 minutes to process the charge for the meal. Love the place and the food - work on how you engage with your customers.

Called here to place an order for pick-up on a Saturday night. They said it would be ready in 15 minutes. Got there, they had maybe 10 patrons, didnt seem very busy. I let the bartender know I placed an order for pick up about 15 minutes ago. She inquired about my order in back and said it wasnt quite ready but I could pay for it. I paid, then proceeded to wait 25 minutes for my food. Got home, food was bland, luke warm and average at best. Was very excited about trying their food after reading their menu, but I was quite disappointed. I will not be eating here again.

Ive been here several times for drinks and food. The place itself is in an odd location. You best keep your eyes open when driving to it. The last meal I had there was a ribeye steak and au gratin potatoes. The cut of meat was terrible. Fat made up 30% of the steak. The au gratin potatoes were actually under-cooked, sliced potatoes covered in liquid process cheese sauce. They were terrible, especially as they cooled off and the cheese became hard. On a positive note, they have musicians playing often.

So many better restaurants in lacrosse. Horrible service, food was bland. Pattymelt was cold and bread was soggy. Server after 25 minutes came back to "check" on us , and did not even care about the bad food. Dont waste your time going here, this place has gone down hill.

Great restaurant that does not get nearly enough recognition. They have awesome food and great service. The atmosphere that is there is unlike anything else in La Crosse with their patio.
