My current favourite sub-continental restaurant. I was already inclined to like it when I walked in at lunchtime and discovered that they dont do the almost-ubiquitous steam-table buffet. Instead, all the dishes are finished and plated fresh when you order. Its a Pakistani restaurant, not Indian, so theres a slightly different and refreshing slant to everything (unless youre Pakistani). Ive yet to order anything that wasnt excellent or even sublime: the breads, the curries, the kormas... but it loses a star because I recently went there for lunch, and it was unexpectedly closed, no explanation posted. I tried to see which hours they are open, but the board they display that could be used to tell that to the world is blank. There was a tiny note in one window that indicated that their Ramadan hours would be different, closing later than normal. I called them to complain, and talked to a very unsympathetic person. But Ill go back, is how good the food is. Ill put up with just about anything for excellent food, and once you get inside the restaurant, youre in clover.

Pros: Restaurant is rather large and nicely appointed. Ambiance is pleasant. Food was seasoned well and had good flavor. Portions were very respectable. Service was accommodating; we were one of only three tables occupied. Cons: Appetizer was served without one of its condiments. No time was allowed for us to enjoy our appetizer as entrees were served immediately following appetizer. Other than the naan, which sadly was burnt, neither entree ordered tasted as though it was freshly made. Everything was dry, overcooked and served only slightly warm (perhaps reheated not quite enough? This might explain how/why it arrived so fast.). There are so many eating establishments of this cuisine type in the area that I would not likely choose a return to this one.

I have been coming to here for years and have never had a bad experience. Every visit now has been as good as I remember my first visit in 2009. The owner is from India and has had this restaurant (according to one of my Professors) for close to 2 decades if not more. A restaurant that lasts that long on the Ave clearly has earned its place. Just the aroma walking through the door makes me angrily hungry. There is a wide variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes from the Indian sub-continent that are all amazingly flavorful and filling. The chef is always willing to tweak the spice level above the normal 1-5* system if you ask for it, but you should expect to be lit up.

We ordered five items: 1. Chole Bathure - 3/5 - these werent bad but werent great either, could do with some green chillies and cilantro. Get rid of those jalapenos, theres no place for jalapenos in Indian food. 2. Paneer tikka - 0/5 - as tasteless a dish as there could be, had stark red color which obviously was artificial, and bland. Didnt serve green cilantro chutney, which is quintessential for a tikka. 3. Mango lassi - 4/5, best item we had 4. Salty lassi - 2/5, had chat masala, which was weird. 5. Lahori Bhindi - will give this a benefit of the doubt since ive never been to Lahore so cant tell what the actual dish should taste like.

Very nice ambiance. Parking is usually street side but we did not have a problem twice we visited. The host/owner was amazing and very welcoming. Very decent Kababs. Specially loved their spicy chicken kababs(forgetting the actual name on menu). Their gravies are great too. We tried their Goat Karahi and Jaipuri Chicken gravy. Both would be great choices on any day. I prefer Hyderabadi Biryani but their Biryani was pretty decent too. Naan is a little dry and heavy - you could make a meal with one naan alone. Ask them to butter your naan if possible. And yes, they do serve Halal meats! Completely satisfied!

This is the only restaurant that we discovered using Groupon that we have gone back to without a Groupon incentive. It is one of our favorite restaurants in the Seattle area. The food is allfreshly prepared and many of the dishes they serve are unique to this restaurant. Dont go to Shalimar if you are craving the old Indian standbys like Tandori Chicken, Chicken Tika Masala, and the like. You can pretty much get that everywhere. Go off the beaten path to some of their regional specialties and make sure to order the Kashmiri Naan (good as a dessert!)

Poor quality food for the price they charge. Ive had much better Pakistani/Indian food for half the price per dish. The spices were not cooked very well, and the side dishes were none! You have to order and pay for all sides dishes (raita, salads, chutney sauces, etc) that you normally get at a regular Pakistani restaurant in other states like NY, CA, DC for free. I guess white folks who have never had decent Pakistani or Indian food cant tell how good a true Pakistani food tastes like. I hope owner reads this and can make improvements.

I must have been to Shalimar for over 10 years. It has never disappointed. Classy atmosphere, fantastic food and very good service. Mr. Yousef, whom I got to know after many years, is a gentleman, and he is very focused on giving his customers a great experience at great value. You should have the standard Indian fare here, all well prepared. If you are adventurous, try the chicken tika masala pasta. Youd be very pleasantly surprised. Id always come back here.

If you have tried Shalimar in Bay Area, this one is not remotely close to it. Taste of butter chicken was not even close to what it should be (it was tasteless) Chicken Tikka are not properly marinated. I ordered Indian Chai but not sure what I got in that cup. Not sure how to this place has 4 rating under Indian cuisine tag. Try it if you want to experience moments of disappointment Icing on cake - check will drill a hole in your pocket

The worst service ever we found hair in the food no one apologized or even discounted that plate and we spoke to the waitress she started talking to another waitress in their language and was very disrespectful didnt care or anything I love the place before but now they just lost a costumer who used to go there I wish they can talk to the waitresses and have them more respectful to costumes and at least smile no even a smile

This is an average Indian food restaurant whose prices seem a bit high. I ordered takeout and two of the vegetable curry containers were loaded up with giant pieces of potato. Literally each container had 1.5 potatoes in them. That was disappointing that they would load up a take away order with giant potato chunks. I felt like I did not get a good value for my money here.

The service was good but the food was hands down the worst indian food Ive had. I got lamb tikka masala and it tasted like tomato soup with a handful of sugar added in. The garlic naan also tasted like a fist full of sugar. The chai tea had zero flavor to it, the color looked right but tasted like steamed milk. And to top it off the prices were on the very high end.

The ambience was great and the staff was friendly but the food is the most important of all. It was good but did not satisfy my craving for the food I wanted. That happens very rarely to me. Same happened with my wife and we concluded that although the food wasnt bad, it was mediocre at best.
