Just got done reading JBrowns "review" of the Mediterranean Cafe. Ive been a loyal customer since the place opened. I love the pasta dishes. My kids like the childrens menu. We all love the choices in portion sizes, the plentiful appetizer dish and the fantastic atmosphere! Take a peek behind the curtain to see where the magic happens. There you will find gloved hands, hair nets on heads, clean floors, counters and cooking items, etc... What you will not find is a massive amount of space or a dozen workers, which is perhaps what this reviewer has come to expect from places like, say, IHOP. No, the Mediterranean Cafe is not a faceless giant food chain. Its a small, family owned and run restaurant. The kind you would have found in the days before Walmart and McDonalds took over our down towns. The kind where you can come inside and be greeted by name by your third visit. If the prices seem high, remember that you are paying for food being cooked by the guy who made the recipe, and not some teen who emptied a frozen box onto the counter and nuked it till it looked done. Youre also paying for the rent a place like that gets charged, the cost of ingredients that are bought from the local grocery stores and farmers market and the hard work and effort of the family that bust their behinds day in and day out to keep a place like that running. These are things we WANT to pay for! Otherwise charming restaurants like this and many others will get wiped out, and the downtown will be a sad and lonely place to be. Please, give the place a try! If you think a dish could be better, let the owner know! Hell remember, and do his best to make you happy the next time you come around!

This is definitely the most "authentic" restaurant Ive ever had the pleasure of dining in. The atmosphere is a welcome change from the daily norm and other over-decorated "specialty" restaurants. The second you step in from the street, its as if youve ducked in from the hustle and bustle of the bazaar, into a hidden retreat. While small, compared to some of the other worthy establishments in the area, the hospitality of the chefs and hosts make you feel as if youd been a regular since opening day. What the size is lost in the buildings "coziness and intimacy", is more than made up for in the enormous wallop of flavor that the skilled chefs manage to pack into every bite. From the appetizers, through the main course and delving into the desert; Ive never been so satisfied on this side of the Atlantic (especially in the West Virginia panhandle). The price is consistent with the typical "downtown" fare: a conservative dinner for two can be managed at around $30. Some may consider this high given the ease of access to some of the more common, franchised eateries within a mile or two, but the difference in quality is almost incomparable. The only downside I could think of when writing the review was the limitation of parking (being on the main drag of a "main street town" can definitely have its setbacks). But if your willing to hoof the half block (which is notably less after the local businesses and offices close), I can foresee no better way to share an evening with friends, that special someone, or even the whole family.

My wife and I with our son arrived here around 7pm. The place was very busy because of a large party but it only took like a 5 minute wait for us to be seated. Unfortunately they totally forgot about us. I went back up to the counter and one of the servers noticed me and asked if anybody has help us. I said "no". She apologized and told me she would be right there. When she came by she apologized again and offered us a free appetizer and a free desert. It took a little while to get our food since it was busy but everything was very tasty. My wife ordered the seafood soup which came out really salty but they remade it for us. Even though the dinner started off poorly they made it up to us. Everyone makes mistake but not many places does what this place did for us. We will be stopping by here next time we are in the area.

Going to the Mediterranean Cafe is a favorite dining destination for our family. The atmosphere is friendly and unpretentious. Youll find great eats for reasonable prices. Their hummus is made in house and is delicious. I have heard some people that previously did not like hummus say that theirs is excellent. Their Persian kabobs are tender and very filling and portion sizes are generous. Also, Vegetarians will enjoy their menu selections tailored to their diet. I have been a customer for several years and I am never disappointed. Theyve gotten great reviews from others as well as Trip Advisor, so you will highly satisfied. Tonights meal for my family and friend was excellent and the dishes were cooked to perfection. From a loyal local, long-time customer and foodie.

I had to make an account just to review this place. I came here when it first opened up and it was ok. Then finally we came back and it beat any expectations I could ever have. I and someone else ordered the menu item where they decide your appetiser, main meal, and dessert. All of it was amazing and was probably the best meal of my life. As an appetiser we had shrimp, an odd cheese and tomatoes. Which may sound disgusting, but it was spectacular. The main meal was cooked noodles, rice, salad, steak, chicken, and lamb. This was great as well. The one tip Ill give is if you decides to get what we got which I think is the "family platter" make sure you have at least three people as it is a lot of food.

Went out to Mediterranean Cafe for dinner one night. I had the salmon kabobs with rice. The restaurant is nice and small, and had a musician there (Joe Ham) that played and sang well. The meals are somewhat pricey so I wouldnt make this a place I would frequent very often. The salmon kabobs tasted good, but didnt have the spices I was expecting for an establishment called Mediterranean Cafe. It was a bit of a wait to get our orders in, but we got our meal in a decent amount of time and was quick to give my husband a refill. Please take note on the menu it states ONE refill, so its not an endless amount of refills you will get here.

As the other reviews state, an excellent place in all areas to evaluate! Even the live music on a Thursday night was notable -- acoustic guitar with interesting interpretations of classic pop hits -- un miked with a nice addition to the atmosphere! The food is terrific and authentic. We tried the combination meal for 2 or more for $20 each -- this included a complimentary appetizer, a second appetizer, a non alcoholic drink, a dessert, and a main dish that was to die for!!! 2 people will not be able to finish this meal no matter how hungry you are!!! Just amazing food with excellent service!!!

Sat in the back corner booth. Cushions were super cozy! We sat there and hung out for awhile so that was a big plus. We had the baba ganoush and it was fantastic. Hummus platter was also delicious. Got the lamb kabobs, super tender. We also had the ensalada ibiza which was tasty but had a few too many walnuts for my liking. We decided to try the Turkish coffee, which was way too strong for us but Im sure if you aren into that it would be good. Came out in the cutest little cup.
