Ram Rod is misstating what actually happened. First of all - I am not his girlfriend - it was a first (and last) date, second the bartender did not say anything about agreement or disagreement with the conversation. He simply leaned toward us and stated quietly "please dont have this conversation in my bar, not tonight" and walked away. Ram Rod was totally out of line and inappropriate in his response to that simple request and interpreted it as a personal attack. The way he lost control of his ability to have a respectful conversation after a simple request was made spoke volumes about his character and self control. Differing views are one thing, the inability to manage your emotions and have constructive conversation is a totally separate matter. Maximiliens is a beautiful, intimate space and I totally understood why we would be asked to discontinue a political conversation in such a small, quiet dining room during this very politically divisive time. The way the staff handled Ram Rods reaction and subsequent diatribe made me love this restaurant even more. He was very politely asked to leave when his behavior intruded on the experience of other diners. Thank you Maximiliens for continuing to be the classy, elegant dining experience that I love.

Excellent view, OK service, horrible food. Despite the French waiters, the food is French in name only. The overpriced cheese plate ($14) had hard, delicatessen Swiss cheese and no softer, creamier cheeses to complement it. The pan-seared halibut was flavorless (not to mention not at all seared), and soggily sopping in a dishwater and butter sauce. The combination with vinegar-soaked onions and dull potatoes was odd and off-putting. All this for >$30. The "coffee creme brulee" dessert was clearly made the night before and refrigerated. Youre paying for the view--as long as you understand that, and arent under the impression that youre going to receive anything resembling French cuisine, you will have an OK time. Otherwise, you will be sorely disappointed. But the hilarious "grand finale" was my waiters fake French accent. I tried speaking French with him, but he didnt understand a word.

When one makes reservations for New Years Eve at a restaurant which was never visited, the imagination can become a worry over what might go bad. Maximilien was the perfect choice to celebrate as they provided a memory we will want to keep a very long time. Seating within Reservation Time - Good Hustle - Great Music - Great Cuisine - Outstanding View - Great "Heart & Soul" Factor? - Great Management Awareness and Engagement? - Great Speed of Service - Good Accommodation to added needs - Great Anticipation - Great Maximilien went all out to ensure smiles. The staff adapted to ever changing conditions of New Years Eve event and accommodated what might have been more uncomfortable because of the crowd. In the end, the extra crowd goes unnoticed and it proved to be a great choice to end 2009 with cuisine and service to remember. Recommend? YES. (capitalized)

I went here in August 2016 and had one of the best dining experiences I have ever had in Seattle. Took my best friend out for just an appetizer before a birthday lunch but ended up staying for much much longer. We ordered a bunch of appetizers, because after trying our first two we wanted to try absolutely everything. We started out on their beautiful patio then moved inside to eat and get a bit warmer. The bartender was very gracious and helped us pick a bottle of champagne to go best with our oysters, and our waiter was very friendly. And im assuming upon realizing we were two friends wishing to catch up they brought us to a wonderful table in a room with no one else. Amazing view, food, staff, and ambiance. Have repeated several times all with the same consensus.

The food was terrible. My oysters were not cleaned in any way (not even a spray down?) There was actual plankton wiggling around on the plate. The waiter had a very fake French accent. The plating of my duck confit looked like my 2 year old son did an art project (a full plate of lentils with a few potato chips stuffed deep down in in a perfect circle? really?) The confit was dry. The fruit and cheese plate we ordered had fruit that was obviously not fresh (a real problem for me when its in the market.) and cheese that was lackluster at best. Worst of all? It was $120...for bad food AT LUNCH. I have no interest in ever returning to this place. The only thing they had going for them was the atmosphere.

As my first experience with French dining, Maxmillion did not disappoint. I sampled a variety of items from the happy hour menu and each was affordable and tasty, from the Mussel Marinière (perfectly cooked in a white wine and butter sauce) to the Chicken Wings Confit (non-greasy and paired with a delicious creamy Roquefort dip). With the friendly (and French-accented) servers and excellent view of the downtown Seattle waterfront, Ill definitely be back. With an upcoming first-time trip to Paris planned for the spring, Maxmillion succeeded in making me even more excited to further explore French cuisine.

The French Onion Soup lived up to expectations. The Tournedos was large, luscious, very tender and came with a delicious portion of truffle french fries. The Foie Gras was as would be expected from a French cook (that is a compliment). The waiter was french, and a delight, alas a bit hard to understand at times. As so many other places in the world, the water had a scent of chlorine - and that always puts me off. The view was great, and the price was perhaps a tat over the top. All in all a very splendid experience. Thank you, Karen, for recommending this place.

It is, and always will be a lovely, intimate little restaurant tucked behind Market Spice and the butcher in Pike Place. Out of the way, yet easy to find, and I will always love this place. Went for lunch with my teen-aged daughter on a Friday afternoon. Her Salmon sandwich was wonderful and the potato leek soup velvety and subtle. My Croque Madame was dry and the egg on top overdone, but the fried were perfect. Really a 3.5 star, but the beautiful day, the attentive waitstaff and the ambiance made me round up versus down.

Enjoyable experience, but lacking the "wow" moment that encourages a new diner to return. Quaint atmosphere with a very nice view of The Sound; service and food are good, but a bit on the pricey side. Escargot was as expected; my Chilean sea bass was quite delicious and buttery; my wifes duck confit had good flavor but a bit dry and overcooked. The appetizer, dinners and two drinks for the both of us ran $148 (with a 4% surcharge for non-tipped employees -- I wasnt aware restaurants were doing this).

This is the worst service Ive ever experienced! The waitress literally rolled her eyes at us when someone in our party discovered a hair in their food. The entire time she was giving massive attitude. Not only that but there were rats and when we pointed it out they didnt even respond. After all they took out a massive gratuity which explains the awful service. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT go there. The experience isnt worth the "atmosphere". There are MUCH better restaurants available.
