This is without a doubt one of the best Indian restaurants in the entire Seattle/Tacoma area. Yes, in Puyallup of all places?? How can that be? The people who run the place are a very friendly Punjabi family and they put a lot of effort into their food. I am very picky about my Indian food and if it taste like Americanized or mass-produced garbage I am quick to know it and tempted to write nasty reviews about the place. Now this place is a precious gem lying on the base of our very own version of Mt Everest (Mt Rainier). The spices are spectacular and range of options are vast. Despite being Punjabi, they offer a variety of cuisines from various parts of India, but most dishes still seem to end up with the Punjabi spice profile, which I will say is my favorite. They seem to offer different types of dishes ranging from Coconut-based to Vegetable-based. They even offer Chicken Goa (if I remember correctly), a dish I rarely can find anywhere. The portions are a decent size and prices are quite cheap compare to what you will find in Seattle. Seriously, the Indian restaurants in Seattle are grossly overpriced for very low-grade Indian food that most Indian people themselves would not eat! There is no such thing as a cheap Indian restaurant, but you leave this place satisfied! Ahhhh.. I can still remember the beautiful fresh spice mixes in my lamb dish even as I write the review. The lamb was tender, spicy, sweet and juicy. I am looking forward to coming back for more when I go through Puyallup again.

Meh. Staff clearly wanted to be somewhere else, squashed my enthusiasm when I said it was my first (eagerly anticipated) visit. I didnt expect him to levitate, or change color or anything, but the stonefaced deadpan stare was... unexpected. Maybe hed just gotten some bad news or something, but i felt we were intruding upon his time. Fast enough, brought beverages & took orders promptly. CTM, Chicken Korma, Curry Chicken all underseasoned, very 2-dimensional flavors. Not awful by any means, but needed something to punch it up. An acid would help, maybe more tomato paste. Presentation was good. Nice decor, quiet although there was a number of other diners, it seemed quite clean and had a comfortable booth. Prices not too bad. I think Ill pass on a return trip, though. Maybe Im just too accustomed to my regular places style - or maybe it was just an off night - so you may still want to give them a try, at least. **Day 2 update: mixed leftovers of all 3 dishes, better now. Not terrific, but has a bit more depth. Maybe its like chili or spaghetti sauce, and gets better as it matures.

While visiting Seattle from Austin, I had a day off and I decided to re-visit Mt. Rainier. On way back, I stopped at Karma (in Puyallup I think? I just googled Indian restaurant), I remember I had stopped here last year and food was amazing. I arrived 15 minutes after closing time, and it was Mothers day. I requested the person (later found out he was the owner) to please give me a carry out. Once I told him I was from Austin, he asked me if I wanted veg or nonveg, and that was all. he got his kitchen staff, who was already off duty to make the most amazing paneer dish (Paneer Pasanda), and aloo paratha, nicely packed rice and chopped onions and chilli (without asking). And HE DID NOT CHARGE ME!!!!! I am so impressed with both the quality of food and the amazing customer service/courtesy. If you are driving to Mt. Rainier area from Seattle, do not miss going to this place for the most amazing and authentic Indian food.

Update: Weekday lunch special is a ton of great food for a good price. We had chicken curry and it was excellent, with tasty veggies and rice. We took home plenty of leftovers for less than $30. Our second time here. The service is friendly and atmosphere is nice. Its a little expensive, but the portions are large. The curry is delicious, but I will absolutely eat my hat if the meat in the dish I just ate was lamb. Ive had the wonderful experience of enjoying goat in Africa, and that tough, chewy, bouncy stuff in my Boti Masala was just like it! Like no lamb Ive ever tasted. Well be back, but not for lamb.

Our experience eating here was phenomenal. I say that because I had moderately high expectations based on reviews and past experiences with Indian food. I would go back here for lunch and dinner as often as possible, with family or solo. We ordered the mint curry. The chicken was so tender and the curry delicious. I highly recommend it. I also ordered the chicken tandoori. While the chicken was not as tender as the curry, it was SO flavorful I wouldnt hesitate to order it again. Thank you to the family who owns and operates Karma Indian Cuisine for making our night perfect.

The food was amazing. I have no complaints on that. My husband and I ordered samosas and veggie pakora as appetizers, and shared paneer masala with naan for our entree. The only problem was the long wait and being seated directly by the entrance. We went on Valentines Day, so it was understandably crowded and it understandably took a long time. However, maybe they shouldnt have a booth so close to the entrance. I was facing the entrance and just watching the stress of people waiting and the stress of the employees; it was stressful for me!

I love this restaurant! The food is amazing. I like it because they are willing to increase the heat (spicy) to your liking. Other Indian restaurants I have been to seem to be afraid to add heat and when I ask for a five star I get a two star instead. I am sure that many customers dont like it too hot, but my mom grew up in India and always made our curry spicy and hot so that is the way I love it. My husband doesnt like it as hot and they make it to his liking. Great garlic naan and raita. I would highly recommend this place.

One of our favorite places to eat. Weve been on board with these guys from the start and have never been disappointed by the food or the friendly service. We do miss our favorite waiter,Sam, he moved back to India. But that said, we always have such a pleasant time and they always greet us with a smile and a familiarity that makes us feel so welcome. Our favorite dishes are the Lamb Nirvana(and yes it is Nirvana), Mango Curry and the Chicken Tikka Masala. But what ever you do dont leave without having some garlic naan and chai!

What a great find right here in Puyallup! No need to drive all the way into Seattle for EXCELLENT Indian Cuisine!!! I have been going to Karma since they opened. Each and every time has been amazing! I recommend Karma to everyone! Even to people who are skeptic of Indian Cuisine. They always come back with a personal, surprising response of how much they enjoyed it and would return there again! I really LOVE this restaurant and will continue on in my food bliss through its growth! It will be a VERY SAD day if it ever closes!
