We happened upon the Kitchen the week that it opened and we were blown away by this place. Having grown up here, its great to see a restaurant thats looking to provide some variety in the available cuisine, but staying true to the area theyre in. The revamped building is, in a word - Lovely. The wood throughout gives a warm and rustic vibe thats complimented nicely by the open concept in the dining room and kitchen. The windows are great giving ample natural light and the doors are incredibly impressive! Seating options included plenty of large booths, floor space and seats at a rather impressive bar. My favorite part though was the outdoor space with the brick patio that was made from reclaimed bricks from a local school that was recently renovated - a very nice touch. We came over for lunch and were really impressed with what we found. We started with the deviled egg which were solid. The bacon was legit BACON and added some great flavor. My better half had the Banh Mi Sandwich - ORDER THE BANH MI SANDWICH! Outside of places where you wonder if youre being served a domestic friend (read cat), this was one of the better sandwiches weve had in a long time. The pork belly was perfect and the sandwich dressed up just right with fixins. Seriously, order this sandwich - youll find yourself chewing longer because its so good. I had the prime rib dip and it too was excellent! The horseradish sauce gave it the right amount of kick and it was good size. My mother who also graced us had a rotisserie chicken salad and they made that lettuce patch up right. It wasnt so much a salad as a symphony of toppings with a lettuce bed. It was what you hope your salad will be, but rarely is! The fries are British pub style and more akin to potato straws. Different, but fun! Tip on eating them, take a small bunch and hold them so they look like a bundle of wheat prior to dipping/consuming them. Its more efficient and way less messy! Perhaps the most surprising (in a good way) part of the meal was the kids meal. Our little dude is true northwesterner as he loves him some salmon. The childrens salmon came with a good piece of fish, veggies, fruit and thin-cut frieds. Straight up, it was the nicest kids meal Ive ever seen and presented in a really nice fashion. It was so nice we asked if it was a mistake at first and then chatted with them about how cool it was. The owners wife felt the kids menu needed to be something that was outside the norm and memorable - check and check! At the end of the day, a restaurant like this is what the valley desperately needed and, I hope, will continue to foster. The guys here are thoughtful of the decor, the layout, the ambiance and the food and, in my opinion, are serving up not just great food, but a great dining experience. Were excited to go back the next time were in the area and look forward to seeing what they have in store in the future.

Ive had many meals at Cowiche Canyon, most of them business lunches and a number of family dinners. The food is excellent and quantities are usually more than sufficient for the price charged. Im especially fond of the crispy chicken sandwich. Not only is the chicken moist and flavorful, but the rest of the sandwich is excellent also. All bread served in sandwiches is made in house. Their signature fries are of the shoestring variety and finished with a sprinkling of salt and rosemary. The menu is somewhat seasonal with dishes changing with the seasons. Certain items have remained on the menu since opening, such as the crispy chicken sandwich and their most excellent cheeseburger, but other additions have come and stayed, like the International Harvester burger, which is a distinct variation on their standard cheeseburger. Main dishes more appropriate for dinner include seasonal pastas, a couple of different steak dishes and a number of fish or chicken dishes. The meal sized salads are also all wonderful. This is not an inexpensive place to eat, but you are rewarded with freshly prepared food that is consistent from visit to visit.

This place ROCKS! Cowiche canyon is exactly the type of place that Yakima needs! On a recent date night with my wife, we chose to come out here for some dinner. If you are going to get an appetizer I would recommend anything except for the pimento. Even as a huge cheese fan I find this appetizer just ok. I have a hard time ordering anything other than the chicken sandwich which is absolutely incredible! Perfectly Fried Chicken on a homemade bun....I usually put a little bit of ranch on it and this is a hard sandwich to beat! Another plus is that its only about $13. It also comes with shoestring fries which are great! My wife had the steak salad, which was great! It comes with a good sized portion of steak on top thats cooked to order. It was a huge portion and she definitely didnt finish it. It also had some great toppings on it and was a fantastic entree salad! If youve got one meal to eat in Yakima, make It Cowiche Canyon! You wont be disappointed!

Located in the center of downtown Yakima, Cowiche Canyon is a casual, well-priced, busy restaurant with a modern decor & menu. If you are from the Seattle area, think of the Joey restaurants and you will have a sense of the atmosphere. Service is friendly, efficient and extremely knowledgeable - I was impressed. The food is excellent here. Our party of 11 managed to sample many things on the menu. Everyone was delighted with their food...not just "satisfied". My corn, shrimp and avocado salad was huge (about 8 large shrimp) and well-constructed, well-dressed...it was also very well priced at about $12. Bites of the burgers, steak and pastas were all fantastic and equally large. You cannot go wrong here. The full bar is hopping with hip patrons and the bartenders can whip up most anything you want. Good beers on tap and lots of whiskey options - thats my kind of place! Just be prepared for a crowd - this place deserves its loyal following!

Atmosphere is very enjoyable. Being from out of town I look forward to coming here for dinner. HOWEVER, the food was particularly pedestrian tonight and seemed to be put thrown together in its presentation. I dont know if there was considerable thought to taste either... Im referring to the seared halibut$$$ The bread I asked for was burnt on the bottom, something that Im not necessarily fond of but, dealt with because I was hungry. The meal was promptly served which was impressive. The wine looked to be a short pour. The hostess seemed annoyed that I wanted to sit in a booth rather than eat at one of the two bars. The waiter was really nothing more than an order taker rather than some one that appreciates a person for coming in a patronizing the restaurant. Lackluster and uneventful..I will only get a hamburger next time or look somewhere else to eat. Sub-par tonight maybe youll have better success.

Mixed bag, a little success and a lot of failure. The menu was wrong, the fish dish was totally different than what was listed, either reprint the menu or scratch out the dish you dont have anymore. We settled on a French Fry appetizer which was good and "Made to Order Guacamole", we didnt get it as ordered, try #2 was delicious. We then watched half of our food order sit under the lamps in the window for at least 15 minutes. The whole time the kitchen kept moving it around, obviously waiting on more food that either someone else took or the kitchen didnt make. When we finally got our meals nothing was great, the chicken was bland, dry and tiny, the fish was weird and had bones still in it, and the burgers were cold and had to be re-made. Definitely not an experience that reflects the crowd of patrons and the line at the door. Very expensive not worth it.
