Unlimited naan with the lunch buffet was all I had to read to come here. I basically ate my weight in a heavy combination of naan, tikka masala and lamb vindaloo, but this was known well before I got here. I was prepared to be in some pain. I salivated the entire drive over. I was forewarned to come early for the saucier dishes. With my intention to eat a ridiculous amount of naan I needed that for mopping, sopping and dipping. Wait what, champagne too? Aw shoot. Good food and alcohol are like 2 of my best friends. Lets get 1thing straight Im here for the food first then drinks and frankly Im more of a bloody Caesar then beer sort of day drinking. Its actually kind a cool décor. Some historic design, but with a modern feel to it. Sure its not quite as good as Gulzaar, but like I said Im here for the buffet and that naan. Service is quick thought not attentive. I need plenty of water up front as I spiced things up and drank later to cool myself down. The plates are pretty ornate considering most places use monotone basic restaurant depo cheapo stuff. Chicken tikka masala. The chicken had good color, its always hard to get the spicing to color all the way through, but they do it well, even without the thinner cuts of chicken. It was tender, the spice blend was medium, but I had to add more. Normally I like rice with this and use the naan for the leftover, but with unlimited naan I basically made a naan boat. Think of the sourdough breadbowls you get at the warf. The chicken is scarce in quantity, not quality. Imagine a spicier butter chicken versus a true tikka masala, both of which I like very much. I did the same thing with the lamb vindaloo. The chunks of lamb were small, but flavorful, even aside from the sauce. The tenderness was hit or miss, some were fatty others dry and harder, most were perfect though. After having the medium masala I went hot on this and was not disappointed. After a few plates of each and truck loads of naan turns out I didnt drink much later in the meal at all. I didnt have to and frankly I didnt even want to.

After getting some very important work done in Campbell, my wife and I were famished and wanted to get food fast. Yelp told us that there was a $$ Indian restaurant named Rangoli, a mile away and it carried great reviews. We figured, why not give it a shot. Less than ten minutes later we were standing at the lobby of a pleasantly welcoming Indian restaurant. The Indian-ness was everywhere but the decor was contemporary and the colors were muted. It felt pleasant and a nice change from the warm and bright 86F Campbell temperature at that time. We seated ourselves and promptly headed to the buffet area. The buffet area was a surprise. Apart from being extremely clean and well labeled, the dishes were unique for an Indian buffet. The typical Indian restaurant salad is a sad assortment of store bought veggies thrown in to satisfy the requirements of a limited few non-Indians who consider salad an integral part of their meal. But its different in Rangoli. There were 5 different salads with all kinds of veggies and dressings, both Indian and western to make it a meal on its own. Two of the salads were pretty spicy while the rest were well balanced. All in all, the salad bar at Rangoli was a revelation. The main curries were reasonable in number, about 4 vegetarian and 4 non-vegetarian. There was vegetable rice (more like a vegetable pulao) and also white rice. Hot naans were brought directly to our table and overall, the food was very tasty. Like with the salads, the desserts were interesting. Yes, there was a kheer. But no, there wasnt a gulab jamun or a dry gajar ka halwa. Instead there were mini delectables- cakes that looked western but with Indian flavoring and some nice petit desi sweets. Cant really describe them than to say they were good.

It looks like a nice place with ambient-style music. We walked in on a Thursday evening on a whim. It didnt seem very busy with several guys just standing around. But we waited 3 minutes for the guy at the counter to stop writing on his receipts and bring us to a table. It took 10 minutes to bring us a menu, 15 more to come and take our order. But we cant speak for the food as it would have been another 25 before we even saw the Naan appetizer and we had enough of the delays. I might have understood if it was busy, or if delays were limited to an individual, but they didnt respond, even after I asked them to speed things up. Next time Ill go back to Tandoor restaurant at Blossom Hill & Snell for Indian food.

There is no respect to the desis, where the treatments and the way the waiters behaving are different. Had been to buffet and went to pick deserts by the time they dump other washable plates in our table and on seeing that we changed the place next to our earlier seating and no one was there at that time but we were asked to sit on the same place by removing the washable plates of other tables... There is no curtsey being their fault and ask us to continue in the place we seated second time, instead asking us to move to original place. This place seems to be only reserved for other countrymen... Treat all as one... Apart from this the food has no spice at all... its a non-spicy items..

I know this place from a friend and so far its the place I went when I was craving Indian food. My Indian friend who is visiting from overseas also said this place is good. The good has got creamy consistency. The rice also taste good - I think they mixed garlic oil in the balsmati rice. The best for, in my opinion, is Chicken Masala. The chicken in the curry doesnt have a lot of flavor. I usually order Tandoori Chicken to go with the Chicken Masala sauce. Its very yummy. Did I mention they have buffet during workdays lunch time? The food they served during buffet hours is a bit different from the menu but if you want to have taste of their foods, its the best time to visit.

This has been my favorite Indian restaurant for quite a while and has always been a great treat to get take out for the family. take out was always a good alternative since they have never been known for good service. However, the last few times we have gotten take out, it has gone down hill dramatically. Small portions, things left out, chicken curry with almost no chicken. Just overall lack of attention to detail. I am sorry to see this happen since I loved their food. Will be looking for a new place. Sorry guys, if only you showed more emphasis on consistency and quality Rangoli could have been one of the great ones!

WE PAID FULL PRICE AND THUS EXPECT FULL LUNCH. Instead, got discount lunch at full price! If they didnt have enough food they shouldve told us not to take the buffet that costs $12. Reached 45 mins before the end of buffet. There was barely any food left...after asking many times, they were still dragging their feet to refill empty trays. But that wasnt the worst part, the food was terrible(Im a Vegitarian). Not one thing worth taking twice, seriously. Only one desert-custard, WITHOUT FRUITS!! Its a shame to call that an indian desert...the owners should know that. NEVER going back there again.
