first off.The food made me violently ill. Second the service or lack of is non existent it took me over 1/2 hour for waitress to even notice i was waiting which was strange since she was the one that showed me to my Seat. Which was a horrible arrangement btw.i was cramped up between a bunch of other folks which were yelling back and forth in their native language. Waitress was chatting with them the entire time while i was waiting for about 15 min. Now then a group of customers walked in they got seated she took their order keep in mind im still waiting . some other person employee came out with a plates of food and guess who got served the people that came in after me and when she finally decided to help i couldnt hardly understand her the order was incorrect. At this point i was so angry i didnt care i just got whatever to go and boy it was possibly the worst tasting stuff ever (did they just get scraps from garbage?) anyhow i tossed it few hours later like i mentioned earlier . food poisoning! i wouldnt reccomend this place to anyone not even to my boss. And i hate him .

Its a little hole in the wall storefront in an Asian mall anchored by Island Pacific, the California-based Filipino supermarket. I love the big Chinese restaurant a few doors up, but Thanh Thao is a great place, too. The menu has 200+ Viet and Thai items. We mostly go there for the Viet dishes. The beef jerky salad is to die for -- the shoyu dressing is perfect. They have a couple of reasonably priced combo meals too. All in all you can get a nice meal for under $15 including a 20% tip. But if you dont understand Asian restaurants (the real kind where Asian people eat), dont go here. There are boxes of supplies and food products stacked up by the desk and in the hallway and a couple of chest freezers in the dining room. And the wait staff is friendly (if you are) and efficient, but they dont hover, which seems to be what rich people expect from wait staff. Just a nice neighborhood place for ordinary people to get decent meals.

The food is ok. Not very fresh tasting, and very overpriced. For example. My husband got honey walnut shrimp and it was literally 8 poorly fried small shrimp with gobs of mayo on it, for $14.95. It came on a tiny salad plate... and he had to buy the rice separately. This place would be a 3 stars in taste but the star deducted because the quality is so poor for the price. The pho is pretty good. Papaya salad is the worst Ive ever had. Spring rolls are pretty good.

Thanh Thao has always been a favorite place of mine to come eat at when I want food that resembles home. Meals my parents used to cook that I am now too old to ask for and too lazy to cook myself. They have sweet Canh Chua, really good rice dishes and the best roasted quail. Their pho and noodle bowls could easily be compared to other mediocre places, but their rice dishes, again, are really good. Try ordering the com thanh thao one time, youll love it.

I thought it was virtially impossible to find bland vietnemese food, but this cafe managed to do it. The special house rice was boring and substandard, plus pricey at $13. I did not like the catfish soup either, but my wife did. I have eaten Asian food weekly in this ID/Rainier Valley area and this was the most boring and overpriced I have tried in several years.

I enjoyed the Pho combination dish, but 3 stars for Pho noodle only. I had much better tasting Pho at another Vietnamese restaurant. However, this restaurant has many more Vietnamese & Chinese dishes like congee, egg noodles with duck, etc. I did not try any other dishes here. I will update my rating when I try their other food, but only 3 stars for Pho.

The food is about the best you can get from any Vietnamese restuarant. They have soups galore and dont forget about the many dishes they serve up. I cant say enough good things about their food. Pho is not their specialty but they do a fine job at it considering they serve some extra stuff you will never find elsewhere. Raw duck blood anyone?

We ordered beef tendon, and they gave us goat balls! And when we asked what is that they lied about that, we searched what goat balls look like and its the same of what we ate, and theyre all laughing inside the counter.
